Windows 7 is almost 8 years old, so yes, it really is that old. We just tend to forget because Vista and 8 had such short lives.
WIndows 7 is not DirectX 12 compatible, much like Windows XP couldn't do DX10.
It means they are going to put it behind their little app store and make you buy it through it. It's like GFWL except worse.
>DirectX 12
>DX10
I don't think you remember how bad GFWL was.
>Windows 7 is almost 8 years old, so yes, it really is that old.
8 years old being "really old" reflects changing fashions in software design (or anyway, programming language and API design), rather than something real or important.
7 is really old.
But that's not the point: the point is, Microsoft realized they can't make an overwhelmingly better system, so people won't spontaneously jump the 7 ship.
They have to be forced.
People also got stuck with XP, but the release of 7 (which was objectively better than Vista and XP) made people upgrade.
They released 8, people didn't care.
They released 8.1, people didn't care.
They released 10 FOR FREE expecting everybody and their grandma to get on their new cash machine, but it didn't happen.
So they have to force the process.
Everybody will eventually leave 7, the point is, how much can you endure the constant Microsoft bullying?
Windows XP was 8 years old by the time 7 released. The trend hasn't changed that much.
Well if all microsoft does is release their shitty "exclusives" then it'll be fine. Most big devs are starting to support Vulkan because it just has greater support across platforms and is usable on consoles too.
Microsoft is way over assuming the power they have over me as a consumer. I will sooner abandon Microsoft products in their entirety then join their shitty botnets. They need me more than I need Windows 10.
I's not because it's old it's because they want to push win 10 and its walled garden app store.
I might eventually downgrade to Win10 but I will absolutely never use UWP software.
fucking microsoft already won me over with forza horizon 3
The moment faggot Apple has a less babby-tier/jewish-oriented operating system than Microsoft, is the moment you realize something went really wrong
I'd say their neck and neck for being Jewish-oritented.
Then you're pretty cheap
A few years ago I might have "upgraded" if they promised me the whole Halo saga in 4K/60fps with revived multiplayer and worthy sequels in the works, but right now I guess they literally have to force me
they are just forcing people to upgrade at this point.
>People also got stuck with XP, but the release of 7 (which was objectively better than Vista and XP) made people upgrade.
huh? i'm still on XP. it's the fastest OS ever created
i ran some tests on a W10 machine and XP is simply faster
maybe microsoft didn't have poos and diversity hires yet
>What does "Windows 10 Exclusive" even mean?
Windows Store Exclusive and it'll check if you're using Windows 10 or not, so you won't be able to play it on Windows 8/8.1.
It also may mean that the game will use DX12 which is Windows 10 Exclusive too.
You can barely even play games on W10 with the botnet constantly logging everything you do and sending it to Microshit. Only the fastest SSDs and best connections can overcome the system slowdowns.
>but you can still play games offline
Y tho.
Thank god for dual-boot
>their
i'mma copy this shitpost and make it my own, thnx in advance
>dual boot
Probably one of the most autistic things you can do to a computer
they even made a 'game mode' that turns off some of the botnet while you play, but it actually made games slower
yeah so autistic XD
And so is that reply
And so is that (You) XD
I'd act as retarded as you if I dual booted too
Not even comparable.
Sure thing, you have to pay a kidney to get one of their overpriced machines, but the moment you complete your purchase is the moment they leave you alone. They're fucking scared about you leaving them as a company, because they don't have MS monopoly so they have to make sure you'll spontaneously keep buying their shit. So you get a PC that's expected to last at least 8-9 years, while most Best Buy prebuilts start melting or having problems after 3-4 years. You know about PCs? Then stay away, but if you're illiterate, going with Apple is literally the safest bet (if you have money at least).
The current Os has a set of limitations that makes impossible to get problems by messing with the system; if you know what you're doing, you can always disable the limitations and get full control of it.
At that point, it's basically a Linux distro with nice aesthetic and comfy gestures.
With Microsoft it's not that easy. You'll get a system that keeps asking for money. Filled with ads, everywhere; even fucking Solitaire is asking you to pay for DLC.
A system that lacks old features while introducing new, useless ones. A system that keeps sending unspecified data to unspecified targets for unspecified reasons (remember that Apple got in deep shit with the FBI because they won't let them make a backdoor on their systems -unlike Google and MS).
Other than that, you get basically no assistance (while Apple customer support is basically sucking your dick, pun not intended), and a vulnerable system that isn't even automatically protected by their makers (while Apple releases daily free security upgrades to cover any new virus/malware/miner/botnet effecting os x).
Apple is anti-customer because most of its PCs are a pain in the ass to open, and they're way overpriced.
Microsoft is anti-customer because according to them, the moment you get on their system is the moment you start bending over.
Source: had to work with a mac, now I only use 7
>couldn't
Lolno
They designed it that way so you would pay for the next version.
It's called Planned Obsolescence.
Hahah yeah XD
apple is shit for gaming
>vidya
>7 is old
>here on Sup Forums - Pedophiles
It's irrelevant when the new Kaby Lake S and the mobo's that support them are Windows 10 exclusive, as I unfortunately found out. Windows wants everyone in their shitty closed enviroment.
I'm staying on 7 for a long as I can then I probably will become a full linux person . I don't want to surrender all control to Microsoft. Yes windows was always somewhat of a closed system but they were still pretty open in how you could decide to use windows by getting deep into the system management/admin sort of tools. Windows 10 takes most of that away from you and wants you to be in an even more locked garden having it do things not by what you want but by what they want
>buy apps here or dont use them at all
>don't like advertising or your data being used for advertising? too bad you are our product now
>don't want to have your system patched yet because of various reasons fuck you we will do it anyway
>trying to stop some of this ? fuck you we will make you think you are stopping telemetry and shit but really you aren't stopping everything and we can turn it back on whenever we want with a patch that you didn't want installed yet without you knowing so you have to keep fighting it.
What the fuck do you think, OP?
nobody's on the kaby lake bandwagon though, everyone knows Intel is only fucking with AMD right now
Unless of course you buy it directly off the app store.
Hopefully it will take off, and we'll see less shit with Direct X.
It is understandable that an OS company wants to have their own components like that, but it is a big part of the bully stick they use to force OS upgrades.
Which, wouldn't be bad if the newer OS were just mediocre, but Win8-10 are actively bad.
No matter what the pajeets who keep shilling Windows 7 say, it really is shit.
Move on to 10. Tell the patels to fuck off.
It truly is, everything you want to do is less easy (for no good reason) and unless you got an hackintosh, you're using an underpowered machine anyways.
That's why I'm just using 7.
I like my Mac. The OS works fine for me and I really only play old games that either have Mac versions or can be run with dosbox or wine.
There have been Windows 10 exclusives for about a year now. It means they want you to upgrade. This is how businesses work, welcome to life.
I will say this about apple, even though I don't use or buy any of their products, one time when someone used my e-mail to create an appleid without my consent (or they typoed and used mine by accident I don't know fucking gmail) they were really nice and helpful and rectified the situation.
I wish someone would have told my old processor that before it shit the bed and I got forced to upgrade, because I fucking hate windows 10
everyone hates the next version of windows, I still think Win XP was the master race. fuck I wish I could go back to it
Nah man, even that is still shit.
Sure I like the "app" management (install a game and you won't create 20 folders across your drives, just a literal single application that works as an executable; you can then "enter" the app -right click, "show content"- and you'll get all its data in the right folders, everything in a single place), and also I really like the installation process itself (there's basically no installation, it's just dragging an app out of a folder and copying its contents on your PC), but it's useless without proper AAA support.
They started porting EVERYTHING on OS X by 2011, but they suddenly stopped like 3 years later.
All you got is indies, old classics and some minor pc oriented game.
At least there's an overly active "unofficial port community", as well as a part of the Scene specialized on Mac stuff. You can do much more with them, but then again, it's a pain in the ass.
Much more easy to just deal with Windows
it means Windows Store exclusive, which also means UWP and locked framerate and vsync
Linux gaming won't be a thing unless the distros come preinstalled in modern PCs, because right now the large majority of desktop users simply ignore them in favor of Windows or Mac.
Linux has got much easier to use recently, but there's still a long way to go, driver issues, etc.
Nigger.
Porting from Linux to Mac (plus, the opposite) is a fucking joke. Everybody can do it, at the point that when a game gets released on Linux, Mac users already know they'll get an unofficial port by the end of the week.
The combination of UNIX environment and the usage of OpenGL makes it really fast; most of the work would be testing.
So, alright, let's assume Linux will never get to be the default OS out there; even "Windows losing the monopoly" (so, more games on Mac) would be a fucking dream to Linux "gamers".
To be fair , they've actually tried doing this before.

But yeah it's not really caught on with normies yet.
