i've put over a thousand hours into PoE but if someone told me they only have 20 hours to put into a game I'd recommend D3
if you aren't putting in the time to understand and make use of the mechanics PoE is just a bad game with skills that feel like shit and boring monsters. D3 at least has viscerally fun gameplay for a casual playthrough or two

Witch is the feminine form of warlock. Wizard is unisex. Also different world and all that, Sanctuary uses wizard as a general derogatory term for any magic user that didn't go to magic college.

As an ARPG, there is virtually nothing you can do wrong in your first playthrough. Everything is piss easy, equip whatever gear rolls the highest, build around whatever skills you want. Consider levels 1-70 the tutorial. After that you can start playing the game.
