Because despite what EA's marketing and pricing said, Battlefront was a side-project while DICE was working on BF1, it was never intended to be deep, it was just a little thing they were making and EA saw a opportunity for money.

I'm not really a fan of the cross era hero's either.

It was funny watching a couple videos of Rey being so fucking useless ingame that she gets BTFO in the demonstrations of her fast as shit.

Battlefront 2 2 looks like it might be better since the main team is focusing on it but I wouldn't get too excite.

All EA had to do was put vehicles on the map and EAfront 2 might not have been terrible. It's so simple just don't add a shitty points system to unlock things. It's literally less work.

They are significantly bigger so the backpack is just integrated inside the chest. Same for the Supers.
