Ataribox Thread

Last time, right here in the weirdest timeline ever:

>Atari Wojaks in the making
>OC
>what if games looked like 2600 era boxart covers
>speculating who's Atari's unannounced partner
>2018 E3 Atari conference fever dreams

You're setting yourself up for disappointment. Atari doesn't have the funds to make a PS4 caliber console. The best you can hope for is a Shield-like console.

That much we know already. The silver lining here is that they have an unannounced partner, who god knows could be. Atari has brand recognition(enough that people will care to at least look into), and some decent IPs under their belt. If their partner has deep enough pockets, it might not be impossible.

People were speculating Amazon last thread. It's unlikely, but a company the size of Amazon certainly has the funds to enter the console business, given good enough IPs to work with.

It just doesn't make sense to me why Amazon would care for Atari's name. Amazon has a more powerful brand and is known for making innovative devices, whereas Atari is known for crashing the industry.

Nobody is saying Amazon is the partner, just that they would be a viable option. Suppose your big-name company wanted a piece of the console business, but you have no name recognition within games. The obvious first step would be to acquire/partner with an existing game company. One that's well known by everyone, and has several existing IPs.

I'm rooting for a miracle to happen and this thing ends up being good.

amazon just spent billions acquiring whole foods, they're not gonna enter the gaming sector

I don't know. I hope something great comes of it, I'm just skeptical. Not to mention the amateurish site and the fact that they only showed a render and not a real product makes me believe that this is something more small in scope and not hugely funded.

Will there be new games? New games exclusive to Atari? First party exclusives?

>another console being announced
welp, time to filter /ctt/ again

Nobody knows yet. The only thing Atari said is that they've come back to the console business, whatever that's supposed to mean, and that the console will be PC based, again whatever that means. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Things Atari owns, pasted from last thread.

>Tempest
>Joust
>Missle Command
>Asteroids
>Centipede
>Yar's Revenge
Things that belong to companies Atari owns.
>Hexplore
>Soulbringer
>Alone in the Dark
>Drakkhen
>Slave Zero
>Blood
>Roller coaster tycoon
>Shadow of the Comet
>Demon Stone

Everyone is. We're just entertaining the idea at this point.

Have they decided on a design for the OneX yet?

pretty sure OneX design was quickly unanimously decided with just XBONE-tan again except the helmet has a big X on it instead of an eye.

I need more news, I can't contain my hype.
Don't fuck this up Atari

We're talking about the company that dumped hundreds of thousands of unsold game carts into the desert and buried them to cover up shit sales. What could go wrong?

Why did the xbone tan have that eye anyways?

Also a reminder that the video views are increasing

Man, all this talk for an Atari console makes me want a Sega console. I keep hoping that Sega will take the risk, but I don't think it will ever happen at this point

Kinect
>implying it won't be a Ouya tier failure

They purchased Whole Foods to use their automated camera face recognition AI thing so you can shop in a store without cashiers.
You enter, pick something up, and leave, and the camera recognizes you, what you picked up, and taxes you for it on your amazon card.

So its an IT related expense for them, so to speak. They also got the Twitch deal. And Kindle is their main product.
Is it really that far off that they will want more IT stuff? They are clearly into it now.

Wow, yesterday it didn't break 200,000 and now it's almost at 500,000. Word's finally getting around. I wonder if this'll make Atari reveal some more information these weeks.

>>implying it won't be a Ouya tier failure
I'm just here for ride, good or bad

It will be a small Android box that plays ye olden so retro so classic pixel shit games.
I can't wait to play this on my 1080 inch TV.

Man, Atari box art is so fucking comfy to me for some reason. I hate to be le wrong generation, but the 80s were just so fucking aesthetically pleasing. Oh well, I probably would have had a heart attack from the cheap blow.

>Drakkhen
Dragon View 2
PLEASE

>bubsy is back
>atari is back
Anything is possible at this point.

They've already done that with the Flashback

One of the few things we know is that it'll be PC based, not mobile/android. Of course, Atari is hardly the most trustworthy company I can think of, but we're working with what we have.
