Because Nintendo has since the early 80's, been all about promoting fun and video games. That's just what they do.. they make video games and they never lose sight of that Other companies are looking for cinematic experiences or ultra photorealistic graphics , and they want to push political agenda or make statements and social commentary. Nintendo just makes video games with a "Is it fun to play?" priority, and about all they do that can backfire on them sometimes is "what's a gimmick that we can do that's new and might make games even more fun to play?"

first we got the handheld, that was a pretty good gimmick, then we got the analog stick for 3D games, that was janky considering it's the first control stick for a home console to utilize an analog stick, also the first controller rumble.. Then we got VR, which was not really well received.. then we got motion controls and touch screens.
