Xbox One, without question.
>native PC support
>actually analog
>god-tier controller to boot

>God-tier
Not with those bumpers.

>joystick

Microsoft Sidewinders.

arguably the BEST controller for PC is the steam controller, nothing comes close.
its above any other controller i've ever used but under Kb/M, also you can play ANY game, it doesnt matter if it doesnt have controller support, the right pad can be used as a mouse and you can customize it completely.
also if you ever played splatoon youll know how good Gyro aiming feels, well the SC has Gyro too.

Switch Pro. Just don't try to use it with an android

Will I have any problems if I take wireless?

support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc
If you have Windows 10, you shouldn't have any problem.

Looks annoying for FPS

but how long do the batteries last?
I am thinking between wireless and wired

it only works for steam games...
no thanks

>native PC support
Sure, if you're one of those insane people running Windows 10. For the rest of us you'll have to download a driver through M$ via Windows Update (good luck). If I can plug it in and have it working without having having to download drivers, then it's natively supported.

The DS4 works on PC out of the box (at least if you plug it in via USB) without any driver finagling as a simple DirectInput controller with none of the advanced features working like the touchpad or sixaxis.

Xbox One for analog games.
PS4 for 2D/retro games/fighting games.
Steam controller for FPS/strategy/anything that needs a mouse game.

For actual consoles...

8bitdo NES/SNES/Wii Retro Adapter + PS4 controller.

Brook PS3/PS4 to NeoGeo Super Converter + PS4 controller.

Also, I think I found a solution for playing any retro consoles with a PS4 controller.
You need the ToToTek adapter + this thing:
psx-scene.com/forums/f19/how-build-your-own-ps2-bluetooth-adapter-use-real-ps3-ps4-controllers-wirelessly-your-ps2-127728

Sadly there is no perfect solution for Dreamcast, since there are no adapters with analog trigger function.

Nintendo 64 is perfect for playing N64 games, but you need to fix the analog sticker with a SteelStick64 and ENKKO gears.

Print and glue some Vinyl decals on the stickers with button correct console layout on the PS4 controllers for retro gaming and you are done.

Man of refined tastes. The controller is seriously something special. I use it for everything but twinstick shooters and 2d games with bad stick support.

Analog sticks are a cancer on the industry that we haven't abandoned solely because the autistic cannot cope well with change.

Non steam game support got added. Just run em through Steam.

>150 dollars just to get the version with backpaddles when my Steam controller I bought for 35 has those and is objectively more accurate
No thanks.

wii u pro controller

like 70 hours of battery life
combination of 360 controller and ps3 controller in the best way

But then you're stuck with that cheap piece of shitty plastic.

360 if you're still on Win7 and don't see yourself switching OS anytime soon

Xbone controller if you have win10

it really isn't, in fact, it's on par with KB/M, albeit not AS precise.

>implying the steam controller is in any way/shape/form bad
(You)

maybe if your brain is wired autismally

it's like playing FPS with a trackpad and it's about as awkward as it sounds

>We stuck the cheapest chunk of metal we found into our controller to make it feel heavy, it's "luxury" now
The Xbone One pro controller is literally BEATS tier. The additions it has are genuinely nice but they should be asking 100 hundred for it at the absolute maximum and even then it'd be pushing it

compared to what?, joysticks?
i have the feeling you dont know what Gyro aiming is.

>Steam controller trackpads
>Anything like a laptop trackpad
How to spot somebody who's never touched the controller.

It lasts a really long time. You shouldn't have to go wired over battery life concerns.

with the amount of money you pay for the XXXXclusive Xbone Pro Controller you could buy a Steam Controller, a Steam Link and a fuckton of games on Sale.

> gaymin

And play them all badly

responded to wrong post

He saw his favourite youtube reviewer trash it so it must be bad.

I bought a Steam Link and a controller.

The controller is great but fuck me Steam Link is garbage
>Great internet
>Computer and Link both wired
>Still getting freezes and terrible picture quality on the "fast" setting

Found the guy that wasted 100 bucks.

wired x360 (wireless is a meme) for when you want a controller, buffalo snes for 2d emulation

>Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Seventeen
>Being afraid of an operating system

>Gaymin
Is that a Pikmin that marries his bro-Pikmin?

I've decided to go with wired xbox one
if I can't find it wired xbox 360 gamepad

What? It only works with games launched through Steam, but you can add non-Steam games and it works perfectly fine. It even has community configurations for shittons of non-Steam games.

True, i have mine and it hasnt given me any problems but i do know it has a LOT of bullshit.

would change the Steam Link for more games

It's not a waste if it actually works.

>Objectively more accurate controls than a standard dual analog stick controller
>"And play them all badly"
Enjoy your Beats by Microsoft my guy.

...

The Xbox One controller, anything else is memes.

So even worse, you bought one, failed at configuring a game for 5 minutes, and never touched the thing again?

It's literally the same kind of plastic that went into the Xbox 360 controller. Just the Steam Controller is lighter because it doesn't have that retarded battery pack in the back of the wireless 360 controller.

dualshock2 with adapter never fails me

if it did, you wouldnt be raging so bad rn.

>That left track pad
Hardcore buyer's remorse desu. Outside of Rocket League, Civ, and RE4 that lack of D-pad or right stick makes everything unplayable. I love the grips though

>trackball
>accurate

I remember the 90s when people hyped trackballs to be the next big gaming device. And then no one adopted them because they were shit. Just use a mouse for the things that can't be done in a normal controller.

Works slightly better than a standard xbone controller for triple the price

you can assume assumptions all you want

I wouldn't recommend this retarded piece of hardware to my worst enemy

That's a dumb line of logic. As expected from someone defending a trackpad.

how is it not bad? the touchpad part makes it objectively terrible

>he doesnt have his left pad input as touch only
Again, you really dont know what the fuck Gyro is, do ya?

anyone reading this don't fall for thin meme. Unless your dedicated to suck at every game for 1000 hours dont buy this piece of shit. It seriously sucks. Like really.

Nobody adopts replacements to analog because the autistic cannot cope well with change and whichever console dev makes the jump to the future of controllers first is guaranteed to lose the gen. Just like Nintendo and the analog stick in gen 5. The PS1 didn't chip with analog sticks on it's original controllers because people were maligning them as an unnecessary gimmick

PS4 controller is native now too.

PS4 or Bluetooth Xbox controller? Can I use the track pad as a mouse?

>it's another "I've seen reviews of the controller and never touched it" episode.

What's so bad about installing a driver? If it works within 5 minutes of plugging it in it's natively supported. Xbox One controllers work on 7 and 8 just fine.

Also
>Trackball
Who the fucks talking about a trackball.
The Steam Controller has trackpads and they're the most versatile means of controlling a game that exists currently.
Trackpad/Gyro is the best controller solution that exists currently.

Except people ended up adopting analog sticks because they worked. No one ever adopted a fucking trackball because it's a retarded concept that either mouse or analog stick does better depending on what you're playing.

The new controller has much better bumpers

It's also supposed to be sturdier than other controllers.

Analog sticks fit the baseline criteria of "functional", nothing more.

Yeah, just look at all those pros playing videogames on their laptops. Really versatile.

>people ended up adopting analog sticks because they worked.
you mean the were forced to adapt.

You can't configure something that is inherently fucked.

>Trackpads on the SC even in the same ballpark as laptop trackpads
>He thinks the only thing the trackpads do is mouse and camera stick controls
>I've never even held a Steam controller and I want everbody to know it
Laugh at this faggot.

seeAre you retarded enough to think that you use your index finger on the right pad? kek.

>using nintendo, whom hasn't produced a mainstream controller since the snes, as an example of where controllers are going
>the company that ditched competing even slightly with sony and microsoft to make their own mobile platform and compete with themselves/3ds instead
>the company that tried to push wagglan and the n64 controller

fucking kek. analog isn't going anywhere in games.

You can use track pad as a mouse if you have DS4Windows running. It might work natively now too though I'm not entirely sure. Either way it's very easy to set up

No one took away the d-pad from them. People just found out they were better for 3d games. Trackpad is a shitty sidegrade that is straight up worse.

>Forced to use big picture mode to configure it

I never threw something into the back of my closet to forget it existed faster.

i agree on that statment doe, Big Picture Mode is ass and i fucking hate it...
BUT you can configure the game without it, you just gotta start your controller and every game will have an "Configure steam controller" on default.

I'm pretty fucking impressed how the Switch Pro Controller is instantly compatible with Big Picture mode from the get-go, and that the Home button even opens it up.

not an argument?

Steam controller costs 55 euros while the xbox one 50.

What the fuck? that's retarded
I was thinking about getting one but there's no way now

>analog isn't going anywhere in games.
Oh I'm well aware. That's the problem though.

>using nintendo, whom hasn't produced a mainstream controller since the snes, as an example of where controllers are going
One of the least intelligent statements I've ever read. Gamecube was the last Nintendo console to exclusively have non traditional controllers. The Wii pro, WiiU pro, and Switch pro controllers all exist, and the WiiU tablet is literally a normal controller with a tablet screen, it grips and weighs exactly the same.

and a wired 360 is better than both for $25

Steam controller went on sale a few weeks ago for 35. As it does from time to time.

>shit dpad
Nah

youtube.com/watch?v=36HnfZF_cVA
Anyone interested in the Steam Controller should watch this video instead of the shitty reviews.

>a regular controller
>with a tablet screen

now you're just pretending to be dumb. its nothing like a typical controller. here this is a totally normal controller too.

What's a good wired controller for PS4?

heres your argument

fails me for every game on pc that used xbox 360 controllers natively. every fucking time the analogs would be rotated about 90 degrees and everything would be fucked. i own two of them, they were great for emulators, but never functioned properly for shit like mirrors edge and shit ported from 360.

if you play fighting games with an analog controller you're doing it wrong either way

and what else do you need it for?

menu navigation?

bitch please, the days of the dpad are long gone

It's held 1:1 like you would a normal controller. It feels no different in your hands.

The retards who chimp out at the first sign of something different on a controller are one of the most detrimental forces in the video game industry today.

Looks worse than just straight up using m+kb senpai. Reminds me of that video where Polygon plays Doom and they can't shoot and move at the same time.

as i said before in this thread, is not a KB/M replacement, but i'll be damned if it isnt a complete upgrade to any single kind of controller in the market
also, That dude was playing with a PS4 Controller, makes ya think doesnt it?

you're still missing the point. nintendo doesn't produce controllers you use for things besides nintendo games. where as sony and microsoft typically put out a controller you can also use comfortably on your pc for every game. the last nintendo controller that was close to mainstream and usable for most things was the snes and its why i suggest the buffalo controller for emulation.

the gamecube controller wasn't bad but its still far enough from the others that you wouldn't want to use it for other things, lacking buttons etc

Depending on the game I use

PC game first, expects mouse: Steam Controller
Modern Console game first, expects Controller: PS4 passed through steam controller interface so I can do rebinds and functions
Old emulated console game: Switch Procon

well the new Switch Pro Controller has Gyro, and the Wii U Pro Controller was PC Compatible (you just needed an Adapter)

>nintendo doesn't produce controllers you use for things besides nintendo games
Maybe as far as PC support goes, I'll give you that.
But if you're talking design and functionality you're actually retarded. I'm not the biggest fan of traditional twin stick controllers but Nintendo's is totally competent.

Of what's available stock I go for a PS3 pad when I need sticks, a fightstick when I play fighting games and a Saturn pad when it's 2D.

My ideal controller will likely never exist.

Not for months dude, it's just an option in your steam game list now.

the threads topic is specifically about whats best for using on pc, multi platform. nintendo doesnt do that. i forgot about the pro controller which is at least close

Analog sticks are literally the worst shit that have ever existed.
They were adopted because they were the first serviceable solution for 3D movement that came up and even then it took a massive industry push to drag critics into the future kicking and screaming about a completely and totally necessary change. It's the same way today with people holding onto analog sticks and traditional controls.

The flopping motion is terrible, every console game that has aiming in it needs so much aim assist out the ass to make it functional that you might as well not even be controlling the game, they cap out at a certain turn speed, the list of problems go on.
Analog sticks are the bottom of the barrel. They only perform better than virtual buttons on a touchscreen like on smartphones.

Even fucking circle pads with a good grip are better, the sliding motion is much closer to 1:1 whats happening in game whether your moving your character or sliding the reticle across the screen.
But trackpads are better, gyro is better, trackballs are better, Kid Icarus Uprising touchscreen aiming controls are better. We've come up with several significantly more accurate and more responsive solutions to replace the analog stick. The literal only reason that they haven't been adopted is because the autistic cannot easily cope with change and if one of the big three changes their controller they'll lose, but if they make it an optional controller you can buy it'll never gain traction or support.

>I only touched the launch model gamepads
The S controller is fucking neato, and fixed the bumpers. I'm also buying that Duke rerelease they teased after E3.
