GO IN THE FUCKING DOORS

I'm excited for this game and all, but Banjo-Kazooie did this nearly 20 years ago on the N64, there's no reason this couldn't have been done in 64.

Mario has finally embraced the minimalist HUD

yeah, it's just cool to see a mario game do it after all these years. it'll be pretty immersive to complete a stage without leaving it once.

This is going to have great shitposting potential, I tell ya.

god damn I want this game now

I hope the movement is as fun as Mario 64. Also peach is so cute!!

>Mario confirmed as a fedora tipper

Get out of here. I will NEVER support Mario anymore.

That makes me wonder actually about the ultimate question. Can you possess a female with the hat? If so, then we're in for a wild ride.

>Mario uses cap on grill
>hat ends up on their head
>Mario am become woman now
>still keeps jumping skill he had
>goes for a mushroom
>gets bigger, curvier and bustier
>this effect stacks with every mushroom they go for until hit
>the girl once the hat comes off stays that big
>yfw seeing Mario turn a girl into a giantess MILF titty monster

Unlike Banjo & Kazooie, Mario doesn't control like a tank.

>actually hyped for mario'06

All the girl characters we've seen so far wear hats, so probably not

With that fedora he could easily look

This is why it's exciting. 64 didn't do this.

This is a lie.

> all the girl characters are possessed by hats too

we're through the looking glass here people

>neckbeard mario throwing his fedora around

What do you mean? This M'ario is much better

more footage (15 mins)

>same old wahoo

who gives a fuck

>Without booting you out
But what about stage changes?

>Mario gets to be anything and anyone

I'm gonna have fun as a goddamn Bullet Bill.

What do you mean?

I don't see how Galaxy is like the 3D Land titles

Galaxy's levels were generally more linear than 64. You didn't really explore or complete special objectives as much as in the other games.

IIRC it's about exploration-based vs. sequential, self-contained levels

they'll probably occur in real time

It's course-clear as in get to the goal level style games.

I want more Sunshine. Summer vacation has been my favorite locale so far.

>completing an objective automatically activates the next one without booting you out of the stage

About time Mario caught up with that aspect.

Mario seems to accelerate a bit too quickly in this video.

>>completing an objective automatically activates the next one without booting you out of the stage
I've always wished Mario 64 was like this desu. Looks like they finally caught on.

>completing an objective automatically activates the next one without booting you out of the stage
This is a thing to be hyped about? Also when will nintendo stop putting pointless wagglan controls in mario games?

There are plenty of game mechanics that were around before that some franchises haven't utilized or put their spin on. Just because it has been done before, doesn't mean it can be done again and still be exciting and feel fresh.

it CAN'T be*
sorry

Don't use the waggle you faggot.

Why is Nintendo stuck in 1995? It's not that it looks bad, but this is the same game we played on the N64 20 years ago, just with better graphics.

Why are the levels so tiny?

I thought this game was supposed to be 64/Sunshine style

>makes pauline cry because she just got done shedding all the weight she gained since the 80s

>completing objectives

that's nice and all, but when are they gonna stop telling players what their objective is and focus on building actual fun gameplay designs?

I'm sick of handholding, just give me a game where they don't tell you what to do at all or whether you're winning or losing or progressing at all. I just want to have fun and not be told what to do

>Not wanting to go back to the golden age of games

dude have you played 64/sunshine? those levels were tiny as well. in fact the desert stage is significantly larger than any of them

i too never get excited for games

emm No. The Crash remake is EXACTLY that. Nothing wrong with that, I'm gonna buy it, but this is not that. Just because a game has the same mechanics and set up doesn't mean it's the same game. That makes no sense. Also why is Nintendo stuck in the 90s? Would you rather them be stuck in 2010s and make cinematic experiences and shove politics down peoples throats?

Yooka-Laylee proves giant platforming levels are a mess.

>only got the fedora and not the suit
What a fucking faggot

Don't try to make this about Crash vs. Mario. The new Crash is a 30 dollar remaster by a C-team, not a platform-defining game by one of the developers in the world.

Nintendo should be expected to at least attempt to move the platforming genre forward in some way, especially when a real 3D Mario game has not been seen in 7 years. For instance, taking the open-world concept and expanding on it in some enjoyable way. But what we see here is conceptually the same thing we saw in Mario 64.

Mario 64 utilized the world exit and re-entry by actually changing some worlds in a big way. Look at THI. It also provided different routes depending on which version you wanted to approach a certain star in.

dude, its the same shit that happened with starcraft

you just hit a point where if you push too much, it will all fall apart. its why you don't see any post 1998 RTS being heralded as the 2nd coming of godcraft.

you hit a point where shit is cool on paper, but just fucks up in dev. mario odd looks and sounds amazing, nintendo doesn't NEED to push the envelope further because they are masters of their craft

they will push it further when THEY deem so, not when you want it.
