Nothing being released for the 3DS nowadays NEEDS to be on the 3DS, in no way does it take advantage of the hardware so just put it on the more powerful and new platform. Like Ever Oasis.

Mostly because they think keeping the 3DS around it's hurting Switch's sales, when in reality the problem comes from the the slow manufacturing those things take to be ready.
(Also, if Nintendo's Badge Arcade is any indication, then this is definitively the 3DS's last year)

Also because of Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon not being on 3DS, but then again, Pokemon GO and SuMo brought lot's of people unaware of GameFreaks's modus operandy, so it makes sense people complain more compared to when B2W2 got announced.

A lot of Switch buyers didn't read the Nintendo Financial report to shareholders.

Nintendo in their quarterly reports strictly calls the Switch a home console and the successor to the WiiU.

I expect Nintendo to announce their next handheld console this E3 or maybe next E3 at the latest.

It should've been logical for people to see that the Switch isn't a handheld system with the battery life and the WiiU philosophy. It's very easily recognizable as a continuation of the WiiU tablet controller but now giving true portability for ~3 hours.

I still bought the Switch because I buy every Nintendo console. But please read some shit before assuming it's something that it's not.

The handheld successor isn't out yet. This is also very noticeable by the type of games released on the Switch. They are console type games not handheld games.

Biggest reason to abandon is so they can focus all development efforts onto a single console. There is no reason to continue supporting this five-year-old thing. It's got a good library of evergreen titles to continue selling its latest iteration until Switch needs a price cut (which it doesn't anytime soon due to selling all available stock but will need once the 3DS has truly fizzled out). DQ11 is its swan song. Let it go.

For those of us with both, going from one to the other is jarring and painful. The resolution was always terrible but the contrast with Switch makes it even worse. It's over six years old, it had a good run. Time for the next one

3DS is an objectively poor portable console. The 3D effect was never perfect and "breaks" with the slightest movement. New 3DS improves it but it's still shit. Resolution is too low and was low when it launched. 2D mode lower than original 2004 PSP. Hardware is weak and was weak when it launched. Screen quality is hit or miss and even the hit is shit. It's not ergonomically friendly. DS games upscale with artifacts that fucks up 2D pixel stuff and native mode it teeny tiny even on a 3DS XL.

It has a good library of games and it had good six year run. It's dead now whether you admit it or like it or not.

Because I enjoy being there more
