Both games sold about 3.4 million units in about 2 months of sales.

Regardless of which game is currently ahead (I'm guessing Zelda myself because it was the only reason to own a Switch until MK8 Deluxe hit shelves), both have sold phenomenally well and far exceeded their critical and commercial expectations.

Personally, I own both, and they're easily two of the best games of the generation so far, so I'm delighted both are doing amazingly well.

It also speaks to how fucking brilliant this year has been for games that is not even say either are my game of the year. For me that's Persona 5, but gods damn are they both brilliant and deserving of ever sale they get.

Well it's impossible to tell which really was more successful without knowing precise figures for their budgets. Not to mention that BotW moved a lot of consoles, which allows Nintendo to double dip.

Overall I would estimate that BotW was better for Nintendo than HZD was for Sony.
