So post E3, is the PS4 Pro worth it, or should new purchasers stick with the OG/Slim?

Do you have a 4k HDR tv?
>fake 4K and no 4K drive
Hell no. Wait for the PS5, if Sony lasts that long.
Get a ps4 for like 170 with a game bundle.
It plays games fine, all the pro has is resolution and better framerate, but i don't think it's worth 400
nigga are you crazy. that shit is like twice the price of the slim for fake 4k. ps5 is coming soon anyways.
There is literally no reason to buy a Slim PS4 if you can buy a Pro it's called futute proofing.
Where can you get that for 170?
It depends what you want out of it. If you want 4K don't even bother. If you want 1080p with better framerates, resolution, vsync, AA, and so on then get it. There is no doubt the system still has two or more years on it, developers are forced to make modes for both 4k and 1080p ever since its release, and with every new game we've already seen tons of new games far outperforming the base PS4s. On top of this it increases general framerates or stabilizes the older games that never got a Pro patch via Boost Mode.
The only thing is do you care? It's $150 more for these features, if you do not care for a better experience in general and can deal with lower resolutions and framerates then ignore it, games will still work on the base PS4 just worse.
Future proofing, because in the future games will only work on Pro and not in the Slim. Because the different makes it worth to pay almost double. Because first party titles are not optimized to run decently on slim.
Why not just throw all your money down the toilet?
...
I'm replacing my OG for a Pro for the improved framerates. I'm not falling for the 4k meme.
Are they that common? Like how many games genuinely get better framerates on the PS4?
if you have a 4k TV it's defo worth it
there are legit 4k60 games like Fifa
1800p or checkerboarded is still a big jump from 1080p don't listen to Sup Forums, they're poor teenagers without 4k TVs
hell no nigga, just get the slim and use the rest for games
if you want graphics go pc
I heard someone say Sony demands that standard and Pro have a framerate parity in multiplayer games, so you're literally getting cucked there. Though it's worth it just for the single player assuming it's common enough.
that's fucking dumb
this generation might last another 3 years so just find the $150 and get the better machine
I don't care about multiplayer, but noticed enough slowdowns on several single player games. Some of them due to poor optimization, I'm sure.
Wait till 2018 for a price drop.
If you're buying a PS4 you might as well go with the pro, even if you don't have a 4K TV. It upgrades the visuals and/or the performance of games at 1080p.
I'm pretty sure that they are going to do some kind of discount this Black Friday due to xXxbonexXx's release.
I agree with this
Watch digital foundry vids on the Pro.
Battlefield 1 proves that wrong, if you're referring to the shit about bloodborne I'm convinced they either just did the typical jap shit and tied something to framerates or juwt can't be bothered, boost mode still makes it a little better
Pro if you can swing it. If you have a 4k TV then yeah, it looks better. Looks pretty good in upscaled 1080p as well. If you were in it for the graphix of course go PC, even Scorpio seems to have better specs. If you are in it for the games and/or playing with friends then Pro is the way to go. Better framerates and all that. Basically, the only real reason to get a regular PS4 is if you are totally strapped for cash and need to play (insert PS4 exclusive here) RIGHT FUCKING NOW for some reason
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 (Which means precedence for 3)
Yakuza 6
The Last Guardian
The Evil Within
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Bloodborne
Ratchet and Clank is stable compared to the base version and has better graphical quality to boot though the framerate problem is pretty minor on the base version.
Until Dawn
Driveclub becomes a stable 30.
Assassin's Creed Unity goes from 20ish FPS to a stable 30 with no drops.
Horizon Zero Dawn is a stable 60 with upgraded graphical quality but I can't remember what the base was. I think it wasn't too bad on the base though.
Knack
These are what come to mind right now, I'm sure you could find proper lists of what gets improved pretty well. Plus remember that in the future the parity will become bigger since we're already seeing it happen.
...
BF1 for example on the Pro is 1440p60
it's well worth it on a 4k screen
I don't feel duped, all the information (Digital Foundry) is out there
mid-gen console upgrades are the best innovation of this cycle, I'm not a poor Burger King cleaner, lots of people have the money to afford a graphics upgrade once every 3 or 4 years
Persona 5 has no pro features.
Even a fucking PS3 game?
I've barely played it on 4, since I finished it previously on the PS3, so I haven't noticed anything wrong with it.
There is always Boost mode.
P5 looks and runs like ass on Ps3. Why would you ever buy it for Ps3?
yes more fps.
the game runs 60 on all ps4s, you fucking dumbass. p5 doesn't get better frames on pro
I didn't, and I was recovering from surgery at the time, so I couldn't buy it for the PS4.
It runs a stable 30 fps even on the base PS4. There is no gain from boost mode here.
It's not even able to run it at 60?
If you don't care for 4K* graphics or VR, don't bother with the pro. Otherwise, wait til the holidays for price to drop.
>If Sony last that long
They'll be fine
No. All PS4s run it at 30 fps and there is no pro patch. The main difference between PS3 and PS4 is that the later runs at 1080p with no screentearing. No 4k of any kind or fps advantage for the Pro.
