Anyone who claims that shit like Lain or Angel's Egg is good needs to reevaluate their life.

It's much easier to write something simple yet pretentious-sounding by adding lots of "symbolism" instead of actually writing something good, and people tend to eat up the former because if it's hard to understand then that means it must be complex, right?

Angel's Egg story is shit-tier (it doesn't even have one) but the atmosphere is top-tier.
Many scenes are pretty cool too as the hunting fishes shadows for instance.

I'll admit that I don't understand Serial Experiments Lain, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much
That being said, I did really appreciate how much that show cares about real-world conspiracies
