Tekken is such a weird series to me. I know it's venerable, I know it has fans, and I know it's popular, but it's like all that fandom and hype exists in some kind of weird internet-only parallel universe. I have never met a Tekken fan in real life. I have never heard anyone talk about it, positive or negative. I've never even seen a friend playing it in front of me or so much as a demo machine in a store. It's like I live on Earth A, where people either played MK or Street Fighter, with the odd Souls fan in between. And then there's Earth B, where Tekken is this huge on the same level as those games and tons of people talk about it and play it, but the only way for me to steal a view into this world is through Sup Forums and IGN articles.

Depends on what region you are playing, JPN and SK PSN accounts consistently gets matches. Even my SG accounts gets matches from Flips.

How can I learn consistent while standing moves. I can do them in practice without issue but in heat of battle I always fuck them up.

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK/Injustice have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

Lets say you are trying to learn a character. You practice for 2 days and go to ranked after. If you have a sub 20% w/l after like 50 to 60 matches what would you do? Find another character to main? Or tough it out and get better? Reminder this is against opponents with similar skill or slightly better.

By practice do you mean you went into training and did one combo over and over again. Or did you learn the characters best moves/ strings and how best to properly use the character.

I just play who I like. I don't expect to actually win against people who have been Tekken gods for 20 years. The game is new enough there are pretty of fellow noobs I can trounce.

Sounds like you are awful at the game in general. No other character will make you better in the game if you can't do the most basic shit that is required from all characters. Learn to move, block and punish. Fancy launcher combos don't mean jack shit if you can't get the launcher in.

It will be gone from the top 100 after a month like every other fighting game on the PC

That's just Tekken. It's easy to get tilted because a single mistake can send you flying through the air for 20 seconds before being pummeled in the corner.

I don't tilt when I play any other fighter, but I do in Tekken. Losing feels really bad in this game.

Best move strings strings with low variatons, launchers and combo starters and what moves I can punish with and some frame data for my best moves but I think one of my sources is wrong. Can a enemy punish a 10 frame? Can I act after a 10 frame? I seem to get punished but its safe offline.

The thing is I don't trounce "fellow noobs" it has gotten to the point nobody rematches me out of pity.

If you lost over and over with no signs of improvement to you chalk it up to being in a mental block or do you change to a character that focuses on your strengths or soul search until you find the one? I took the advice of some streamer and picked who I liked but its not working out at all.

This desu. I played the fuck out of SF4 and REALLY tried to like SFV. But nog even Akuma in that game managed to make me stay. He's actually really well done in this game, and he's my favourite one to play after King.

Absolutely impossible. The only reason it works for SFV ("works") is because it uses its own ID system and settings even on console (not PSN).

Then, say Rocket League, all it does is random matches, no way to invite or make friends across console.
