everything looks perfect
And since treehouse are incompetent fucks at showing gameplay the battle system gives a lot more importance to auto-attacks this time.
In XC AT only served to fill the talent gauge and in XCX it gave you faster cooldown to Artes with the same weapon category along as giving you tp for Overdrive. In XC2 it helps you unlock Artes and from here those Artes will unlock combos with your party members and drivers
I'm hype for the game but come on dude.
yes, character models too
Every character has access to 4 artes but you can unlock up to 12 with the help of Blades. Every character can wield up to 3 blades with 4 artes and one of those is special attack
The team helped with botw.
Blades start charging the moment you start your first attack and do so automatically, when you change to another blade all the artes will be charged right away, so timing the artes and the weapon switching is a must. Think of it like Overdrive
I found Rex on the web.
>The combat
>looking great
Eh, it's okay for the level 1 shit they showed. About the same as Xenoblade. HOWEVER, "auto-attacks will not start if your character is moving." That fucking sucks. You gotta position yourself and STOP in order for any attack to come out. The enemy still flails around wildly and quickly, but YOU aren't allowed to move in order to auto-attack. And auto-attacks are more important than before, so it's just stupidly more tiresome and trouble than it should be.
>and the ost
But yeah, OST, is fucking nice so far. A game's quality can skyrocket with a good soundtrack and this has a great soundtrack so far.
Special edition when?
>"auto-attacks will not start if your character is moving."
I'm still baffled by this.
What's the point?
>Character design
not a fan
>Ost
god-tier
>combat
They keep showing auto-attacks lmao, but from what else they showed, looked pretty good. We'll see.
The combat looks so sluggish. I hate that every art starts on cooldown and auto attacks stop if you move.
Probably did it so your character wouldn't have weird sliding animation while attacking or have wonky disconnect between upper torso for attacks and legs for movement. Either way it is shit and will make combat feel disjointed.
>"auto-attacks will not start if your character is moving."
so that you git gud about positioning. also cause the attacks works in 3 series combo and the animation are not made for moving attacks.
>They keep showing auto-attacks lmao
your 1st Xenoblade game?
I think you do still AA but won't do the combo that gives you a buff after the finisher
You don't, you can even cancel AA by moving during the animation
>so that you git gud about positioning.
But you can't since enemies just wildly run around the screen
Auto-attacks unlock arts and some of these charge faster like Rex's anchor shot. When the auto-attack finishes the 3 hit combo and you use an arte right at the end it will get a boost in damage and charge faster next time.
I just wish there were further in so they could show off more of the gameplay besides auto-attacks
Are you looking forward for the areas of the game? they look stunning and not as washed out as the first 2 games
If we're talking about animation, has anyone else noticed there is NO TRANSITION between out-of-combat and in-combat? When I was watching the Treehouse gameplay, they'd literally vanish and then reappear with weapons in-hand. And when combat ended, they'd vanish and reappear, sheathed or riding on the back of the lion.
No. That had better be some sort of Beta build and they haven't finished the animations yet. Very disappointed.
What does that have to do with my question?
Not moving = reward is simply dumb
you know there are AA
3 blade at the time
3 Arts per Blade + 1 Big art per blade
You can lvl up that Art up to 3 during a fight and then combo it with your other Party member Big Art
on the Blades pallete there was a button they didng use that implies you can combine all 3 blades
The anime characters with realistic environment art style is starting to grow on me desu. Is this the third game that does that now? Ni No Kuni and DQ11 are going for the same thing.
The system is barely stronger than Wii U but it has to render 6 party members.
What a fucking mistake.
I want the ice zone to be the back of a humanoid Titan
Last world is not a Titan but the "floor" they walk on
I wanted to be hype for this, but all I have seen makes it look alarmingly generic
And I bought a WiiU just to play XcX
on a handheld too. Holy fuck this game is going to ravage my life
>NO TRANSITION between out-of-combat and in-combat?
Nigger wut, You can see Rex taking the Blade of his back, the blade expands and he gets into position and then the blade goes back and he put it back after the combat ends. its literally in the 1st 2-3 minutes of the gameplay
Given that they're treating the sky the Titans are walking in as the ocean, with the diving stuff and all, whatever's at the bottom could be pretty freaky desu.
Than watch again because the mc visibly takes out his sword and sheats it back to his back again.
I'm still holding on that it's shulk's post world with the ruins of bionis/mechonis
I'm certain that wasn't the case for lion-girl or any of Rex's other weapons. If Rex's red sword did it, it's the ONLY one that did. All the other characters/weapons did a vanshing act each time a battle began or ended.
yeah the music is pretty promising
but the combat has its issues
It looks really weird when literally half of your "party" is standing around doing nothing most of the time. Yes I know that they are the "weapons" but I still think there could have been a more elegant solution.
youtube.com
Rex does it for his Sword and Axe.
Tora doesn't
Nia doesn't, even when controlling her.
Skip to 26:50. In and out of combat.
>A game where you literally carry around humanoid slaves chained to their master
logic implies that they have finished the animations for Rex, but not the party members.
Anyway out off all the things to be nitpicky about this is the hill you want to die on. Wow.
"In previously Xenoblades, the enemy would have an icon that lets you know how they can detect you. Sound, sight, maybe even if they're violent and have aggro. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, that isn't in anymore. You have to enter combat and fight to find out."
They say they're trying to encourage entering combat more instead of maybe sneaking around, but that's batshit stupid. Some of the sneaking was THE BEST PARTS about enemies on the map. "There's checkpoints, so it really doesn't matter." Dudes.
Nia is the only one more noticeable since she rides the tiger but even then you can see her sheat and unsheat her weapons
It looks weird and it wastes processing power rendering models who don't even do anything.
What were they thinking?
the animations are there even when you change weapon mid combat, there is an small animation where Rex takes an stand, the blade shines and disappears and a new blade is summoned. and that new blade had a sheating back animation.
The only moment there is not an animation but a Fade-off is a few seconds after a fight if you finished on a secondary blade, fades off and gets replaced by the main one, in this case Pyra
>They say they're trying to encourage entering combat more
Unless you're too dumb to see that the enemy is actually threathning or something.
>thread with actual discussion
Nice.
I liked what I saw. I don't really have a preference between Xenoblade and Xenoblade X style, so I'm fine with whatever we get. The only thing I'd rather not have is excessive story focus to the detriment of gameplay such as Xenogears disc 2 and most of Xenosaga.
They're saying enemies still have different detection methods, but you'll have to discover what they are instead of just omnisciently knowing every enemies detection type.
Dragon age chronicles inquisition
the combat will be boring dull heap of shit
hold x to autoattack and sometimes mash r1 and y for special attack while "positioning" (as if it is relevant anyway in that mkind of games).
Why replacing a perfectly fine active dimension combat system with nu action mmo shit akin to guild wars 2 or neverwinter is beyond me.
It looks like a fucking mmo, tell me how this is anything different.

Soundtrack actually feels like it's from a Xeno game. What the hell went wrong with XCX
why do so many JP developers struggle with UI/UX design? the menus, font size, functionality etc fucking SUCKED in XCX and it looks like its going to suck in 2 as well
>What the hell went wrong with XCX
your taste
shitposting aside, Sawano is swim or sink with most people, rarely there is a middle point
Sawano wasn't as good as it could've been, but it gave the game a very distinct identity. At this point I wouldn't want to trade it away, even with some of the stinkers.
So how many playable characters are there?
Is there anything unique about the different drivers?
Because at first glance it sounds like they'd be exactly the same since you can equip the same Blades to the same drivers thus having the same skillsets.
maybe some drivers have special Blades they can only use??
I mean I guess it's alright if they're all the same but if there are more drivers than there are party slots it feels kinda like a waste and even a tease.
I hope this game bombs hard in the west. I wish nothing but ill will on this game.
I have not seen anything showing you can equip the same blades to whoever you want?
The gameplay video showed Rex using a Crystal to bind a new blade to him and only him.
I'm starting to realize that the original Xenoblade Chronicles was just an exception, I've really been hating the series ever since.
XCX stripped the game of everything that made the original good, the characters were shallow, they all played the same rather than being all different with unique abilities, the story was shit and the custom made protagonist + fallout 4 dialogue made me drop the game after 20 hours. Also fuck the mechs.
With XC2 I was hoping that they'd go back to the original style and quality but for now it looks like shit both in terms of graphics and gameplay, it's really a shame since I loved the first one so much.
Sorry, but except for the bright colours, I see literally nothing particularly original or stylish or awe-inspiring here. Then again, the previous games looked bland too at first sight, so I hope there's still keeping the good parts to be discovered in the actual game...
This. Looks like it could be a worthy sequel of Xenoblade Chronicles.
>With XC2 I was hoping that they'd go back to the original style and quality but for now it looks like shit both in terms of graphics and gameplay, it's really a shame since I loved the first one so much.
You're just delusional
We need to see more combat features and character customization to see how it all compares to the original
Why? For hoping to get a great game?
First game's colors weren't washed out. X's were though.
they simply said you have to know the nemies FIRST to know how they behave and you don't have a fucking icon that says it's aggressive, you will notice when interacting with them and you will learn by what means they detect you too
Let me tell you something user. It all started with
Xenogears, aka the original storyline of FF7.
People who hated FF7, loved Xenogears
People who loved Xenogears, hated Xenosaga
People who loved either Xenogears or Xenosaga hated Xenoblade Wii
People who loved either Xenoblade Wii, Xenogears, or Xenoblade Wii hated Xenoblade X
and now,
People who loved either Xenoblade Wii, Xenogears, or Xenoblade Wii or Xenoblade X will hate Xenoblade 2
You know nothing about the quality of the game aside from a short trailer. For all we know the story could be amazing and the combat system the deepest in the series. At least wait for more info before judging the quality of the game.
Pretty much this. Some autist keep claiming it's not but unless you have a HDR TV with vivid enable, it is washed out. Probably because the wii u doesn't use Full RGB spectrum.
Are you retarded? That's not what they're saying at all.
t.someone who likes all the games for different reasons because I'm not an autistic fag who gets mad at everything that doesn't cater to me
I saw like an hour of gameplay during treehouse, that's enough for me to get an idea of how the majority of the game (battles) will be like
XC2 looks better than XC dude. You're just saying that because you don't like the arstyle of the characters
XB2 is literally the same soul as XB1. is right
The artstyle is all I hate.
And the voice acting wasn't stellar either.
But I like xenoblade 1, XCX, and I think I like xenoblade 2 (protagonist like kind of shit though) as well. What does that make me?
>implying the other two games' battles stayed as slow as they did at the start
Wew lad
Thank Christ the Switch does tho, oddly enough you have to set it manually, it's on Limited by default
I hate the artstyle + voice acting, but I could look over that if they kept the battle system like it is and give us good characters and story. But at least from what I understand the battles will be changed
Except xenoblade started just as slow with 2 fucking arts and then became more and more fun over time. The treeshouse guy wasn't that good at showing off the entire system. We don't even fucking know what the party gauge does!
>But at least from what I understand the battles will be changed
Please elaborate.
I thought the tracks in XCX where really good and fun to sing a long too when getting from one place to the next but just didn't fit the game as a whole
Genunely curious how many of you shitters even played Xenoblade X. None of you bought Wii Us, that's for sure.
The combat in Xenoblade gets old as fuck, quick.
And in Xenoblade you start with Dunban fighting with only 2 arts. I'm impressed you and other people saying that the battle is slow didn't drop the game at that point
It defaults to automatic.
The auto attacks, they changed how they work unless I'm retarded
Uh, I love X specifically because I love Xenogears and ever since playing Gears as a kid I've wanted a game like X.
I'm talking about the Auto attack changes mostly but maybe I'm just salty from the awful XCX experience and the artstyle for XC2 that doesn't convince me at all
I bought Xenoblade for Wii back in 2011, and thank goodness I didn't waste money on a Wii U, when X is perfectly playable on Cemu
Auto attacks are actually important now instead of being there in between arts spamming
I like you user. Have a mech
If you take a minute to watch the gameplay footage, they seem to deal a lot more damage relative to XC and XCX
I don't care about chara design i just think the mc looks annoying and cringy.
Yes, I don't know what the story will be but from what we have seen he looks like a typical shonen anime mc.
So I give Sup Forums, a year to finally realize that Xenoblade X was actually a cult classic.
I thought Shulk was a cringy dork at first too user
I didn't, he's kind and seek revenge, which is understandable.
He's a bit bland but that's all, he's nowhere near as bad as rex.
Nigga you know nothing about Rex's character
>XC1
>Every character has a backstory and a unique style of fighting, finding the best combination of characters to put in the active team is a challenge
>game world is so huge and interesting you want to see it all, but if you don't want to you can rush to the main story
>XCX
>Characters are all "AnimeFuck#134" they all play the exact same
>mechas
>game forces you to explore a certain amount before proceding in the story
Not even close baby
Did you saw the last trailer ?
Thanks, Mastema and Wels were the coolest in X.
