What the hell? Thread about fucking Diablo 3 necro gets a shitton of replies while this gets none?
I'm hyped.
To be fair though, that's a bait thread.
Does nobody here play this game?
so are we going to lose legacy league? or are we going to get a new league feature but it'll just be added to the league stone count? This league is too fucking good to lose what the fuck.
We do
But we´re all waiting for the expansion
Does your character immediately leave the game when you disconnect now?
I lost a hardcore character to a disconnect and haven't played since.
I'm excited, there's just nothing to talk about currently
Oh boy, two more months of Legacy
>I'm excited, there's just nothing to talk about currently
They are adding SIX new acts. Will these acts be really small compared to the other ones, or what's the deal? Sounds too good to be true.
To be fair, almost everyone in that thread is shitting on D3
They are bringing it to Xbox soon. I'll start playing it then.
i think you have a thread on /vg/
To be fair, Path of Exile lost most of its players when everyone realized it was just as bad as D3 in its own way
And which way would that be? The lag is gone.
To be fair, all the posters in PoE threads and in D3 threads are jelly D3 fags that can't get over the fact that PoE is a million times better.
But they won't admit it because how could they justify their 3k hours in a supbar ARPG with bad mechanics.
Every class is the same.
poe is a subpar diablo clone with bad mechanics
stop trying to advertise for your game by talking about a blizzard game
poe's core audience are autists divided between twitch and reddit, with people that flood into the general at the start of a new league
since this isn't the start of a new league most the people that would talk about it in the general are on reddit or twitch right now
Diablo is polished and the engine and game are smooth but the game is shallow whilst poe has a very rigid engine that feels inbetween d2 and d3
I'm going to presume that you haven't touched the game since 2013, the playerbase has only grown exponentially
>its another PoE is good episode
No. Just no, please. PoE is utter trash. It has nothing to offer. ZERO. At least D3 has good gameplay and combat. There's 0 reason for playing PoE over say, D2.
>hit 30
>pick a skill
>Use only that skill for the rest of the game
Also doesnt help theres only like 3 skills worth using at endgame.
I want to get into it (last played in like 2011) but I get really autistic about choosing a build and never get anywhere
>it's grown a lot! I swear!
Then why does almost no one talk about it anymore? It's not even mentioned among ARPG players.
After they launched on Steam, Steam was about 1/3 of the active playerbase. Whether this holds now or not is unknown. These figures also aren't related to the Garena ghetto.
There's an obvious growth in players between leagues, corresponding to more aggressive marketing of new leagues.
support gems suck ( more + more + more + increased + skill gem )
"crafting" sucks
linking sucks
offcoloring sucks
trading sucks
playing solo sucks
ascendancies suck
scion sucks
chris wilson sucks
"le optimizing game for xbox" sucks
projectpt quit
i made this pic btw
>6 more acts to hold right-click through
Call me when they make viable builds that aren't 1-button screen clear.
>old poe is a snoozefest
>new poe is too fast
Fucking plebs
Next race in an hour.
>spoiler
Nice.
>playing solo sucks
Nope.
>ascendancies suck
Only a few of them.
Every other point you made is objectively correct.
i actually wanted to say "playing solo self found sucks"
because playing in parties also sucks, due to framerate drops
does anyone enjoy going through the same dull fucking acts everytime they want to try a new build?
I did for about three or four leagues. Now it's a chore and the fact every viable build has one of two trees with minor variations makes it really, really repetitive.
I have no faith in 3.0 to change this so I'm not hype in the slightest. 10 acts will still be shit when your tree is still the same and your skills are still the same with the same boring, mandatory support gems.
>solo self found
Then yes, that is also objectively true.
>Same drop rates as regular mode since you can opt-out at any time
>But without the ability to interact with anyone else
>The hell of getting Masters to 8 with no assistance
>The hell of getting any decent Unique Items for anything except the most brain-dead builds that require no gear
>Can't even stash swap among your SSF character
What's the point of playing this game? Doing maps over and over and over again. Fun to level but there's actually nothing to do.
>What's the point of doing this fun thing
To disappoint your parents I guess?
Played the alpha. Kicks ass.
t. GGG employee
sometimes you find a valuable drop so you can lose it later due to lag
When will it release?
Mid-July.
Lots of reused assets , the gimmick is that you revisit the first acts but after they've been affected by your action .
Now there will be only one difficulties .
Oh... so it's basically a sham. Figures.
>clunky
>shitty optimization
>spaghetti code everywhere
>shitty graphics
>shitty animations
>no trade system
>gimmicky passive tree / spell system
The only reason people are playing this rancid piece of shit is because it's free.
not a bad gimmick for a genre thats generally about doing the same areas over and over anyways
no they play it because it has the f2p update cycle
if it were free but never upated it would be deader than grim dawn
...
>d3
>good combat
dude rotations LMAO
>He doesn't know about AAA shills
>Kripp will never PoE 18 hours a day again
>He will play Jobstone forever because teens and manchildren only watch card games and mobas
Can't spell kripp without rip ;___;
>watching kripp ever
dude is shit at every game he plays and is more boring to watch than drying paint
kripp played poe casual hours a day, which is why he could never keep up with etup and dominion
should i play this game?
no, but she should be my waifu
the manga gives me such diabetes when i read it
Path of Healthnodes/ESnodes
Path of Grinding
Path of Illusion of Choice
whoops accidentally bumped this shit thread
race soon
uber beyond sounds real cancerous
>Kripp died and has been replaced
Why else does he hate everything and never drink oj
maybe someone with a brain told him drinking two thousand kilocalories of sugar a day is bad for you
choice is an illusion, exile
this is how it works regarding disconnects
if you open a brand new map (enter it) the game will not allow you to disconnect for 30 seconds even if you force a disconnect or exit game
If the zone has been around longer than that that it should disconnect you instantly.
If you are playing hardcore you should get in the habit of not moving during immunity time to give yourself more safety since I think immunity time protects you for 20 seconds.
PoE was the game that finally made me realize that I actually hate this "diablo clone" genre as a whole. The only "action RPG/dungeon crawling/grindfest" games I actually like are Diablo 2, Shinning Soul 2 and Phantasy Star Online.
Why are melee builds never viable in these types of games? The only good "melee" skills are shit with a huge radius and high speed like Cyclone
>PoE
>better combat
Dude invest everything into a single skill ROFL
Anyone have a guild? I'm tired of trying to deal with the general.
true, only diablo 2 has good combat in this genre and that's a result of good animations and sound effects
any sort of official or inofficial diablo 4 would need to change shit up drastically
The only reason they weren't in PoE is because the of the way armor worked. Armor doesn't reduce damage; it completely ignores it within a threshold. With new armor calculation, Melee builds will be much better now. Hopefully.
>PoE was the game that finally made me realize that I actually hate this "diablo clone" genre as a whole.
Looking back at it, yeah, this pretty much sums up how I feel about the entire genre. If I want to play Diablo, I'll play Diablo. If I want to play Diablo with friends I'll play Diablo 2. They're still the best, by far, at what they are and what they're trying to accomplish for the average user's experience. I think it's worth mentioning how cancerous the community involved in these modern lootrunners really is too. It's become such a shitshow with pseudo-speedrunning and people LARPing the wolf of wall street with their pixel currency.
What's there to talk about? You just kill more shit faster.
Are you retarded? Diablo 2 had the same "problem".
>Orb sorc
Throw Frozen Orb and Teleport MAYBE blizzard
>Bone necro
Throw spirits or spears
>Hammerdin
Use Hammers
Stop being a faggot.
yeah, but it's fun and addictive
diablo 3 tries to be fun and addictive but everything is slightly off so it's not nearly as fun
Because you suck at making builds. There are tons of viable melee builds.
waiting for the beta, even if I don't get in, I want to see the skill tree and try to come up with a league starter
Wow 6 new acts you play though once then you start mapping and never see again
if you play PoE you know it's gonna suck
After playing PoE for about a year and trying to play Diablo 2 for a while, I just noticed that Diablo 2 has horrible combat because of really really pack size and the fact that there is no end game. When you can just teleport through the whole map to get to wherever you need to go, kill the bosses and remake the game after you blast them with 12 frozen orbs and maybe something else if they're immune to it compared to the ENTIRE map being a threat in PoE, I'm convinced that people just have their nostalgia goggles on for Diablo 2. Play Median XL if you really want to play that shit again.
they are getting rid of the cruel/merciless system. No more repeating shit 3x over on the same char to reach maps. Now the difficulty just scales through the acts and it's one playthrough. It'll no longer be cancer to make new chars.
new tile sets, new maps, lots of new content.
Yeah, that's the point. Who the fuck actually wants to play through the same game 3 times just to get to the end game? Now, the only reason you'll play through it is to get another character to endgame. Who the fuck would argue against that?
Game has the worst netcode I've ever seen. 5ping... Then jumps into the hundreds amd freezes on 120mb/sec hardwire.
>people LARPing the wolf of wall street with their pixel currency.
This right here is why PoE is aids. It's 100% built around this faggotry.
The character building is shit, the gameplay is "hold down rmb and spam potions" shit, the itemization is shit, the crafting mechanics are shit, the D2 ripoff magic bauble currency mechanics are shit, the trading is shit, the droprates are shit, the fucking everything is shit so people can turn off their brain during actual gameplay and play their fantasy haggling simulator after grinding for infinity hours.
>Add another 6 linkable item or two(Pants or whatever)
>Slow combat significantly but increase drop rates
>Add a support gem that increases damage and AoE but gives a short cooldown (5-8 secondish) so they can used alongside other spells
Basically i just want them to reduce the "spam a single spell and oneshot the entire world" gameplay it has right now.
>the D2 ripoff magic bauble currency mechanics
This has to be bait or you're actually just retarded.
diablo games should have combat like a faster and more ranged-baseddark souls
They're bringing the game to Xbox, user. They'll never do that.
>Xbox will feature 1 less Flask slot
>8 skill bar slots and console targeting
Anything more than 1 skill for trash clear and 1 skill for bossing will be so unwieldy that nobody could play it. Especially since all their other slots will go to auras and shit.
Have you ever played D2 online you shitmongler? The "real" currency are crafting items like the desirable and rare runes. That's what PoE got it's currency mechanics from.
Pull your head out of your ass.
Rewards are too easy, by a bit.
You can farm a set + all supporting items in about a week of play, after that you're just grinding ancient versions of the same items, leveling legendary gems and doing the gem recipe all for meager increases in effectiveness compared to the initial set jump in power.
>When you can just teleport through the whole map
>blast them with 12 frozen orbs
Not everyone plays a sorceress. Besides, mechanically speaking, Diablo 2 is not much different than Path of Exile in that regard. Yeah, they both can be nothing but teleporting around and nuking bosses. At least I won't lose my character because of shitty netcode in Diablo, though. The big difference is, only one class can viably perform that in Diablo 2 while in Path of Exile it's essentially mandatory for everyone to be capable of doing it because they've literally built the game's difficulty around every character being able to teleport/dash around.
>I'm convinced that people just have their nostalgia goggles on for Diablo 2
Not really. I still play it to this day. I like it a lot, as does the group of people I play it with. We find it more challenging than PoE for the most part. When we die in Diablo 2 it's because of user error, we can quickly identify the mistake we made and fix our playstyle to not repeat it. More often than not in Path of Exile, the mistake isn't user error, it's server error and after losing dozens of characters to networking problems I have to admit I'm a little reluctant to invest my time into it anymore.
>farm a set
Nigga, you get the set for your specific class that is tied to the strongest build for the current Meta every single Season in D3. They just hand it to you for reaching end-game.
I'm just thinking basic combat, even without the gear feedback loops
the sound design is slightly too anemic, and I really don't like the obscenely many cooldowns in a diablo game either
go find some gameplay videos of d2 and d3 and shut your eyes and just listen to the sound, d2 is just better
Did they ever fix desync?
Yeah, a long time ago actually.
honestly the same happens in poe too
I got all my top end gear in day 2 of legacy
after that I was just amassing currency and buying luxuries
>in Path of Exile it's essentially mandatory for everyone to be capable of doing it because they've literally built the game's difficulty around every character being able to teleport/dash around.
Don't forget the game's difficulty is also built around every kind of character stacking the same amount of survivability (a fucking lot) making different ranged character builds completely impossible to ever balance.
And also the game's drop rates and xp gain are balanced for the clearspeed meta.
All three of those together make the game just insanely stale because everything good plays the same way, and limit the amount of viable builds down to an insignificantly small subset of the whole possibility space.
You forgot another big one:
>Even with perfect defenses, the game can still regularly one-shot you if you do even somewhat difficult content
>The end-game map system is still gutter trash that returns a +1 for every 20 maps ran unless you play in your server's off-hours or have the luck of the Irish
>only 14% of players have beaten Act 3 of Normal Difficulty
Why does GGG balance around the endgame if no one plays it? What's the point of nerfing energy shield if 99% of players never reach a point where energy shield is actually stronger than life?
Some classes dont get their meta set, plus you still have to farm the supporting off set items but blood shards and rare upgrade trivialized that.
I've honestly never heard anyone complain about the buffs or cooldowns, I dont like the goal of reducing their cooldown to nothing or matching their duration and encouraging spammy playstyle.
Same, I only ever feel like playing through a league once.
if you don't even beat act 4 in this f2p game you're not even considered a valid customer
i fucking lover fire wall in d1 and d2
best spell in video games
too bad d2 fucked up hell with immunities, i really really disliked that, but hey, motherfucking mercs can win the game on their own with proper gear, so i give it a pass
I'm not excited about the new expansion. the endgame is garbage, instead of doing the same acts on 3 difficulties, you'll go through the acts one time and get to the same spot you were at before... farming uberlab and mapping, maybe wasting your time doing parties or some other new league specific thing, but you'll still get to the same spot, reach a wall, and then maybe make a new char or just quit because what the fuck is the point.
I played a good bit during the domination league, and than taken a break til AoW, I originally had a Volt LA ranger, and than I realised during AoW that bow-characters are shit even with godly gear can't do endgame reliably due to how garbage evasion is, than I rolled an EQ juggernaut, farmed lab a bit and than hit another wall(armor / life sucked), eventually rolled a BV flaskfinder and memed my way through every fucking map, I was even charging for atlas completion and making 10ex+/day. then it was just crafting, which is profitable but boring.
people that want to slow down poe are always shitters with poor reflexes
