Whatever it is, it's sci-fi since they got the sci-fi music guy. Which leads me to believe it's not any old IP. Nintendo is really hot on new IP so it wouldn't surprise me.

Given how Nintendo is handling new games now, it's almost guaranteed that if they wanted to make a new F-Zero, they will let the guys who made Fast Racing Neo make it with their guidance similar to letting Mercury Silver do 2D Metroid
