How are you supposed to know to jump on the blocks?

Just watch youtube streamers play it first :)
>jump to avoid goomba
>accidentally hits block
1-1 is a fucking masterpiece
how are you supposed to know that you have to jump to avoid goombas?
>nostalgiafags think this is good game design
Because if you don't avoid it, you lose? C'mon man
>angry mushroom thing is rushing towards you
>only thing you can do is run and jump
Even if it kills you, you're literally right where you started to try again.
I know this thread is bait, but 1-1 has been analyzed to death, there is almost always going to be an answer to "how was I suppose to know"
You aren't. It's the fact that you don't know what will happen is what makes it worth trying.
That's the magic of the game! Discovery!
Getting a game over is a fault of the game designer.
>there is almost always going to be an answer to "how was I suppose to know"
how I'm supposed to know I can go down on pipes?
checkmate nintendudes
DUUUUHH
I'M ARIN HANSON
HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW TO JUMP -IN- THE PAINTING? DUUHHHHH
How am I supposed to know whether the playable character is the dude in red, the mushroom or the angry mushroom? How they couldn't establish the narrative and characters before starting the game is well beyond my capabilities of understanding.
obvious bait.
Back in the day we didn't has ADD so we read the manuals
Not exactly 1-1, but you go in a pipe to enter 1-2, teaching the player that you can go in pipes
>its the dev's fault I'm bad
There is no achievement for jumping on the blocks? I did it like in the lets play! Is there a trick to it?
You know games came with manuals right? Every person who started playing a game knew what everything was already and how you have to interact with them and use them.
usually you just press every button, to find out what's what
when you realise there's no hit button or attack button and only a jump one
you jump over the Goomba
it's only until later or by accident you find out that you jump on the Goomba to kill them
How was i supposed to know that i had to press buttons so my character takes any action?
You didn't you had to explore gameplay piece by piece
by watching your older brother playing, first
The question mark kind of gives it away.
It's never critical to go down pipes, but when you learn how to do it (either by the demonstration that mentioned or by experimentation) it adds a whole new element to the game.
Going by oldschool game sense?
You jump on them because they're glowing. You always interact with everything glowing that isn't an enemy. Sometimes even then.
Woooooooooooooow how was I supposed to know that I had to breathe to survive fucking bugged living mechanics.
Mario Maker explained the psychology behind the design.
>Place coins to lead the player along
>Place blocks and items that make it obvious you need to jump
>Place enemies so there's something to do in between jumping on blocks
read the fucking manual you underage
youtube.com
Just watch this
How are you supposed to know to respond to the OP?
There were no manuals for me since I got games from the black market
You read the fucking manual, like every normal person did before in-game tutorials became a thing.
literally don't press any button in the start screen and the game will show it to you in demo mode
