What an interesting predicament OP has found himself in. He's tried to create a Love Live thread on Sup Forums for the fun of it, but you see people replying simply oblivious to his intent. It makes me ponder whether video games or anime will win this one out.

Hanayo and Rin could be combined down to one character and she would still be bland and boring. Nico is annoying and doesn't have anything but her stupid catch phrase. Maki and Umi could probably be combined to make one complete character as well.

Pretty much everyone from FF6 except Terra and Celes are well liked by everyone. Cyan, Sabin and Setzer stick out as the most universally liked. The whole series makes characters that are hard to hate, up until FF10, and even that has some characters everyone loves, like Auron, Jecht and Lulu

As stupid as the Kotori drama was, all the second years actually mattered in the story and had the most presence and got the most development. You can take Eli, Hanayo and Rin out and wouldn't lose much since they didn't have much screentime nor did they develop that much.

I found those really touching. Reminded me of my high school girlfriend (she was mostly blind, so everything was just a dark shapeless blur to her).
