A forum I was part of since 2002 recently saw a significant decline in activity in the past couple of years. Boards are now a ghost town with an rare post here and there. One guy decided to put up a Discord and everyone got on board. We've had an active channel for the past year and it's just like the old times. Helps the mobile app makes everyone log in occasionally.

Pretty much got our community talking again and we even met old dudes who went MIA for a while.

I get there are better options but with how our bros grew out of forum posting, the accessibility of Discord from a lot makes it quite easy to gather people.

The R*ddit tier "jokes" that pop up when you first open Discord make me heave but besides that, I'm a fan. It sounds like a lot of people in this thread have just ended up in bad servers with irritating people, good servers do exist but they're hard to find.

I've been on three Sup Forums discords.
One was like a caricature of Sup Forums, except they were being serious about it. Another was about gay erotic roleplay. The third felt like a support group, everyone being disturbingly nice and police, while exchanging links to Sup Forums shit.
All were meant to be video game related, by the way,

Discord is a chat tool made by- and made for gamers. Any discussion that isn't videogames on it is because the users decide to not talk about videogames, but the program is specifically designed for comfort and ease to connect with other players.

I use Discord because it combines the highest quality audio with the undeniably best interface. Even IF it had worse quality than some out there, it would still be preferrable because of how comfortable it is to use over convoluted, ancient trash like Ventrilo and TeamSpeak.

You can't seriously believe that discord has a better interface than TS. This monstrosity is the worst UI i have ever seen in my life, the things you usually click on are so small or in a completely different window. 95% of the interface is trash that you will never click on.
