It got interest from some publishers and then they started work to expand on it (apparently it was really barebones, typical early access quality)

and that was the last anyone heard of it

probably in development hell, abandoned, or it's got an actual dev team and they're keeping their mouths shut

they used to post every little update on their site blog but since then have removed most of the old content, use arhive.org on their site and youll see a lot about the game

I think it's a much better system than Greenlight.

some people here pointed out that Greenlight can be exploited by joining some groups that mindlessly vote yes or something like that.
and Greenlight meant you had to pay $100 once and you would be able to publish as many games as you want, unbridled.

this new system means you pay $100 to publish one game, and Steam will refund you the $100 you paid if the game makes at least $1000 in sales. This should encourage you to make a game that would make at least $1000, unless you're a monkey who likes wasting $100 to make garbage.

back then, Greenlight pretty much had an entry fee of $100 that you had no way of getting back from Valve apart from sales.

Refundable $700-1000 should have been the bare minimum. If you can't get investors for that kind of chump change then your game is terrible, third world developer or not. No human moderators either, steam is shit tier as usual. Never forget they still want pay mods, laughable when they can't even work out full games.

What happens to the unreleased greenlit games? Synthesia has been working since the time of guitar hero and rock band games, it even has android and ios versions, but the developer refuses to launch on Steam because of the reviews, I guess nobody told him that Steam filters reviews from people who got the game on other storefronts.

you cannot give players the same type of feeling with generated/mashed together designs as you can with intentionally planned designs, period
