Everything else looks to be in order but I don't understand this.

I hate Tidus and the sphere grid and 10-2's gameplay makes it plenty fun. The story was retarded and the fact that Yuna's big prize for saving the world twice was Tidus AGAIN made me puke, so I just leave him dead every time.

15 was never actually released. They just sold everyone a game still in alpha at full price. 40% of the game is unfinished. There's almost as many unused assets as used ones. The combat is pathetically easy. The story is a garbled mess. There are many good concepts there and I will buy another open world game from square, as long as it is a finished title. The people who like 15 like it's good points so much they ignore the incredible mechanical faults with it. If they ever finish the game it will be a good final fantasy game. That remains to be seen though.

it was garbage. it was written like it was out of a fan fic. The story is salvageable, buy it was awful. Having a data log is proof of that.

FF9 is actually a really interesting case IMO. In a way, it was the "crowdpleaser FF game". It's like, when your favorite band releases that one album in the middle of their career that finally has a couple chart topping singles, right? FF9 tried to incorporate all the new good ideas they'd learned from 7 and 8, but simultaneously wax nostalgic for the "golden age" of 1-6. There was something there for everybody. Those who rank it lower tend to be, like the favorite band guy, of the opinion that they compromised a bit and ended up with a wide but shallow take on the series.

So wrong it hurts. Not one of those idiots actually tries to decipher the game beyond "oh noes, it has references". IX lovingly mocks the series and the genre while having a plethora of meta-themes that didn't get explored in gaming ever since, except maybe killer7 and Pathologic? Its narrative and tone are so sublime most people just never get to appreciating it on a level beyond cool atmosphere and designs, see TTGL for a similar case.

The only reason people dislike it is because of the orphanage scene. Well guess what, it isn't that unlikely that orphans end up being elite child soldiers and meet each other. You have cases IRL where neighbors see each other in fucking vacations on the other side of the earth. This stuff can happen.

More replayability, more lighthearted(I was fine with this; some aren't), at least until the halfway point, much better character customization; the dress sphere system is excellent, better use of ATB/battle system, fun side quests and mini-games, extra backstory surrounding Spira, better blitzball(IMHO, see 'side quests' comment)-- There's plenty to like about FFX-2. I'm a bit of a sucker for class systems and the job changes from 5/3 were great. VII and XII are my favorite 'modern' mainlines, VI is nice, I like Setzer and Relm, but never really dug the magic system in that one, did love that everyone was pretty unique though. MMO ones are MMOs, I like the jobs but the games are pretty meh. VIII is okay too in its own way but I don't like the draw mechanic that much, was very pretty from my memory though. IV is also pretty okay but something about it just feels very boring. XIII is dogshit unfun, and 2 is lowest but I still understand that it paved way for the legends series (unless it's another series I'm thinking off that branched from it), it was their second game and at least they tried going a different route.
I didn't add 9, 10 or 15 because I never played them and don't intend to play them ever.
