Didn't grab me. Got bored 3 hours in.

just wait for sonic mania

hk is good tho

Agreed.

still shilling this piece of shit

I'm actually amazed at how good sonic mania looks. It doesn't even seem real to me.

Stay mad

It doesn't start feeling right until you unlock a few mobility options. It's a long game, you were only at the beginning

So far for me it is, I played the shit out of it and now eagerly await whatever updates they'll bring.

One of the few games i regret pirating.

It's p good. I prefer my Metroidvanias to be more compact though. The huge map makes backtracking feel like more of a chore than usual.

was for me. Proved every argument that claimed devs can't do high quality 2D because it's too expensive wrong.

Is it true that its badly optimized and that it drops frames even on good machines ? Because looks wise it should run on a 2008 potato

Ive been avoiding it for that.

This game must be the most overshilled game (that isn't a AAA) I've seen here yet.

Sure the visuals are polished the game just looks way too fucking boring and samey and exploration doesn't feel nearly enough satisfying like this.

>metroidvania
>doesn't give you any abilities to make the platforming or combat not dull as fuck until several hours into the game

i'm willing to shill for this game for free months ago,
because it was criminally underrated.

but now that it's popping up everywhere on Sup Forums and everybody seems to know it already, i don't feel like shilling for it anymore...

it's still a great game though.
full of wasted potential,
but decent enough for indie games

you're genuinely mentally ill

To each their own I guess, for example people like to call Ori a metroidvania, but for me the game was so streamlined and short that it just barely meets the criteria.

It had a stuttering issue and some lag when items dropped in the early versions. It's been patched now and from what I've read it runs flawlessly on most machines.

I prefer dead cells personally, but I just bought it last month so we'll see if it manages to hold me.

Anyone else see the new trailer for hidden dreams?

>it was criminally underrated.
yeah, it was underrated for like 2 days till the hundredth thread shilling how this is the game of the decade popped up

This game is way too fucking overrated since then, especially considering that it didn't do anything new or amazing, it's just a decent metrovania game.

Should i toss my money out the window and try playing it on a 2.66 Ghz dual core ,4 gigs or ram and a 650 ti ?

It runs on my 2010 potato fairly well, not perfectly, but well enough that I cleared the no death mode and got 100% without much trouble.

On Sup Forums who isn't? If you're gonna criticize a game actually do it.

youtube.com/watch?v=7Q-HWedUolo
The trailer isn't very impressive, but free content is free content. Looking forward to Dream Zote and Dream Poop Guardian.

You can still buy it to support the devs.

>Proved every argument that claimed devs can't do high quality 2D because it's too expensive wrong.
>high quality 2D

It really isn't. It looks nice, but it manages to achieve the animation by using a low amount of frames, and an incredibly simplistic artstyle with no shading. When someone came up with the character/enemy designs, they more or less asked "how can we make the easiest possible thing to animate." Even then, none of the animations are especially nice to look at.

>download game to give it a try since it's shilled hard on Sup Forums and it actually does look nice, looks relatively polished compared to most indie garbage
>map is fucking huge, which usually is not a bad thing but this game gives you zero direction of where to go or what the fuck you're supposed to even do hen you start
>most exploration is pointless anyway because you don't have the skills to proceed through the areas you find
>just running around aimlessly looking for an area you can actually proceed to, feels more frustrating than fun
>combat is shitty, you have no movement skills or even a dodge function to avoid attacks, just hit the boss once or twice then manually walk away or jump and hope it's enough
I dropped the game after the first major boss and a couple of mini bosses. Just feels too tedious and not very fun. I'm sure it gets better when you get some skills but if that's the case it should be giving you the important skills much faster. At least a dodge/dash skill should be baseline. I also didn't really like any hit taking off a full health section, it was only the first few areas of the game and there was already some really dumb and annoying flying bug enemies. I think a zelda heart system where hits can just do quarters of your health sections instead of the whole thing at once would have been more ideal. That way proper enemies do high damage and take off a full section per hit while the annoying little flying bug enemies only do half a section or something.

Overall seems like an okay game but a lot of wasted potential.

Yeah, well that's what you get when you trade detail for expansiveness, but then again around 4 people did this on a budget of just $120k aud. It's impressive that they were able to populate such a massive world at all.

You get the dash after the next boss, and then wall-jump shortly after that. The game really breaks open from that point on.

I haven't played it yet but I wouldnt be surprised if it is.

can almost guarantee this will be better than everything else we've gotten so far though.

You beat one boss out of 40+ and youre saying the game is wasted potential? You really dont have the right to an opinion dude.

It was an amazing game, even had a nice story to boot. I agree with OP. inb4 shill because I like a game.

What's the point in buying something i won't use?

Yes.

>lost 1000 geo in the city of tears
>alt F4
haven't touched the game in weeks

It was the most boring game of the year

Also despite answering yes: fuck the white palace and fuck the devs for putting it in the game.

The refund system is there for a reason.

I haven't had the urge to play Dead Cells once since I beat it. There's no reason to replay it for me, as good as it is.

1000 geo is scraps

are you excited for Dream Zote being the hardest boss in the game?

I just looked on the wiki and there are 18 major bosses, not 40+. Why lie?

it's not 40+, but it's also not 18. The dream warriors are also bosses, and if you're feeling a bit generous, you can add the 3 alternate version super-bosses, and it gets closer to 30

I still have to beat the Trial of Fools, kill the Failed Champion and Soul Tyrant, help the Grey Mourner, then beat the game.

I truly saved the worst for last.

I've been playing this shit for almost 3 months.

Not a huge fan of it, but yes, it is really good
There just weren't that many good releases so far in 2017

Some tips if you want them:
>Fools
Finish Grey Mourner first.
>Champ
Patience.
>Tyrant
Left is best and take a breather when he transitions on the left edge.
>Mourner
Clear the path, don't sit at the Mourner's bench, then do it.

>stuck in white palace
>still have to kill most of the dream bosses
>still haven't beat the final boss and probably never will

Oh well.

>White Palace
Shit would have been a bit of a challenge if I hadn't been to The Hive first

Oh shit, I've never been there.
The timing on the jumps is too tight,
coupled with the fact that you slowly go down on the walls forces you to repeat every single part a hundred times. I've never been too good at platforming.

Hive has a charm called Hiveblood. It's basically unlimited tries at every single jump in Palace.
Fun fact, White Palace was originally going to have 2 full bosses.

But I don't know where it is located. And I kinda have infinite tries with a bunch of trinkets, I just don't feel like trying over and over again.

Ah I see. That's fair.
The Hive is the lower-left edge of Kingdom's Edge, main area is accessible through a breakable wall.

Well it's one of the best games but early 2017 has been pretty damn good so it's got a ton of competition.

I don´t know guise, I pirated it and played it a bit loved it, should I now wait for the switch version (I will buy the switch next year) or just play when I need to work?

How do I beat the Lost Kin?

Just wail on him, literally. Every second not spent hitting him is a second you spend dying.

I tried that in a bout of frustration but he was clearly out-DPSing me.

But it's shit.

Then go get more Charms and Charm Slots. Cause all I used was Defender's Crest, Quicknail, Fragile Strength, Steady Body, and Stalwart Shell.
Heal once when you stun him unless you hit him again. You need to stun him like 7 or 8 times.

Does Hollow Knight have any Waifu's?

Yes, yes it does.

There are like 4 waifus maybe more

Is that gay

Get good, mantis lords should be dead in an hour tops

>still only 120k sales
I don't get it.
after all the daily shill threads Why don't more people buy this ?
It's only fucking 15 buck for fuck sake

Shovel Knight plays, looks and sounds like a game from 15 years ago yet it still manage to have ~450k sale

Hollow Knight is fucking amazing.
I don't fucking get it.

Shovel knight is also a great game.
Why act like it's one or the other

Aren't they different genres? You should compared it with other metroidvania.

>what is gog
Probably sold like 50k or more on gog

You can't play with an XB1 controller if you're using Windows 7 for some reason. The game has a ton of stupid bugs like this and the fact that the devs didn't patch them months ago shows how fucking incompetent they are. The game literally has a disclaimer before the game strongly recommending you play with a game pad, then it turns out a lot of game pads are not compatible. That's retarded. That's bullshit.

inb4hurdurrimplayingwiththiscontrolleranditsfine

>50k
lel no

Why did literally all of you ignore the fact that HK has only been out for 3 months and SK has been out for 3 fucking years

So what's the Story of this game? Why do all the enemies leak out this orange juice?

Have you even beaten the game?
The TRUE final boss caused it.

Same, lost 2k
I died on the boss, wanted to speedrun back to it but got fucked by the flying wizards
I used a trainer to get back my 2k tho

It'll get it's sales from the Switch version, the thing has such a game drought that some terrible games are on the top charts in the Nintendo Store.

I watched a playthrough of the bosses. The game looked like fairly generic 2D sword combat and I've seen all the enemy patterns before.

True final boss sequence was beautiful though.

Because most sales happen in the first few months of launch, when you still have publicity from websites reviewing your game.
After that you can't only depend on the occasional Steam sale,
Most of the time people won't even know you exist.

>You can't play with an XB1 controller if you're using Windows 7 for some reason

How? I used a DS4 at launch but since the 1st patch I've used an Xbone controller. Windows 7 implied.

Spoilers ahead.
The Old Light, Radiance, is ruler of the area not yet known as Hallownest, worshiped by the moth people.
The Wyrm, sheds its body somewhere over the Kingdom's Edge and takes on the form of a semi-humanoid bug-creature. As to why, we do not know.
He finds the creatures of the area and gives them the gift of the New Light, sentience and such.
Whether Radiance was a physical being or an incorporeal one is also unknown, but they became enraged because, excluding the Moths, all its old subjects left, praising the new King. In time, it created a virus infused with its power so it would never be forgotten and would rule forever. Only the Moth People are immune to this virus, their spirits the same as Radiance. The virus itself, if a creature succumbs to it, makes them forsake the New Light for considerable power. Its physical manifestation is orange pustules and blood being replaced with orange goo. Just because you are infected however, does not mean you have lost the New Light. It has to break you first.

I'd prefer if the game got good

It's great but its sounds are very quiet. It's like hearing bugs having a fight.

>the game didn't hold my hand so I hate it.

>venturing into dangerous areas with a full wallet

t.casuals

>New Upgrade: Dream Gate - Discover a whole new method of traversing Hallownest! Slice through the Veil and travel in an instant from one corner of the kingdom to another.
Goddamnit, I could've used that earlier.

That's nioh for me.

Dreamers should have been actual bosses.

There's already boss fight before every Dreamer.

The dream bosses and trial of fools were great, challenging stuff and felt great to finally complete. I 100% the game, and I'm considering doing a steel soul run eventually

Herrah.

when is this coming to switch?

I wonder if you can cheese the flower sidequest with that.

>Please welcome Shark Jump Studios. They’re an Adelaide based coding/development team, and we’ve brought them on-board specifically to help us get Hollow Knight’s Switch version tested, polished and ready for it’s console debut. Between the two teams, expect Hollow Knight to land on Switch in a not crazy (though still unspecified!) period of time.

Apparently in a not crazy though still unspecified period of time.

It will definitely just break the flower if you use it.

So anytime something bled the Orange juice they were infected? Even Uumuu?

>mfw finished the game with 24k

You run out of things to buy quickly, the game throws vendor-trash at you like it's nothing, and the most expensive item/upgrade costs only like 4000 or something.

Crybabies.

Yes. Even Dung Defender.

Protip for the dream bosses
fragile charms don't break

i found it painfully average. didn't manage to develop an atmosphere but it's a decent game.

better ones from this year would be monolith (goty for me so far), attack on titan, and even dead cells for pacing it sets.
