ONLY boss in the game with extremely fast recovery from attacks

>ONLY boss in the game with extremely fast recovery from attacks
>autistically flails his swords so you can't predict anything
>attacks have 280 degree arcs
>fight turns into waiting for stamina or DIE because attack windows are very snall

You literally cannot defend this.

I almost forgot that he fucking HEALS unless you go through the rape dungeon and look for a chest in a hallway with fucking 6 skeleton archer sword enemies

very fun and engaging boss

>has two different swords with wildly different weights
>perfectly balanced
>swings them with equal amounts of effort
>no hint of weight in the animations at all

Souls has never been completely free from this kind of anime bullshit, but if this was a Miyazaki game he would have at least dragged the big sword around or something.

>every single attack is simple and telegraphed enough to be able to do this

In a game full of easy bossfights I was pretty happy to struggle somewhat with this dude.

Beating the fume knight is so satisfying because he doesn't roll over and die like a bitch.

>roll over and die like a bitch.

That how alot of hosts tend to die when I went in random cooping. Alot of people seemed to roll his 1 armed sweep, but roll into the back end of it, or just get wiped by his plunge.

Pretty much the best boss in the series. He's a good balance between cool factor, fun gameplay mechanics and challenge.

>b-but he's just another humanoid with a sword!
Yeah, just like any non-shit DS boss.

OP on suicide watch

this

the non humanoid bosses are often quadrupeds, and so the fight often turns into hugging their belly all day or keeping your fist up their ass the whole fight

Incorrect.

Best boss in the franchise.

>I can't beat this boss by circle strafing around him and hitting him during his animation what the fuck shit game
okay

absolutely.

i spent 3 fucking days trying to kill this asshole until i memorized EVERY SINGLE MOVE he had.
at the end i was like neo.

His little off-hand sword caused me more grief than the xXx_BL4CK-F1R3_xXx-98 mode.

I'm playing through the game now and i see butthurt about this boss in almost every ds2 thread is he really that bad? Is he DLC or what?

Just stay behind him in phase 1

You almost can
>roll during under his small sword during his easy combo
>this gets you behind him
>attack
Then repeat ad infinitum.

He's a fantastic boss that actually requires starategy and precise rolls, similar to Veldstat and yes hes DLC.

Literally just dodge to his right

>he's this bad at souls

I used Velstadt's helmet to get him all edgy straight away. The black fire has some huge hitboxes but is quite easy to dodge.

funny, i didn't died one single time to Veldstat, but a shitload to Fume Knight

>3 days
You're fucking slow

Oh, come the fuck on. He has like 5 attacks on first phase and 5 on second. All of them are easely predictable. Just put your shield in trash and learn to roll.

I haven't even touched the DLC outside of the first 2 areas of the sunken king. That's the most bullshit area in any souls game ever i can't imagine what the bosses are like. Fuq i'm going to over level my character.

Git gud, casul. Also, you're going to be absolutely ass-blasted once you reach 2cats, if you have problems with the areas themselves, LMAO.

Holy shit, not even tears of denial. That's next level autism.

>autistically grind monkeying studying patterns makes games trivially easy

who would have thought?

What's wrong with this? You can SL1 any DS boss with your bare fists.

MEANWHILE IN THE ABYSS WATCHER'S ROOM

Spending 50 minutes on a single attempt, with no doubt it taking far more than one attempt. That's what's wrong with it.

The DLC's scale with your soul memory so it's hard to be over-leveled for them, you can definitely be under-leveled though

What's even more horseshit is that those stone guys are immune to magic damage so i just created a new character and gave up. It was impossible on my mage.

How useful is poison in this game? iv'e never used it. Can it be used on bosses or are they status immune? It would be pretty great if you could cheese them with the poison dagger.

>ONLY boss in the game with extremely fast recovery from attacks
lol was OP joking or what?
those are some slow as fuck attacks/recovery times.

Depends on the boss

I think only a couple bosses are poison immune, but almost all of them have very high resistance and you will need a fast hitting poison weapon to apply it. It's not really worth it. Poison makes clearing areas super easy, but time consuming

You only need 4 wedges and the game throws enough at you, if you're not wasteful or lazy.

>swings them with equal amounts of effort
And how is this wrong, you fucking retard? Equal amount of effort does not equal equal speed of motion, which is exactly what happens in this case: he swings his straight sword much faster than the big-ass UGS.

>no hint of weight in the animations at all
Absolutely wrong, you fucking mouth-breather. The "weight" is imparted to the animations by giving character moves inertia that can be easily identified by the player and, again, this is exactly what happens in this case, since Fume Knights UGS moves have much longer recovery times, compared to his straight sword moves.

I'm not even fucking at mongoloids like you because of this game or character specifically, but because shitstains like you like to pretend they're smart by spouting nonsense they don't even understand themselves. Neck yourself, you fucking scum.

Poison is super good in DS2

>The DLC's scale with your soul memory
Is... is this true? Is this why they were so damn difficult no matter what level I was?

>I'm not even fucking
*I'm not even fucking mad

Would you say it's worth dumping my dragon bones into the poison dagger boss weapon?
i don't want to waste my upgrade material but i want to cheese anyway i can, it's fun.

No. Get a bow with poison arrows and you'll get the same effect without wasting upgrades. Poison on bosses just isn't worth it, they'll be almost dead by the time you apply it, if you can keep up constant attacks.

If you're talking about Mytha's bent blade, then it's definitely worth against non-poison immune enemies, as that particular dagger is the best poison inflicting weapon in the game, since it inflicts the toxic status, not just poison.

This cunt took me so long to beat. It wasn't until an user suggested using a Rapier. Piece of piss after that.

Poison arrows don't inflict toxic status, so you're wrong.

no hes retarded

nothing in any souls games scales except souls required for the next level

The difference between a poison kill and a toxic kill is about 5 seconds, and the base damage of a fully upgraded Mytha dagger will bring almost everything near death by the time you're actually putting the toxic on.

Poison arrows are safer and cheaper.

Very useful, a poisoned Ricards Rapier can poison proc most bosses in one of it's special charged R2's. Just whip it out in boss fights, get the poison and switch back to you main weapon.

I hate this fucker, he's not THAT hard but the problem is he's too fucking fast and hard hitting. It's like Ancient Dragon, you just keep rushing in until you figure out the moveset and how to cheese it.

You convinced me that sounds fun as hell

Just get some ADP, and he's easy.
Only boss in the series that I've performed a no hit run on.

Literally this, with good adaptability and dex build this boss is a joke, like all of the game.

I-It's true user....

You can use the dagger as your off-hand weapon. Whenever you need some tough enemy poisoned, just switch from your shield or your 2h stance and slash them until they get toxic. Toxic does over 1500 damage over a short period of time, IIRC, so it's very powerful.

>The difference between a poison kill and a toxic kill is about 5 seconds

The difference between poison and toxic is not just the rate of damage being inflicted, but the total amount of damage as well. Toxic does almost 1.5 the damage poison does and is much deadlier.

Sorry, wrong picture.

it's not

>you just keep rushing in until you figure out the moveset and how to cheese it.

Every DaS2 boss in a nutshell

Toxic may deal more damage, but in the end it's pointless because the enemy will be near death by the time you apply it. Like another user said, Ricards Rapier or poison arrows are much more reliable methods of poison.

Pontiff is one of the few bosses in DS3 that's actually easier to beat with a shield. He has no guard breaking attacks apart from a single VERY telegraphed stab that is easy as fuck to dodge and his other attacks do fuck all stamina damage, if you have a shield with good stability. Fighting him with a greatsiheld and a fast, long reach weapon like the follower sabre or some kind of spear turns the fight into a joke, you literally don't even need to roll apart from dodging that one stab.

>Fume Knight
>hear he's the hardest boss in the series to some people
>Get to him
>Suddenly feel like I did something wrong and did a one-shot only one hit run (that fucking hit box on his sword-hilt? That's a shitbox right there)

It's weird because I died 21 times in total to Orphan and at least 30 on S&O

> Best boss in the game
> Has one of the boss rooms in the series with the Last Giant
I honestly think Fume Knight would be in majority of peoples top 10s if it had a room that didn't look like a small cave.

What's wrong with the arena? Its no Gank Squad or BIK but its not awful.

This is a tough decision, i want to save my ricards rapier for a dark enchant because i'm running a pyro/dex build. I already have a fire enchanted katana but it does nothing in fire keep and i want some variety. I think dagger is the way to go for this build, i don't want a main weapon that poisons, just a little gimmick for tough guys i can cheese and for fun.

But Veldstadt is so easy that he is an add in another boss fight.

>Pontiff himself
>Pontiff Knights
>those Hollow Manservants with the giant saw
>those Lycanthropes
>the Outrider Knights

"Hey guys, why don't we make a lot of these fucking huge dudes and then give them combos that go on for fuck ever and if you ever stop rolling away from them you get your shit totally wrecked? Seems like great game design"

He's pretty tough in the 2nd DLC. I don't think I've ever beaten him.

Isn't Poison the go to method of killing the three Giants under the Black Gulch?

>What's wrong with the arena?
There's nothing wrong with it, it's great: it's properly sized and it fits the fight thematically, since the floor is actually a layer of ash. The size of the arena is well thopught-out too, because, if you don't destroy all the ash diols before facing him, you will have to confine yourself to a part of an already not-so large arena, so you have to carefully manage your space and keep the Fume Knight away from the idol, if you don't want him to heal.

Holy shit wtf, i just started up the game and it put me in online mode for no reason i see signs and everything. I don't have PS+ and don't have a free trail going. WTF happened? I'm spooked, did i just get really lucky or what?

It's small, looks similar to some previous boss arenas (Last Giant, Gank Squad, color scheme same as in Ruin Sentinels, the ash looks like sand from the Scorpion Quelaag fight). It's unimpressive, especially when the DLC has some of the best views and visuals of the whole game. Alonne has a great room. He feels like the final boss. Fume feels like it needs some grand architecture, an Ashen throne or something of similar ridiculousness. I guess its also a DS1/2 thing with a lot of bosses having rooms that are quite plain. Think of DS1 Demon bosses, for example. Only with DS3 they started to make every boss into this epic fight in an epic environment.

>It's small
That's actually a feature due to how ash idols and his healing work and it was implemented pretty well, because it forces the player to manage his space carefully.

>looks similar to some previous boss arenas
>It's unimpressive
Not an argument.

I can't even be bothered picking this apart lmao do you speak English

Actually, he did make an argument for why it was unimpressive visually.

>he did make an argument for why it was unimpressive visually.
By stating a subjective opinion based on his "feels"? Here's a game you and him need to play before continuing the discussion.

We were having a discussion on the visuals of the arena as motivated by the original post, so I think subjective taste is fine. And if you think people can't discuss subjective issues, you might have autism.

> Similar assets to previous boss fights
> Does not utilize the graphical assets that make Iron King DLC look distinct
> The color scheme removes the ashen feel of the zone

>It can be beat without taking damage if you're really autistic about studying everything about it

Everything ever is fair!

>The color scheme removes the ashen feel of the zone
How fucking retarded are you? The floor is literally a pile of fucking ash, the ash makes a distinctive soft sound when you roll or step through it. Do you just spout random nonsense without thinking for a single fucking second with your empty head? Holy shit, this is beyond fucking retarded.

You can reroll your stats at any time by visiting the old ladies in things betwixt.

You consider this difficult to study? There are like 4 different attacks.

Yeah i could've done that but i like to have multiple characters with different builds, i'l try it again someday.
