Why is this game hyped again?

it's a mainline DQ game.

How many times are you going to make this exact same thread?

>No voice acting

That's a good thing though.

sonygros are staring for games, so they will digest and shill anything that resembles a game

Until you stop replying

>MIDI soundtrack
Only bad feature, a big one tho

But ps4 has like 10 times as many exclusives as the wiiu/switch/bone, why would they be starving for games?

>Not orchestrated
What the fuck? It would add so much to a DQ game.

Why do people find games like this exciting or interesting?

>>No voice acting
Thats a plus

>>No voice acting
>Unlike the original Japanese version of DQ8, the North American and European localizations of the game mark a departure from previous Dragon Quest titles due to the inclusion of voice action.

>>MIDI soundtrack
>In the Japanese release of DQ8, the game features sequenced music, whereas the North American version contained the symphonic suite orchestral recordings performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, with Sugiyama serving as the conductor.

year old gameplay
Don't fix what isn't broken.

>>No new features
It's a new game. That's enough.

Because they have no taste

>The old games are all shit and keep doing shit things, therefore the new release must also be shit.

Cuck logic senpai

I haven't looked up anything. Is this more like 8 with actual characters, or 9 with choose your own classes gameplay? I like both, just want to know.

>The old games are all great and keep doing great things, therefore the new release must also be great.

ftfy

I really like the graphics on this game. I'm not sure what it is, but it's a nice blend between "realistic" and stylized.

>no dank britbong dub
>garbage midi when they have access to an orchestral suite
>composer is being so much of a fucking jew he isn't even letting the japanese release use the orchestrals this time

killed all my hype

stop samefaggin, OP

You'll never get to play it anyway. filthy gaijin.

Who cares? It's going to be shit.

>Featuring Not-Bianca and Not-Not-Trunks.

sources?

k

The composer never gives the chink audience orchestral anyway....that is a privilege for ypipos

(You)

Didn't X have an orchestral score?

DQ8 on 3DS has orchestral in Japan and midi in the Western release.

>>No voice acting
Nice, never played any dragon quest, might buy it.

Because when you desperately chase improvement and innovation you end up with modem FF.
The Enix part of SE knows who buys their games and why so they deliver.

Why can't nostalgiafags just have a game or two released that completely and totally pander to them once every few years without people questioning it?

Seriously. You have so many fucking video games made for you every few MONTHS.

Let these assholes have a game or two.

Fuck sake.

I literally boycott the series for this

DQ gets dickloads of spinoffs, though.

This.

And this.

Thank god the DQ staff hasn't drank the fucking open-world/action combat koolaid.

(You)

and I'm sure SE's really feeling the pain from that one lost sale.

>I enjoy stale old gameplay over new and fresh innovation

casual

But they fell for that meme with 10, and incidentally with 9

Small changes build up over time.

waah you have a differing opinion

I wasn't talking about DQ specifically, just games that are "stuck in the past" on purpose to pander to neckbeard 30+ year olds who just want the same thing as the stuff from their childhood.

There are so many modern games, I was just saying leave the nostalgiafag neckbeards alone when a company gives them a game or two.

What was different about IX other than the multiplayer shit nobody used ever?

Until we beat those new Vegas fsgs

No party chat
No unique characters
No story
Heavy focus on grinding and mmo tier fetch quests

9 was meant to have 10 action style battles but japs got so angry they changed midway

Because they tend to interfere with new folks and

Look at genwunners in Pokemon for instance. Other gens don't even get a dick worth of because Gen 1 gets most of it.

why was almost every triple-A game hyped the last years?

Because it's good.

You do realize this is coming to the 3DS and Switch too, right?

Because the most iconic Pokemon characters are from gen 1, especially the first 4 and their evolutions (pikachu, squirtle, charmander, bulbasaur).

Early screenshots of 9 suggest it was going to be like the ds crystal chronicles games, not at all like 10. I'm personally glad they changed it.

Since it's going to be best on PS4, it'll technically be a PS4 exclusive. That's what PC master racers and BotW Switch owners have convinced me of.

DQ is really good and I'm hyped.

Not even a nostalgiafag, I started the series like 18 months ago and it's been one of my favorites since.

mad?

>Since it's going to be best on PS4
>it'll technically be a PS4 exclusive
Neither statement is true.

>DQ
>AAA

Top lmao newfriend

Why do you think this game was meant for you? They changed stuff in DQ games and people got pissed. Now they aren't changing shit. They literally pander to their target audience. They don't need your autism or your money.

They do tho, square nearly bankrupt itself making final fantasy 15

>exciting or interesting
Those aren't the only reason to play a game.

Oh look, this thread again. Alright, if you want another round of being proven wrong.

>No voice acting
Is the best feature the game has yet.

>MIDI soundtrack
It's synth. And all Japanese games do it. Every game gets a Symphonic Suite about 9 months after the main game released. We got orchestrated music in DQVIII because it came out after the Symphonic Suite. And they very well could do the same for DQXI.

>30 year old gameplay
Wow, this game plays exactly like Dragon Quest I. With only one party member and a first person view. You're totally right.

>No new features
Revised skill system, new exploration options, on field enemy encounters with no transition (think Chrono Trigger), horse riding, new type of alchemy, expanded casino. And that's just the things they've announced so far. We barely know anything since Yuji Horii is being very tight lipped about it.

JRPGs are back.

Its because "tradition" for Japanese and to be honest a head of developers is just an old guy, I mean, HORII YUJI
Its the same thing for Zelda not having voice acting except for cut-scenes

And MIDI soundtrack is always with mainline DQ series weather western like or not, even in DQ8 that actually got orchestra especially for western

I don't know yet the game will be released in western countries but if they will release the game you can expect they will add orchestra ver with it

>Its the same thing for Zelda not having voice acting except for cut-scenes
And they added voices in the last game and it was a disaster. You're proving the biggest example of why Dragon Quest shouldn't have voice acting. That and Dragon Quest already tried it before. And it led to two decades of shitty dialects.

Been waiting for this game since Blue Dragon

Exciting, I'll give you, but:

>a game shouldn't be interesting to play

Fucking JRPG fans, everyone.

Wait would have been fine if we actually got Dragon Quest X. But shitty internal politics in SquareEnix means the western fanbase gets screwed on an entire generation of DQ games.

For real though when are we getting those 3ds spin offs?

>Fucking JRPG fans, everyone.
Don't lump everyone together because one guy doesn't know how to explain himself correctly.

I find Dragon Quest plenty interesting. It can be exciting as times like the plot twists in DQV or the boss fights in DQVII. But the series on the whole is more about comfy exploring and taking your time. Really spending hours getting to know each character and developing a connection to them. Which is plenty interesting to some people. About 5 million of us.

you may be surprised, but for japanese standards, DQ is a triple-A game

Dumping stuff from my DQVII folder.

>No voice acting

So?

>MIDI soundtrack

Custom music nigger

>30 year old gameplay

Dont fix what aint broke. andI guarantee any "improvements" you have in mind would just fuck it up

>No new features

what do you want, a pokemon minigame?

I want to be mad at not getting DQX, but I know in my heart that it would've flopped so hard that we probably wouldn't have gotten DQ VII/VIII/XI

Because if it's not good then SE is officially shit tier.

...

...

WESTERN RELEASE NEVER EVER

The only good fucking games to come out of Squares shithole lately was Bravely Default and its sequel in terms of gameplay and it for the most part stuck to the basics while adding in the brave and default system. When you faggots say "muh innovation" you want a complete makeover. Stop using that word when you dont know what the fuck it means.

...

I agree. It's a shame

...

...

I'm not so sure it would have flopped. MMO fans are clamoring for an MMO that isn't a clone of WoW. And DQX would have been that game. It also was the successor to FFXI that all the FFXI fans want. And it has a bunch of other positives going for it. Plus, an MMO like this can make a substantial profit even if only 100k people are subbed to the game. And just the core DQ fans outside Japan would have supported those numbers.

The only thing that would have kept it back is if SquareEnix skimped out on marketing it. But they did even worse. They didn't even release it.

...

ive always thought that voice acting in rpgs of this kind ruined it
at least the english versions
staying true to the old formula is good to hear
after the path FF has taken i was worried for the genre
dont mind the soundtrack that much
and nowadays adding new features is just gimicky shit
im perfectly fine with this

...

It's one of the biggest franchises in nipland

...

...

So is Dynasty Warriors, but nobody considers those AAA either.

>they don't need to change shit up to pander to people who aren't their fans
>yes they do, FFXV bombed so they need to radically change the series like they do with FF!
If you're looking for a classic turn based JRPG type of game with no major gimmicks, your options are pretty limited and SE is taking full advantage of that.

...

8 had good voice acting though. But I might just be a sucker for British accents.
Yangus was fantastic

...

Aren't there still plenty released on handheld devices? Looking at the library of PSVita and 3DS, the most represented genre on recommendation lists is JRPGs.

It's not hyped.

Should I continue?

The term AAA is dumb anyway. People in the west consider the souls games to be AAA because they like them. But they were made at a fraction of the cost of a Final Fantasy game, just like Dragon Quest games are.

AAA is a measurement of cost and hype. And many of the best games out there are medium budget, medium hype games. SquareEnix has to spend 10x more advertising a FF game just to match the sales Dragon Quest gets with a few magazine ads and a promotional event. So I'm happy to say that DQ isn't an AAA game.

>Yangus was fantastic
This is the problem. Yangus is the only good voice in the game. And he stands out so much that people seem to have blinders for all the other bad voices. Trode was the epitome of hammy over acting. Jessica was bland. Marcello was downright awful. And most of the bosses and NPCs that got a voice were so bad that even a Tales fan out cringe at them.

People just seem to focus on Yangus. But one good voice doesn't excuse 50 bad ones.

Oh he mad

I said limited, not non-existent. Even with all the other stuff kinda like it, DQ sticks to it's formula pretty closely, and a lot of people like buying something with a pretty good idea of what they're going to get.

what the fuck? dragon quest 8 had an orchestrated ost

Read the thread. Both voice acting and the orchestrated music were added to the western release. The Japanese game didn't have them.

Then they did the reverse for the 3DS release. Proving that Japan likes to change shit in localizations for no reason.
