Why isn't Nintendo the most popular video game brand ?

Why isn't Nintendo the most popular video game brand ?

They make the best games. Why isn't that enough?

Well do they make video games?

they should make some games then if they're so good

because marketing and hype is more important than actual games

But clearly they make more games than Sony and Microsoft combined. They don't just outsource all their games or buy them from studios for exclusivity, they develop and foster dev talent to create their own games.

Nintendo is the most popular video game brand you faggot.

>Tetris + Tetris variations = #1 selling
>Mario Series = #1 selling series

you're delusional

>Why isn't Nintendo the most popular video game brand ?

Why are you implying it isn't? Literally the first thing people think about when they hear "video games" is Mario/Nintendo sounds and "Nintendo" is the highest brand awareness in the medium.

>They make the best business decisions that earns them a profit
Fixed it for you.

They are?
Everyone knows Mario, Pikachu, and the Wii.

They are?
Everyone apparently loves Zelda

>remake the same game over and over
>drop IPs left and right
>jew practices
>doesnt listen to their customers
>more interested in standing apart from the industry than being part of it
>told third party developers to fuck off

They deserve all the shit they get today.

Nintendo continually makes less and less first party titles each year.

MADE the best games.

They haven't made anything good in a while.

If you think about it Nintendo has been making the same games since the 80s. By that I mean games that are steeped in traditional, arcade design.

More and more the average gamer finds themelves unable to be grabbed by Nintendo games. With Nintendo games, it's pretty much what you see is what you get. Colourful mascot characters collecting bananas & jumping on Goombas just isn't doing it anymore. As people get older this stuff gradually appeals less and less.

They haven't at all evolved from the 80s.

their games aren't as good as you make them seem

prove it

Because they make stupid kiddy shit aimed at toddlers and manchildren instead of mature games designed to appeal to adults

That's why.

Because they don't make the best games

I wonder if Nintendo would have just made a few changes how different things would be for them

>n64
Use discs instead of carts
>GameCube
>use normal sized discs/include DVD player
>Wii
Have graphics better than GameCube
>Wii U
Advertise it properly. Call it something other than Wii U
>Switch
Third party support

Lies

>implying they aren't
Many know of Playstation and quite a few Nintendo but way more people will recognise the Nintendo name than those two. Plus when you say Sony or Microsoft the first thought isn't always gaming. Everyone knows Nintendo as the gaming company. They're arguably more iconic than Atari.

>They make the best games.
they dont make games at all. they license their brand, make toys, port old shit, try to sell you ROMs they downloaded off the internet, plastic junk at triple the price, etc.

>Why isn't Nintendo the most popular video game brand ?
But they are, or at the very least they are the most mainstream video game company.

games dont sell. services do

Media hates them since they dont force diversity

basically this

>Nintendo is good at the hardest part of game development
>Isn't that enough

No it isn't because Nintendo actively fucks itself over everywhere else. Nintendo is fucking retarded. If Nintendo stopped with their hesitation to keep up with the times and stopped being so draconian with third parties, obsessed with propriatary formats, and stopped flagging fan games there would be no console war. It would be a console massacre. Nintendo is the absolute worst because it should be the absolute best, yet aren't. Nintendo is playing the game industry on easy mode yet somehow still manages to lose because they are so damn self-destructive.

But they are, everybody knows mario

They are the most popular video game brand though. People who don't know anything about games still know who Mario and Pikachu is. They're very popular with the normies.

If you're asking why they aren't popular with hardcore gamers, they're a completely different niche market entirely that Sony and Microsoft are already taking care of. Nintendo has no interest in putting more effort in that audience cause it's pretty oversaturated and doesn't have many kids to cater too. They're better of sticking to the handheld family audience they earned with the DS/3DS, and the Switch is a good balance.

Nintendo hasn't made a single good game since the SNES era.
Sony saved vidya in the 90s
