Considering the install base of ·DS, years that have passed since last 2D Metroid and it actually looks good...

1.2M - 1.5M

More than 1 million but less than 3 million is my expectation. 3DS software sales will be losing steam by September when it launches as more players jump to Switch.

Is that just the new amiibo edited on or have they shown the cover already?

Zero, no one wants nintenbro anymore

it will sell shit because everyone pirates 3ds games besides children who don't like metroid.

I hope it flops

Sorry ninty and metroid but mercury steam needs to dis

At least one I can tell you that. But probably not alot since people are buying garbage and pirating good stuff, but oh well what can you do

/thread

>already seen tons of gameplay of it and it looks great (unless you're autistic that is)
>plenty of people played it and said it was fantastic

Sorry user but the game is gonna be great and there's nothing you can do about it

I don't know if it's gonna be good or bad. I think it's too early to say. You could look at the gameplay and come to either conclusion.

I'm gonna wait until I get my hands on it.

>and it looks great
The boss fights boil down to using a counter attack to get to a cutscene and defeat an enemy. Much of the strategy in the fights have been removed, and there's little reason to dodge attacks.

The counter attack is incredibly powerful to in that enemies easily telegraph when they're coming at you.

My biggest fear is that the game is just going to be feel boring, especially with the abilities that automatically let you find secrets, and the one that turns you invincible, with an EVEN MORE OVERPOWERED counterattack, and it doesn't even drain meter unless you're hit.

You DO know that you don't have to use any of this, right ?

750,000 minimum, 2million max.

I'm gonna buy 5.
Ain't even kidding.
Bought Super Metroid for VC yesterday.
If I could I would re-buy metroid II for VC too.

Hopefully more than Prime 4.

You most certainly do. There wasn't any damage feedback when Samus just shot at the Alpha Metroid's underbelly normally, but after countering and exposing it's weakspot it began showing hitstun. Counter seems vital to the playthrough.

That said, the Gamma Metroid took off a full bar of health with every hit, so I'm not too worried about the difficulty.

Well you're wrong, watch it again.

I know you can't judge it just yet but right now everything is going in the right direction. Even with "shit" devs. Sakamoto said in multiple interviews that it wouldnt take the direction of fusion and other m with a story that is more in the background. There is nothing to worry about just yet. The gameplay -apparently- feels fantastic and that game looks (visually) great on an actual console (especially with 3D on). Level design and gameplay are the most important parts of a metroid game and both seem to be really good in samus returns. I was worried too at first but realistically, there's nothing to worry about.

>3DS piracy
>relevant in any way whatsoever
Why are pirates so delusional?

They're balancing the game with that ability in mind, and clearly putting a lot of focus on it, with the little damage cutscenes and all.

I would have preferred they focus on unique new attacks for the enemies, and develop strategies using your arsenal, or have a new focus for dodging and evasion that was natural, not something that outright takes control away from the player.

If you look at the Majora's Mask remake, they didn't add a gimmick to the boss fights, they completely redid them with a new focus on the pre-exisitng core mechanics.

That's the way to do a re-make.

You're right, my bad. Beams bounce off but missiles still do damage.

im gonna buy every single squishy metroid amiibo i see

i dont even have the dumbass amiibo platform thing

I believe it probably just comes in the two pack.

I find it difficult to lower my guard after Other M. I'm going to remain skeptical and stay out of speculation territory until I have the game in my hands.
Majora's Mask didn't get remade, it got ported.
Zero Mission is a remake, and it's an excellent one.

>There wasn't any damage feedback when Samus just shot at the Alpha Metroid's underbelly normally
Wrong.

Go play with your tubes, piratefag.

The beams hit it, even when she was standing in front of the Metroid.

>it got ported
Sure, but they completely remade the boss fights, and they were better for it.

>Zero Mission is a remake, and it's an excellent one.
I think it's still too early to say this, seeing as it's not out. We'll see in a few months how good it is.

So basically what you're saying is that you wanted a dodge instead of a parry. Yes, i'll give you that the parry seems way too easy to do and I hope they reduce the window to do it. but keep in mind that dodging is way easier than parrying in most games so if you think parries are easy...

Zero Mission is already out my man it's the remake of the first one

I just hope that it's as good a remake as Zero Mission was to the original game

>So basically what you're saying is that you wanted a dodge instead of a parry
No I wasn't saying that. I wrote a lot about what I wanted and provided a comparable example. I'm not rewriting it.

>those people who get mad because of shit studio and "qte in mah metroid gaem" will buy this game regardless and will probably enjoy it

Ah, may bad I thought we were talking about this game. Wasn't thinking, sorry.

Metro never sells particularly well. Probably 500 to 700k copies.

THERE HASN'T BEEN A SIDE SCROLLING METROID GAME IN 13 FUCKING YEARS

YOU FAGGOTS BETTER BUY THIS SHIT

>I would have preferred they focus on unique new attacks for the enemies, and develop strategies using your arsenal, or have a new focus for dodging and evasion that was natural

I only took the last part of that because the other stuff, you're clearly already doing in it almost all Metroid games. Think about using your space jump + charge beam to go through the attacks of phantoon in SM or using your morphball to go under torizon

>Sorry user but the game is gonna be great and there's nothing you can do about it
Hahaha stay in denial

My point is that Metroid II is an earlier game, and didn't have a lot of that stuff like in the later games, so if you're going to remake it, focus on that stuff, instead of simplifying it even further,

>buying 3DS games

whens it out, 2018?

September 15th 2017

This September user
GET A JOB HIPPIE

>making your opinion based on previous games that YOU considered to be bad instead of based on stuff that people actually said while playing it

stop being a pessimistic nigger

Almost exactly three months.

everyone with a 3ds who wished there was more games for it will buy it

>will pirate this game regardless
Fix3s

I have a job, user.
Does this mean I have to spend my money when I can have the same thing for free?

Probably around 1M. It's the top selling 3DS game on US amazon right now so it's probably not gonna flop

ok might get it then, my interest in games is seriously waning, but Nintendo games are usually fun.

you could say the same thing about castlevania and Mirror of fate and it was garbage

oh hey what a coincidence, the same devs are behind this game too

How long does it take for a new release to get on the freeshop usually ?

A big game like this, the same day, probably before release.

I don't expect the game to do this well, do casuals and kids care about Metroid anymore? It's been many years since Nintendo released a new 2D game and this is being made by a dev team with a bad reputation (although I don't think anyone gives a crap about this).

I think Metroid is in the same spot as Dragon Quest right now, only those fans who still care enough for the franchise will buy the game while the rest will ignore it or pirate the game. I hope I'm wrong, I don't know how popular Samus is nowadays.

It will sell very well in the west, but meh in the east. I'd say 2.5 million would be an optimistic total.

>>making your opinion based on previous games that YOU considered to be bad
Why yes I trust myself

>instead of based on stuff that people actually said while playing it
Only a retard would trust someone else opinion regarding something like this

why not wait until it comes out you fucking shill
Cant wait until it comes out so I can say told you so

I'm pretty sure that kids who only got a 3DS will be interested by this game. The game will most likely be E-rated and have a """robot""" on the cover. Moms will buy it and their kids will have the time of their lives.

don't forget that Samus is a female vidya icon and feminism these days is rampant. The game will be okay and the loyal fanbase + positive reviews from the media will drive a lot of sales

Metroid should've stayed dead like F-Zero 2bh

>why yes i trust myself

The last person you should trust to decide whether a game is good or not is a pessimistic dumbass who only hates on stuff just because they feel like it. But hey, you do you man

DQ isn't nearly as big as Metroid in the west, even now. The SR trailer has 1.5 million views, second only to Mario Odyssey and way ahead of FE, Yoshi, Kirby and Xeno.

Well you seem flustered :^)

Its just a game chill out

I will probably pirate just to see how bad it is

Cringe lmfao

kys

You faggots said the same thing about FF.

Evidently FF sold enough.

vgchartz.com/game/85756/metroid-prime-federation-force/
vgcharts I know but the game sold horribly.

>animeposter
>shit opinion

Checks out

Maybe Nintendo realized that it sold poorly because they knew it was shit and the fans wouldn't gobble it down just because it used the Metroid title and didn't drop the hammer on the series.

FF was always some shitty spinoff title. It wouldnt matter if it sold well or bombed. They have developing MSR for the past two years.

They couldn't come up with a clever skin for FF by the time they decided enough was enough. So the Metroid thing was just slapped on. What little they could recoup on their shitty dev time was all they would get.
