10/10 objectively good games

These are the only games I think could be considered perfect:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Cave Story
DOOM (1993)
Dragon Quest V
Dragon Quest VIII
Katamari Damacy
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Super Mario World
Super Mario 64
Super Smash Bros Melee
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Wario Land 4
What do you think? By the way there are other games that I LIKE, but can realize big flaws in. These games either have very small flaws or flaws that don't detract from the overall expeeience

Honestly what a 10/10 IS can vary depending on user or concept.
In general I'd say that rank goes to games that you genuinely can't change or add much, they are at the peak of what they can do.

I would agree on DOOM (93) and the Mario games you listed.

Personally mine would be
Silent Hill 2
Downwell
Portal
Hotline Miami
Serious Sam TSE
Shadow Warrior Classic
Thief and Thief 2

>Hotline Miami
My nigga
I was going to put that but for some reason it didn't "feel" right. Maybe because it's too recent, I don't know. But I agree.

I don't blame you, but yeah, I think it was the best possible blend of fun gameplay and high energy atmosphere. Was a joy to play all the way through.

2 has arguably better and more responsive gameplay but levels are questionable in size. Hard mode can be pure pain really.

Quake?

Disgaea 1
Riven
Eldritch
JSRF
Abe’s Oddysee
Blood

Where's Deus ex (the original)?

Max Payne
Final Fantasy Tactics
Ace Combat 5
Terraria

wario land 4 isnt even the best in the series

the list looks good but i havent played some of the games

deus ex 1 is missing

Nier Automata

>Serious Sam TSE
>Second Encounter
>Objective 10/10

This is why these objectively perfect threads are retarded and so is everyone who takes them seriously.

>Terraria
I've heard a lot of praise for that game but could never really get into it. I played with a friend a couple days ago. He let me borrow an uzi and some armor and we went to go fight a boss. I didn't have much health so I kept getting OHKO'd, but it was fun.

Give me three reasons why Serious Sam TSE does not fit your objective criteria of a 10/10 game

Move out of the way fuckers perfect list coming through. Not categorized in any way. Just perfect games that came to mind.

Baldurs Gate 2
Deus Ex
Thief 1 and 2
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
DOOM 1, 2, and nuDOOM
Serious Sam
UT 2004
Quake 3
Halo 3
Blood
Chrono Trigger
Ninja Gaiden Black
Hotline Miami
Fallout 1
Demons Souls
BloodBorne
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Silent Hill 2
Tf2 pre-2012
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Gothic 2
Total Annihilation
Supreme Commander
Starcraft Broodwar
UFO
Warcraft 3
Alien Isolation
Age of Empires 3
SWAT 4
Rimworld
Supermeat Boy
Castle Crashers
Metroid Prime
Timesplitters
Diablo 2
Battlefield 2142
DMC 3
Earthbound
Skies of Arcadia
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Ultima 7
Planescape Torment
Conkers Bad Fur Day
System Shock 2
Half Life
LISA the Painful
GTA Vice City and 4
Total Warhammer
Total War Shogun

Katawa Shoujo

Forgot Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

>wario land 4 isnt even the best in the series
Wario Land 2 might be better but 1 and 3 both have pretty glaring flaws especially 3

Wat too inclusive
10/10 is 10/10. Nothing higher. Not just "a game I really like"
Super Meat Boy might fit the criteria though

Congratulations you won the official Sup Forums cocksucker award

The whole premise of "objectively perfect" is fucking pants-on-head retarded, ESPECIALLY when it's presented in a hive of emotional little children like Sup Forums. These threads are meant for funposting, and anyone even thinking of taking them seriously is massively delusional AND underage.

That being said, there's some merit to a list such as the one OP made. Given that the games he listed are relatively simplistic in their scope, it's easy to argue that they might indeed be close to perfection, since the simpler the premise, the easier it is to achieve perfection. Whether that makes them 10/10 in relative sense to games that do more, but don't do it as closely to perfection is another thing entirely. But as you can see, assuming what I said is true, these "objectively perfect" lists will then very easily be populated by mostly games made by Nintendo or games on systems made by Nintendo. All the more reason to consider the threads shitposting, really.

nice picture you got there you fag

Only about half the games are Nintendo. The other half are PS, PC, and Arcade.

Monster Hunter World.

It has absolutely no flaws and it enrages nintendiddlers and ninfintiles.

Incredibly skill based on high dififculties, great enemy design, well balance of the weapons, runs on fucking anything, knows what it wants to be and achives it.

What's not to love user.

You don't have good taste.

A video game needs a good story to be a 10/10

Most of those games doesn't have story at all, so they don't qualify.

>Cave Story
Hard Mode: Running Hell, Falling Blocks room

Disqualified.

>A video game needs a good story to be a 10/10
Incorrect
Story is secondary to gameplay

>That being said, there's some merit to a list such as the one OP made. Given that the games he listed are relatively simplistic in their scope, it's easy to argue that they might indeed be close to perfection, since the simpler the premise, the easier it is to achieve perfection.

Absolutely this. Games like Tetris, Downwell, Super Meat Boy and Super Hexagon can't be improved nor nickpicked much because of their simple yet effective and polished gameplay is as good as it can get.

The more close a game (or anything) gets to it's "perfect" state, the easier it is to spot the minor flaws within it. Most games mentioned either are good enough to be able to not fall in such criteria or just nobody gives a shit, it's fun and does what it wants to do.

A lot of those games are heavily flawed such as System Shock 2, SWAT 4 and the GTA games

Also
>mentions STALKER
>doesn't specify which one

Literally fuck off

Respectfully disagree. Games like Max Payne gain from the story a lot, but you'll see many games that stood test of time and are still genuine fun generally have minimal/zero story/context or, in an extreme case removed what it has entirely, and it would still have been a blast to play.

I never got what the fuck was going on in Shadow Warrior DOS or House of the Dead series and they were still fun as hell.

One of the purest platforming games I've ever fucking played, deserves way more recognition that it gets.

I meant SoC. I thought most people just assumed that. I also think if a game is good enough in say, gameplay or atmosphere that it can outweigh the negatives.

>Running Hell
good music track

i remember this game! I wouldn't call it perfect, but it is good

>Falling Blocks room
where was that?

Do you think maybe Animal Crossing could be considered perfect?

How the fuck can you consider Thief 1 and 2 10/10 games? 1 had Escape and Strange Bedfellows, 2 was worse because it was rushed, having missions which rehash already existing maps (Trace the Courier, Masks), and Kidnap

>objectively good, universally acclaimed games
>still doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy them
For me, there has to be a hook or two, something that I care about on a personal level. Otherwise the quality of the game is worthless even if it was considered a GOTD.
