I think it had potential that was intentionally left unused for a sequel. Hopefully the next game will have actual dungeons and characters that were not dead 100 years before the game even started. And something else than copious amounts of shrines and korok seeds.

Open world games are difficult to develop and the genre was stagnating. It's been a breeze of fresh air and it's just too bad if you can't enjoy it.

What are your definitions of "deep" and "shallow"? Because I don't get how you could get so much wrong. BotW is deeper than any open world game made since, let's say, Stalker Call of Pripyat. Not that it's very deep, but it's deeper than any of modern open world shit, both mechanics and story wise.

As someone who actually likes BotW quite a bit, I'd say it's more like a Solid 6/10.

It's a lot of fun, but it just really lacks in the open world. It needed more actual dungeons and content of substance. Things like Korok Seeds are plentiful but they're not "good" content. Collectathons are fine, but after so many ubisoft open world games, I want more than that in my open world.

It dawned on me when I was wondering aimlessly around Hebra that there is absolutely fuck all to do in this game except look for Shrines and Koroks.

I'm not even joking when I say Horizon had more to offer.
