Now that the dust has settled, what went wrong?
Nothing, it's a great handheld, only held back with the 3D gimmick instead of a proper screen.
the 3ds pokemon games sucked ass
Outdated on release, didn't have a tenth of the library the ds did.
drop the 3D
double the resolution
Good system.
My only complaint is that I can't buy those snazzy cover plates like you can for the New 3DS
Even though this came out at the same time, they just decided to not make anything customizable for this system
3D was a gimmick
only 66 million were wold.
So nothing
I didn't use the 3d but the game library was good
To be fixed with the perfect and comfy n2DS XL. A nice way to end the product line and phase it out over the next couple of years.
Abysmal screen resolution.
Separate eshop from WiiU.
such a huge drop from DS sales. what went wrong?
>cut out 3d
>1080p screens
Thats the only upgrade needed. Best handheld and not handheld gaming system i've owned. Put a thousand plus hours on it for sure with my buddies on MH alone.
nothing, it sold well, and still receive games.
2 screens (retarded)
aimed at children who have no income except for parents
there 2 or 3 other models that do the same fucking thing
You're reading the numbers wrong. Nintendo is a bit dodgy with the way they report Nintendo DS sales, as they lump all "DS" models in together.
Still sold a lot though.
android?
I got the n2dsXL today
first thing i noticed as a downgrade is the sound is low like the switch
screen size isn't noticeable
its very light
SDcard is now convenient to access but the tap is hard to open
Pen is hard to take out
It's fast, light and more compact but switching out carts seems annoying
something is seriously wrong with you
It's faster at loading but nowhere near the switch speed.*
Not entirely, the N2DS screen has better quality but the resolution is the same, but I agree it's probably the best version of the console.
>games
all it gets is shovel ware trash
it has what, 2-3 actual games being released between now and 2018
the least nintendo could do is put the entire gameboy lineup on the eshop and not charge $10 for roms.
garbage library compared to DS, PSP, and especially Vita
even GBA was better
I disagree, just having everything in 3D was a ton of fun.
that still more games than the vita and the
xbox
>tenth of the library the ds did
that's a good thing, user. if you compare the number of 3ds titles, versus the number of 3ds, the 3ds has far less shovelware. it has shovelware, but not hundreds of iphone-tier games like the ds.
i'm willing to argue the wii-u has far more quality titles than the wii.
why? even if they did, your ass wouldn't buy them. the fact that anyone running homebrew can run all of those titles + more, makes it a quality system.
The ds still has more quality titles and a good number of passably good ones on top of it.
The Wii u definitely beats the Wii for quality, but the 3ds just doesn't have nearly as much to offer as the ds did.
Not a single vc game on 3ds is 10 dollars unless you're a leaf
Also, 3ds is getting Metroid, Ever Oasis, Miitopia, Layton Mystery Journey, and Mh stories
It's one of the top selling consoles on the market today?
3D gimmick looks nice and works well on N3DS, though. Games virtually always look better with it enabled.
I don't doubt that, but originally was crap and objectively a waste of resources because it was unplayable. Nintendo had (or has, not sure yet), this obsession with bringing great ideas with poor implementation, and then fixing them in revisions when the console is already in its late stage of life. E. g., the original wiimotes without gyroscope / accelerometer, finally fixed by the wiimotion+ when it was already too late.
It's because Nintendo became too gimmick-dependant and they never thought they could compete again without them so they rushed everything.
>Nintendo 3DS
>Nintendo HDS
If the HDS was released alongside the 3DS, which one would be currently leading the sales charts right now?
