>"Recently, my social media feeds have celebrated the new Wonder Woman movie and how it empowers young girls. I just want to take a moment to recognize Blizzard in that my daughter has had no desire to see Wonder Woman because she gets her female super hero fix from HotS. Her current favorite is D.Va, but she also plays Nova, Tracer, Morales, Zagara, Valeera, Kerrigan, and Lunara. In fact, the only male character she will play is Abathur (he's a dude, right?)."
>"By my quick count, 22 of the 67 current heroes are female, and none of them are gratuitously sexualized. They are all strong and respectable. I know Blizzard caught flack for the Tracer victory pose in OW a while back, so I would like to recognize them for their positive work in this arena."
>"The movie industry is dying and video games will carry the torch as the most popular medium for engaging the imaginations of children. Your work is significant and culturally formative. Thank you!"
Do you think Blizzard is doing culturally formative work, Sup Forums?
btw. Heroes of the Storm - Thread. malthael is the booooowwwws.
>Her current favorite is D.Va, but she also plays Nova, Tracer, Morales, Zagara, Valeera, Kerrigan, and Lunara >Doesn't play Johanna, Lili, Valla or Cassia Shit taste, only the belt can fix this.
Adam Garcia
What the fuck is she talking about?
There's more lewd shit in HOTS than there is in Overwatch
Brody Brown
Source >and none of them are gratuitously sexualize The succubus skin doesn't count?
>Do you think Blizzard is doing culturally formative work
For my dick.
David Adams
>malthael is the booooowwwws. Is that good or bad?
Samuel Fisher
I think the implication here is that HOTS isn't gratuitous. Might surprise you to learn that not all lewdness is gratuitous unless your name is Achmed.
Ryan Garcia
I can understand. Blizz heroines are basically like how Samus used to work. Being badass comes before being pretty. They just happened to be good looking.
David Nelson
But when does lewd become gratuitous?
Carson Wilson
>how Samus used to work. Don't you start you fucking faggot. Samus still works that way.
Austin Howard
he is pretty good against bosses and enemies with lots of hp. Fast I have ever seen a boss/infernal killed.
Daniel Kelly
Right, who does he struggle against? I can easily see him struggle against Muradin seeing how he has a stun and can make his already slow attack speed even slower
Connor Stewart
His engage is a slow moving projectile so anyone who has range and decent movement options
Charles Jackson
>Struggling against the highest hp tank in the game as Malthael
lol. He gets fucked by more traditional assassins like zeratul and genji
William Butler
They said the same, to a greater degree about ghostbusters.
Ethan Rodriguez
>none of them are gratuitously sexualized
except Li-Ming
David Sanders
>fictional idols
Thomas Rogers
>none of them are gratuitously sexualized What a load of shit. It reminds me of how sjws make excuses for all the sexual content in games made by gear box and the saints row guys because their friends with the devs.
Ian Cox
And Kerrigan
Jose Foster
well i happen to think that most of the blizzard girls are hot as shit so it sounds like we both win and there's nothing to be upset about?
Gavin Scott
>Implying that everyone doesn't have them
Leo Adams
>Do you think Blizzard is doing culturally formative work, Sup Forums? You could say Blizzard is being culturally informative. As in informing our culture about all the dumb feminists saying dumb shit, so we can laugh at how dumb they are..
Ayden Reed
And Valeera
Especially Valeera
Lincoln Garcia
It's not possible for elves to be gratuitously sexualized. They are after all sluts
David Rodriguez
Let's hope MSR and MP4 are a return to form. Other M and the Zero Suit sort of ruined her. There was too much focus on Samus the woman, and less on Samus the badass bounty hunter.
Dominic Barnes
SHUT YOUR MOUTH, FUCCBOI! VALEERA IS PURE!
Aaron Peterson
>Other M and the Zero Suit sort of ruined her.
>Zero suit ruined anything
Only if you're an oversensitive pussy.
Jacob Harris
A PURE SLUT
Nathan Ortiz
Does Valeera have the THICCest legs of any elf?
Caleb Fisher
Have you seen Tyrande?
Jacob Myers
>this videogame looks fun >play it
As a little boy I did not fuckin care if I was playing some boy, girl, robot or alien. Neither did my little sister.
Grayson Hughes
WHERE THE FUCK IS OUR GHOST: NOVA GAME?
Just look at that semen demon, goddamn.
Nicholas Walker
You're conflating two totally separate issues. You can have all the lewdness, sex, ridiculous outfits, etc in your game you like. We're all good with that. Just do it in a way where you treat both male and female characters as humans (or treat them equally inhumanly, if you prefer).
I remember Saints Row 3 actually being a really good example of how to do this right. There's plenty of lewdness, everything in the game is gratuitous, but you can play as whoever you want and all the random wacky side characters are equally interesting (or uninteresting) without much regard to gender.
If you have trouble seeing it, a test is to just imagine how the game plays out if you gender swap every single character. Does it still make sense? Which characters come out looking ridiculous? It's honestly ok if one or two characters DON'T work for this (some things really are gender specific), but it should probably be somewhere south of 10% of your total cast.
Jordan Adams
Who has the best hair
Nova or Valeera
Elijah Miller
Zero Suit section of Zero Mission was super appropriate because it established her backstory with the chozo.
Other M was literally just gratuitous fanservice/Samus is a lady girl who can't stand up to the big bad dragon she's killed somewhere between 2-5 times before.
Dominic Baker
Dunno about any of that but pic related is a qt
Sex mod when?
Anthony Scott
As a woman, growing up playing video games, I didn't even realize the effect of lack of options for female characters until recently when we started getting more playable women (not saying we have enough, but it's looking better). I didn't realize how much easier it is to relate to the character, how different the whole gaming experience can be.
The same applies to films as well, as you mentioned Wonder Woman. I've read so many posts fromm women who broke into tears during the action sequences in the movie (I might or might not be one of those women). That's how depraved we've been of non-sexualized female heroes. Watching the movie was like putting glasses on for the first time - is this how good this is supposed to feel like To feel represented?
And I'm a grown woman. If I feel this way, then I can't even begin to imagine how little girls looking for a role model feel.
This went on to be a bit of rant, but as an avid wow and hots player, I just want to thank Blizzard for the 'strong' (I don't really want to use that term, but for a lacks of a better word) and complex women present in game and in lore. But please, don't stop there. There's still work to be done.
Hunter Bailey
>Do you think Blizzard is doing culturally formative work, Sup Forums? No, and this SJW cancer is clearly meant to tear apart the country similar to how Germany sent Vladimir Lenin back to Russia in order for him to start a revolution.
Zachary Martinez
your waifus aren't real, buddy.
Dominic Ross
>none of them are gratuitously sexualized >They are all strong and respectable
So if a woman shows a lot of skin, or has very large breasts, or is just very open about her sexuality she is not respectable?
Is this women's liberation 2.0: Into the burqa you go?
Thomas Baker
Fictionalized ideals outshine real people at every turn.
People who go around talking about how they idolize their dads and shit are fucking dumb. They should look to Superman as a real inspiration.
Christopher Bell
remember this faggot and his butthurt?
Jacob Kelly
If there exists a merciful god, kerrigan's ass is proof of him
