Morrowind thread
Get in here N'wahs!
Post characters and/or fight each other about the lore.

My installation got fucked for some reason. Im reinstalling the game and my mods which thank the Tribunal were all saved in an external drive. I have my doubts though as to if they are going to work first try. Have a peek what will be under my hood when its done imgur.com/a/4Oxmx.

Clearing Dwemer ruins ?

...

Why can't other companies make new IPs as good as splatoon?

is it just me or does morrowind not need any mods
the only ES game i mod is skyrim

tfw no goddessfu to make you into a celebrity warlord

That looks too bright user. Turn down the brightness
it hurts
How can i escape from this reality?

I run boots of blinding speed on every character
dont judge me

You know.. you could enchant a piece of armor with dispel...

or i could raise the brightness, it takes less time and my eyes aren't made of babyshit like yours obviously are, lmao

everytime i go to play this horrid piece of shit, i make my character talk to the smug little fuck who lost his ring run to the next shitty city then uninstall it. Anyone who enjoys this game in 2017 most likely has brain damage from being such a tremendous and utter faggot

I started playing this a month ago, how do I force myself to finish these stupid ass fetch quests? Are there any interesting quests in this game?

Sweet b8, brah, this will trigger people.

Consider me exploded,no make it assblasted. I could never resist such an epic bait.

wrong person. Still applies though

read up ,faggot

bump

I never played morrowind and why should I play this instead replaying skyrim? Early 3d looks pretty bad and these walls of texts are cryptic

>they actually gave him a line on the off chance he survived due to a glitch or you somehow casting a custom spell on him before he hit the ground

Reminder that if you didn't join Telvanni then you need to fuck off back to r*ddit

Yeah it doesn't need content mods but some of the fix packs are good.

Anybody else love the fact that throwing stars are in the game? I was pretty upset to find out they weren't in Oblivion or Skyrim, also should they be under the same skill as using a bow? I don't know what else they would be, but I feel like it shouldn't be with using bows.

skyrim>morrowind

AUTISM
Was that the base of the crazy Telvanni woman?

Pretty much every quest in this game is a fetch quest, but this game's strength doesn't really lie in its quest as much as the game world. The reason this game lacks fast travel is because they want you to get lost in the world and the fetch quests are kinda there to incentivize exploring.

Some of the most interesting quests are the ones with the tribunal temple. They get you to trek across the place and do weird shit that gets you immersed into the world if that's the kinda shit you're into.

Anyone who calls Morrowind flawless is a nostalgia blinded idiot. However it is still the best realisation of the TES world, where all the later games have comprised so much.
The 3d art's not very good, even for the time. The UV maps are fucked and the textures poorly defined. The animation is fucking terrible, almost as bad as the sound design.
The writing is something you learn to get into, but that doesn't detract from the repetitive generic response to basic questions the vast majority of NPCs can only provide. But I've found the mod series 'Less Generic NPC' can help that significantly, giving individual backstories to NPCs to liven up the world.
Wildlife is way to aggressive, find a mod to calm the down. Get a mod to add ambient sounds to immerse yourself.

Anyone know of a mod that turns birthsign stat bonuses into actual bonuses so they don't become worthless after you level up a bit?

>trying to minmax
>in Morrowind
holy shit user just use alchemy

The game has fast travel. Only it involves finding a boat, silt strider or teleporter and paying for their services, or using magic items or spells. It had convenience working towards immersion rather than breaking it. You had to open up the map and plan your route.

>there are people who unironically want to live in this hellhole

Not even living into fucking Black Marsh sound that bad.

what
argonia literally kills people
the non-ashen parts probably aren't that bad

>I want my character's birthsign to be significant past the first three levels
>no birthsign gives intelligence bonus, which is the only stat that matters for minmaxing
>hurr minmaxing
Fuck off.

...

I bet you also modded the waifusuit from OWB to be light armor.

I rather die from fucking fungus and shit that stay in this land full of clowns who worship bigger clowns

>not studying Fargoths routine then killing him late at night inside his house and becoming him

That's understandable.
>wanting to become an obnoxious midget loser
>tfw am obnoxious midget loser

Does the morrowind graphics and sound overhall mod work with windows 10?

My install of it gave tons of errors and completely failed to work at the very last step.

How much are you betting?

What bothers me most about Morrowind is that eventually I'll just become powerful enough to kill/survive anything.
What mods can prevent this?
So far, my attempts just resulted in me setting my stats lower with the console

Raise the difficulty and play the expansions.

BtB Game Improvements.

I normally hate nanny mods, but I think I'll give this one a try.

But if it lowers the value of endgame gear and artifacts I'm dropping it without regrets.

It does, but isn't that what you wanted in the first place? To make the game harder?

I'm the other guy, and having read through the changelog I don't think this makes the game harder, it just changes literally everything in the game in an autismal attempt to create ordnung in what used to be a plausibly unordered world. Fortunately it's modular so I can just skip the bad parts.

My game keeps crashing everytime I start it up with the nexus mod manager. What should I do?
I got really hyped to play this game and now it wont work. Should I just play it without the mods?

>2002
>early 3D

It doesn't need them at all. But there are certainly some damn amazing ones. Morrowind's modding scene has stayed pretty big and has consistently gotten better and better for so long now. Which is amazing because you'd figure people would've exhausted almost everything they can with the strict engine limitations by now, but new stuff that was previously thought to be nearly impossible keeps being done.

>one or two large-font paragraphs
>cryptic

You need to read a book user.

MGSO is complete shit

Actually no, I think I'll be dropping this wholesale. Birthsigns aren't important enough to turn my game into Oblivion.

Yeah MGSO is outdated and poorly put together

Just grab MGE XE and the Visual Pack and you're good to go.

Why do Morrowind threads attract so much cancer? Why can't we have the same comfy threads Oblivion gets?

>get morrowind sound and graphics overhaul
>looks and sounds pretty good
>go into a tavern
>LINDA GET IN HERE NOOOOWWW

fucking happens no joke every 10 seconds, ruins my immersion. who the fuck is named Linda in the elder scrolls!?!?

For me it's the sound of beer being poured. It's like someone is drawing a file over my teeth.

What's a fun build for a 5000th playthrough?

Tavern sound mods are shit no matter the game it seems. The Skyrim ones make it sound like there's a horde of people mumbling incoherently even when the tavern has 2 people in.

Any silly Morrowind mods?

gimme a good lizard build

sonic speed punch wizard with no allegiances

People treat them as an invitation to shitpost about how they didn't get into/don't like the game. Oblivion threads are mostly posted in by Oblivion players. Morrowind threads are posted in by maybe 60% Morrowind players and 40% outside shitposters with less than 30 mins on the game. All it takes is one shitposter to post those memical webms and then neo-Sup Forums takes the bait, derailing the whole thread.

Well there is a Redguard someone named "Landa" in Morrowind. Close enough.
en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Vivec_Telvanni#People

No.

this but change the W to an L

nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44731/?

How silly?

I've just started playing and I love it but how do you find and initiate side quests? All npcs say similar things and the main quest and guilds seem to be the only ways I can find lower level quests in the starting areas. Do I need to admire spam random npcs?

Why bother with one for skyrim?
Npcs occasionally chatter enough to be natural but not overdone and the bard adds enough background music for it to be immersive

Morrowind is one of the best Metroidvanias I have ever played. It's a shame there aren't any more Fallout or TES games like it.

Emba 5

they're mostly on the roads between towns.
Get ready for a dozen 'Nord has clothes stolen by a 'witch'' quests

silly enough to give me a giggle

theres two of them.

Had just been thinking of starting up a new playthough, been a while since i got lost in morrowind.

Post fun builds that people like to mess with

Okay I just got this game, really looking forward to playing it, but I think I encountered a strange bug in the beginning. I can't find anything about it on UESP or anything. Anyone willing to help me fix it? I literally can't progress.

I just fixed it for you. Try it now, it should work.

It's still not working right, here's a video of the glitch, I literally can't get out of Seyda Neen.

pm'd you the fix
works on my machine :)

>I think I encountered a strange bug in the beginning
That's called a Silt Strider. As alarming as it looks it's actually quite harmless, and will even take you to other cities and towns! You don't need to be afraid of it, just progress as normal. It will not attack you or otherwise get in your way.

Shaman
>blunt weapon, only clubs
>mysticism
>alteration
>alchemy
>illusion
Minor
>athletics, just because
>light armor
>unarmored
>conjuration
>spear, mostly for in combination with conjuration when you need a bigger weapon
Play as a female and use Atranoch because you need the mana. You mostly want to avoid combat or use other means to get around, side with Telvanni. Play like you have actual Argonian morality, remain mostly neutral, don't value property very highly for other people or your own, take great advantage of nature through alchemy and explore underwater frequently aided by alteration, free the slaves, avoid authority and structure. You can do the main quest if you want.

ehhhh it's still broken

ah sorry wrong fix, here's the real one

If anyone is looking for mods here are some screenshots of the ones in OP. I just took them real quick so dont expect much. But you'll get a taste.

Im using them along with 32bit version of OpenMW because the 64 one had issues with the herbalism mod

pls be serious i spent 20 bucks on this game

Does Morrowind have much of a sex modding scene like Oblivion and Skyrim?

Is OpenMW playable?

its called stop being a faggot. pick weapons that your class uses, dont fight with 0 stamina, and get some fucking agility. its not a glitch. you're just a faggot.

Some enemies might be too tough for you depending on how you build your character, how much you know about how to play, and where you decide to go at first. Fortunately for you, even the slowest and most encumbered character will able to outrun a mudcrab, so worry not! Your game can continue as normal. Run back to Seyda Neen and the guards will kill it for you, or run past it on the way to your destination. For now, try to save up some money through non-combat means and then go buy some slaves in Tel Aruhn to protect you.

playable yeah
nowhere near finished and not many compatibilities yet though

You can join Talvanni and free the slaves?

Previous version went down to 12fps in Sadrith Mora. Ever since im using the nightly build and its fine. Didnt have any other problems.

It also has a very convenient save system so that i can have multiple characters and use quick save/load with all of them

yeah. they literally dont give a fuck if you dont get caught.

Shit telvanni are cool with you murdering their counsel members.

does it use OpenAL yet?
I love HRTFs

eeerm what?

Pretty sure yes, but some Telvanni quests involve slaves, not sure how you would approach them but it won't break the quest line freeing random slaves out in caves. Telvanni is basically chaotic neutral.

Are the Telvanni based on the OTO and thelema with the whole 'Do what thou wilt' thing? It seems like it.
A player character can fuck over another member and everyone's like "fuck it, if he can do that he's better than the other guy".

Anything else I should look into? Fairly large modlist but nothing too out of the vein of vanilla is what i've been going for. Wanted "Vampire Embrace" but it's not compatible with "LGNPC". Thinking about writing a guide that isn't all graphics shit like that one big guide is, because I don't use any graphics mods besides what MCP and MGEXE do. Keeping track of all the new version of mods and obscure compatibility bugfixes hidden away on obscure forums is such a pain in the ass sometimes.
