Wolfenstein

Has anyone even played the first two Wolfenstein games?

Also, is the '09 game any good?

...

>Blasko calls a nuke strike on himself at the end of The New Order
>The New Colossus is supposed to be a sequel
How will they explain his survival

Have you played TNO or Old Blood since you made that image?

I've just gotten into TNO recently and I'm really digging it. It's a good mix of the mechanics present in the franchise, minus the magic in '09.

good to hear

Also while the story so far isn't amazing, it's clear that some actual effort went into it unlike in RtCW and '09.

>liking 09 but not RTCW

What's the Wolfenstein game between RTCW and TNO? I vaguely remember that game being released and then it drifting to obscurity almost immediately. You can't even find it on steam anymore. Was it any good?

It's fantastic. Play it immediately.

it's Wolfenstein 09, was published by Activision and developed by Raven Software. Since Bethesda gobbled up id, you won't see it on the Steam store again unless Beth and Acti make some sort of deal.

Should be able to find it on key sites, though

I felt that 09 was just a more fun game overall. It may have been that the sound design in Return was honestly weak or that in 09 you had Max Payne slow-down abilities, but I think that Return overshadows 09 a little too much.

Now if you want to get into some more contrarianism, my personal choice goes like:

Quake 1 = Wolfenstein 3D > Doom

The 2009 game, for the most part, is a pretty generic shooter. However it does have some really great weapons with surprisingly good gunplay and the bosses are a lot of fun.

Story is pretty basic for a Wolfenstein game and the characters are nothing special. The biggest problem with the game, for me at least, is the intermission levels where you have to tediously wander about an ugly city finding the next mission.

Overall I thought that game wasn't too bad, I would never spend more then $10 on it but it does have some great parts. 7/10, could have been better.

>Should be able to find it on key sites, though

I tried this for weeks, no luck. I found a GameStop 30 minutes away that had a brand new copy for $4.
This was a year and a half ago, however.

>the intermission levels where you have to tediously wander about an ugly city finding the next mission.

I personally didn't hate this too much, I liked the change of pace, and it made the game feel a little more connected.

Wolf 2009 is underrated as fuck, and way more fun than TNO crap.

>fun
So you can't actually explain why wolf 09 is good, got it

I mean and gave explanation.

09 is the best one.

Wait, there has seriously only been seven Wolfensteins before TNC? 2 of which being the ones before 3D?

I actually thought there had been way more.

There's Spear of the Destiny which is just an additional episode of W3D, and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which is just more RTCW multiplayer, hence why I didn't include those

>Also, is the '09 game any good?
no

>like Old Blood
>don't like new order

explain yourself

New Order felt too story driven and cinematic.
and Old Blood reminded me of RTCW.

>Spear of Destiny grouped with the shitty third party mission packs

Did you even play any of them?

Yeah, and the levels were solid. I didn't care much for the "new graphics and sound" but they were still enjoyable to play.

I don't get why you'd rank SoD below Wolf3D though, SoD easily had the better levels and better enemy variety (e.g. zombies mixed in with normal enemies)

>liking nu-Wolfenstein hating 2009 Wolfenstein

go away

2009 was pretty good, played it all the way through 3 times.
