Dude you've gotta be dense, this one is a hell of a parody, part of the joke here is how deliriously it takes itself while being so ridiculous. The bad guy's name is literally "Void Dark"

I fucking hate this stupid little loli piece of shit
Go get fucked by corpses and rot in hell you utter cunt

They still treat Void Dark like a legitimate threat. though. The game feels like it WANTS you to take it seriously. If they meant for 5 to be a parody, they didn't do a very good job of making it feel like a parody.

I got bored of this game.

AMA

Why do you hate fun?

What did you love the most about it?

Was it your first Disgaea?

Well if the final boss isn't a threat to anyone why go through the effort to defeat him?

Because the characters taking it seriously in face of it's stupidity is a big part of the joke, characters will proudly exclaim the stupidest lines and tropes and side characters are the ones who will hammer it home as a joke.

I meant in terms of tone. The game doesn't really take any self-aware jabs at Void Dark, they play him seriously for the whole game.

The team behind the original Disgaea was replaced by a new team after Disgaea 4. Their first game? DD2. That should tell you really all you need to know; the new guys don't really understand what made Disgaea 1 what it was thematically and so the series became what it was originally parodying.

The game never felt challenging for it to be fun, and the story didn't interest me.

I've played the first Disgaea when I was much younger. I like all the character classes and the creation system which is a staple of the series.

>tfw i will never go with Valvatorez to go destroy a news company because there was a typo in the paper

They started with a half harted attempt of being more serious with 2

I'd rather eat some curry with Killia or call some succubi over to pin Laharl down and give him a lap dance

I can't find this game anywhere, is it eshop only?

More serious sounds good, not a big fan of dude sardines lmao or dude I want to beat my dad lmao to be quite honest.

Nope. Physical too.

I'll try to avoid making a new thread and ask here.
I'm playing through the first game right now, and I'm wondering how should I itemize the characters?
Should I go for more tanky builds, seeing how the game allows you to wear three armor items, as opposed to just a single weapon? Or should I just equip belts all over and make everyone a glass cannon?
Also, should I bother with defense on characters with low def aptitude, like monks? Would it be better for them to have three muscle items which they'd benefit 100% from, or try and make up for their low def with even more armor?

Same reason One Punch Man started taking itself seriously

Shit. I really wanted to try this one too.
I don't think I know the series enough to say this or know how to put it into words, but D2 felt so disconnected from the 1-4 I played beforehand. The characters and humor felt kinda halfassed.

For this particular series there are rally no wrong answers.

always glass cannon. the game favors who strike first and the hardest. def and res are pointless stats in the game.

But what if the enemy strikes first?

Oh, and another thing. Do special attacks suffer from reduced damage if you attack enemies from the front? Or does positioning not matter for them, like it does for regular attacks?

I love Metallica
