Sup Forums blown the fuck out per usual. Bloodstained's looking good. I'm so confident I've raised my backing from 28 dollars to 100 dollar Achemist version. Can't wait to see Sup Forums tears when this is released and gets rave reviews.

It looks much better, but still a bit ugly. Reminder that Hollow Knight looks a million times better and had a 10th of the budget. Iga has no excuse for going with 2.5D shit.

He's pandering to causal PS4 crowd and thought they wouldn't stand for 2D sprites, so he was forced to make it look "next gen."

Looks like dogshit got smeared on my monitor when I look at it. Makes me want to fucking puke.

It would look way better if it was 2D. It just doesn't feel... fluid, i guess?

inb4 the Bloodstained shill posts that Symphony comparison.

This.

>2.5D

How much of a shill do you have to be to think that looks good? It looks like ass, they should have sticked to 2D.

>Iga-sensei konichiwa arigato we need to choose an art director. We have these option-
>IEEEEEEEEE we need no art directa we using anrea enjino 4 is good gurafikku aredji no yen desu if we hire art director
>Iga-san please understand, UE4 is powerful but we still need an art directo-
*autistic japanese screeching*

The graphics look subpar, but it at least looks like it plays well. I'm more worried about how it looks like he copied areas straight out of Aria.

post yfw you didn't back Bloodstained

What's the point of this reskinned AoS/DoS shite looking heresy ? Just replay AoS/DoS.

...

...

...

Bad news in that case: that shit doesn't look next gen.

It doesn't even look current gen.

Hell, it missed the boat on last gen.

>I'm more worried about how it looks like he copied areas straight out of Aria.

You're LYING! He never cpoeid anything.

>hurr durr why make any new games? Just play the super pretendo games forever

>another 2D game
And into a coma of boredom I go.

...

Well the new stuff doesn't innovate in any way and looks worse, why bother ?

No offense but it looks like a fucking parody of video game. Complete, non-cohesive garbage .MN9 and Yooka Layle look good in comparison. Metroidvana market is so well-saturated that just looking at this game makes me cry.

Not liking having to hear her constipated scream and a pause screen every time she gets a shard/soul/glyph or whatever it is.

I think everyone including the devs wants to 2D but it's prohibitvely expensive and not really viable. Most 2D HD games either suffer massively from the costs and have very limited content (KoFXII, the new shantae game, skullgirls etc) because they don't have the time/money to do a full featured game in that style, and build on it in later iterations to get an acceptable amount of content, or they just try to do 3D models and minimise the damage, which KoF14 tried to do. Guilty Gear seems to be the only franchise that managed to do this well though.

It's a shame, I think everyone prefers 2D but it isn't an option for smaller devs. Look up how much the HD rayman games cost to make animation wise and how many staff were working on the animation.

...

>minder that Hollow Knight looks a million times better
The only "good" looking things in HK are the various actors' sprites all the rest is flash tier shit masked by clever use of particle effects and filters, and even those don't look any better than Bloodstained or even shit like Gunvolt.
The actual problem with Bloodstained, besides Sup Forums's rageboner for the game, is that the assets and general maps aren't polished so it's very easy to see how much is copypasted, especially since in 3D it's much more evident to see than 2D, they also need to drop that terrible UE vaseline layer and fix the lights, as far as I'm concerned it looks alright, but if they fix those problems and still keep the randmoly generated dungeon mode then I'm very probably going to buy this Igavania.

>Completely new series, with new direction, characters, setting
>New Publisher and company
>can take the series in any direction
>Konami doing jack shit and cock blocked Order of Ecclessia 2 on the 3DS like Iga wanted
>At least Iga, Curry the Kid, Ben Judd, Michiru Yamane, Inti Creates, and others get something to do and aren't starving on the streets

>gets a fair portion of people defending the game after ruthlessly spamming anti-shill threads for almost a year
>finally decides to switch it up and falseflag as a shill in order to make Sup Forums hate it again
Took you long enough to catch on.

I don't think you have much to base that on outside of it adhering to genre conventions generally and the artstyle of like three stages, which is generally consistent among all castlevania games. Virtually all of them have a town, a chapel and several of them also have ship stages.

>Hollow Knight is flash tier shit
>Bloodstained looks alright
lmao

the way the screen pans hurts my eyes, why does it feel so stuttery

>Metroidvana market is so well-saturated

Is it? Did I miss the secret release schedule for the initiated?

Sup Forums always hated this as much as we hated MN9

It's Iga directing a Castlevania game without the Castlevania license. The character is Shanoa and the universe doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table (painting-themed boss ? sinusoidal-pattern flying heads ? c'mon now.)

It's good that they're keeping busy, I'll agree with that much. I just don't understand why people are looking forward to it.

It looks ficking awful should be true 2d

...

You think I don't know that? All I'm pointing out is that since Sup Forums is inherently contrarian by nature, making "shitstained" threads every day started swinging the pendulum in the opposite direction.

Also, YOU didn't "hate" MN9. You've never played it, you just think you hate it because the consensus on Sup Forums is that it's a shit game. Think for your damn self once in a while.

>It's Iga directing a Castlevania game without the Castlevania license.

The director is Curry the kid actually. Here is an artist's rendering of him.

Next update is his AMA. Tweet suggestions/questions to him using:

>a 10th

A 100th, actually

>The only "good" looking things in HK are the various actors' sprites
>all the rest is flash tier shit masked by clever use of particle effects and filters

So it looks good, and when it doesn't, people only think it looks good because of clever tricks?

Sorry to break it to you, if people find it good enough, it is, "trick" or no trick.
We also have another name for "tricks": it's called craft. What you do to make what you can afford to make better than it should. What Bloodstained isn't doing for now, as much as I will defend the game, because what little I've played of it so far is promising

If that's your idea of looking good then I'd hate to see your idea of looking bad ( โ”ฮ„เจŠ)โ”

I played MN9 and I hated it but nice projections I guess.

It better be just early game and limited movement abilities because of that, movement looks slow as fuck.

>The character is Shanoa

Other than being a girl in blue, there's differences. Shanoa was emotionless and serious. Miriam is cute, less serious, and has emotions.

>and the universe doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table

First major console Metroidvania release since Symphony. How's that for something?

>I just don't understand why people are looking forward to it.
Probably because it's being done by the closest team to the one that was responsible for the granddaddy, all-time classic metroidvania that is Symphony of the Night. How is that remotely difficult to understand?

Fuck off Curry, work on your game if you want people to care.

Unreal engine was a grave mistake. This is ugly as all sin.

Yeah you can really feel the emotions out of the previews. I'm overwhelmed.

I understand that you're biased from either having backed up the game or being currently part of the staff developping it but to the rest of humanity it doesn't really matter that this game is going to come out on a handheld or a proper console. It's all about the game being good or not.

I understand what they were going for and on paper it seems like a nice idea but the render makes my eyes bleed.

Why the fuck does it look so shit? Trine is 3D and looks great so no excuses.

The engine has nothing to do with it, unless you think UE4 can't make good looking 3D.

It's a fucking abomination.

Anyone that actually likes this shit cannot be a real castlevania fan and is almost certainly an underage b&.

>Trine is 3D and looks great so no excuses.
You also need a master's in engineering to tell what's a level element and what's scenery in that game.

>unless you think UE4 can't make good looking 3D.

Another user here, but I'm actually trying to think of a good-looking games in that dev-cost range using UE4 and drawing blank.

Main character looks like a CV joke character.

>Trine looks great

I'd take Bloodstained over that bloomy shitty mess.

Anyone that likes Kobory cannot be an Amaburi fan and is almost certainly underage b&.

>wah wah ue4

it's the shaders, not the engine

is the shader also causing that strange stutter? you UE4 shill

If the game is so great, why does she keep stabbing herself?

Not him but Shitstained got 5mil from Kickstarter, probably then got more from investors. I doubt games like Paragon (shit as it is it looks good), Deathwing, and GG Xrd (which is on UE3 even) got much more.

I doubt SFV and Tekken 7 got much more than that as well. If you consider 6 from backers (dunno if they fleeced them for more post-KS) and another 4 or more from investors, that's $10mil or more, which is a lot unless you are a western AAA dev backed by a big publisher.

You don't know what an engine even is, do you?

Is this a meme? This game looks fucking awful. And I've never heard of it from anywhere except Sup Forums. Is the dev shilling or something?

true, I could have accepted 2D Backgrounds 3D Foreground Models (Maybe heavily stylized to at least look 2D) but comparing this to Hollow Knight is a bit of a disservice, Hollow Knight worked as a 2D game using what I assume is hand drawn sprites animated in Flash or Spine because it was still pretty minimalist in design, compared to something like Castlevania where almost each sprite is oozing in details the amount of time that is expended on artwork on Hollow Knight can't easily be translated to something high detail and still expect the same cost and time.

something about the movement still feels odd

Some people like being stabbed, some like doing the stabbing bby

>hurr durr i'm on Sup Forums again and don't know what video games are hephep

It's bait to reel in suckers like you.

Graphics are porn flash tier. Character and art design look really bad too. Looks like it plays slowly too.

She's in a 3D environment but looks like she's running on air. I would compare the animations as better versions of that shitty show RWBY or the recently released Berserk 2017 animation.

I'd prefer 2D but at least 2.5 gives costume change options.

I don't understand people bitching about the visuals. It looks standard, no worse, no better.

Blood lady has some clever stuff going on

leaked demo when?

It looks okay to me. I'm sure there's still a lot of work left to go into it.

Is there a release date?

Bullshit m8

Consesnsus was that the game was good when the demo was out

why are all the rocks so shiny?

First because it bears repeating: 5.5M on the Kickstarter page doesn't mean 5.5M in the devs pockets. There's the Kickstarter toll (used to be around 5% when Amazon was dealing with payments and too another 5%, I must confess I don't know how much they take nowadays). There's taxes you're going to have to pay on that money.

To that, you have to add in the case of a newly-formed studio all the invisible costs of creating the studio itself (though in that case it's probably not too much given the outsourcing). And conversely the money established studio will save by having their whole infrastructure a,d production pipeline already in place.

That being said, 5.5Million seems *extremely* conservative to me for SF5 or Paragon.

Last, but that's personal, I don't think those two games look good anyway.

...

That video where she is running in a cavern. It sounds like she's on a wood floor.

Sup Forums's anti-kickstarter boner has gotten out of hand

>First because it bears repeating: 5.5M on the Kickstarter page doesn't mean 5.5M in the devs pockets. Inafune said they only gto 60% of the money, so that's likely. But BS also got 4.4 million in Publisher money. So doing the math, it works out to 7.2 million budget total.

Is it me or is there there's something weird in the way they implemented that parallax-like effect?

I don't know, seems like that 2D tool adapted to 3D bears weird results, can't pinpoint what the issue is for now though.

it looks like shit but id still rather play it than western trash

Sup Forums was all over this shit when the demo came out last year. It wasn't until the delay that Sup Forums started forcing the BLUNDERSTAIN narrative. Also,

>Sup Forums is one person

>had a 10th of the budget
And 10th of the detail.

It's no Castlevania, but it's not the worst thing ever either. The shit posters and baiters should go fuck themselves.

It wasn't until the one guy autistically bitching about roof tiles each and every day

Althought there was also a mostly positive thread yeaterday, not sure the hivemind is decided

I dunno m8 it feels pretty much exactly like castlevania

The trinity of kickstarter Blunders
first might no.9
then Yooka-Laylee
and now this

>So doing the math, it works out to 7.2 million budget total.

Seems fair.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You go through enemies instead of rebounding when doing a double jump kick attack.

I forgot all about that guy. Most of the threads had one guy autistically bitching about some background element, come to think of it.

She's in a cave on and island, they're damp

>that last one
looks fun as fuck, hope it ends being good

...

...

>Yooka-Laylee
Come on now yooka laylee wasn't THAT bad.

Certainly nowhere near as bad as M#9.

Sometime next year.

I don't know if I would say that. The art definitely plays a part in the feel of the game, and there's a bit of inconsistency in the art here. For instance, the 2D looking chests and some of the cartoony looking enemies clashes with the more detailed 3D environments. The art itself is too sterile and dead feeling compared to pixel art.

Which is fine, I don't expect the old pixel art to be present, but it doesn't capture the look of the Castlevania games, and can not due to being 3D with a low budget (compared to AAA titles).

This might be the ugliest game ive ever seen

>tfw you backed Bloodstained

I don't think the game looks bad visually, but something about it looks off. Like, the character models and backgrounds don't mesh well
