Is it really THAT bad?
Is it really THAT bad?
Mediocre and forgettable. Not really bad though.
6/10 game in every way.
Yes. 2/10 at best
It was better than DA2 at least.
Its not bad just really boring. 7/10. Nu Average game. Assassin rouge best glass.
Is it worth starting this series?
It seems like people like Origins and everything since was shit.
Play DA 2 first and it'll seem like a good game.
Then play DA:O which is great.
Then dont play DAI at all.
I grew up on crpgs in the late 90s and Origins was a great 9/10 game for me. It's a standalone story, your character does not exist in any of the future games. Plus it's like $5 for the game and all DLC on GOG right now.
Better than DA2, but still immensely boring. If you're a completionist, it's even worse. 90% of the quests are absolute garbage fetch bullshit.
It's better than Mass Effect Andromeda. That's not saying much though.
I couldn't stomach the game because of the armor/outfit options. If you play as anything other than vanilla human you're guaranteed going to have a miserable time in making your character look good.
I like the cover art at least.
Worse than DAO but better than DA2. It has future potential if they make a tighter experience in DA4 without the open world meme and bring back blood magic and the murder knife
"Bad" is relative, but do you want to play mediocre?
Kinda reminds me of those 80s and early 90s game covers.
They should have just made it the warden and sons/daughters hero's journey, this series would have been a master piece. instead we have a different game each time with past characters thrown together
just play DA1 and thats it, everything else is shit.
No, it's actually good/decent. Dragon Age is the only redeemable IP Bioware has got, now that Andromeda failed so miserably. People have been asking for DA4 quite loudly, to be honest.
That relates to modern review scores.
Theres not many actually bad AAA games, the mediocre ones are 8/10's.
Im annoyed how people demands the average score to be 5/10, the publishers dont pay for developers to make something thats "halfway there".
play 2 then inquisition, then origins
OP here. I heard that the quests are like MMO quests. Is this true? If so, it's going straight off my list.
I'm playing through it now and yes it is that bad. Aside from the mundane combat even at the highest difficulty the writing and story are surprisingly bad. I suspected that it would be a lame story when I started the game but it has surpassed my expectations. All the choices are nearly black and white and the plot just doesn't hold interest. This is worsened by the awful dialog wheel that obscures what the fuck the MC will say and you end up with some off kilter snark that is so out of place you'd think the Inquisitor has assburgers or something. Half of the characters are absolutely terrible, which makes the option to tell them to fuck off forever a nice feature. I guess it has nice graphics going for it, but they are ruined by lame designs. It's worst offense however is how it completely overstays it's welcome it just drags on and on. It really is the worst type of offline MMO experience.
Honestly I think I prefer DA2 just because some of the aspects of the story and how the city changed over time kept me at least casually interested in what happens next. I can't bring myself to care about DAI at all. I only feel obligated to play it because I wasted time playing the other games and I paid 20 bucks for it.
As an aside, the "flirt" options are hilarious. They make your character seem like the thirstiest fucking beta in the world. I guess thats what appeals to the hardcore biodrones that defend this and Dickinmyasseffect 3.
I just realized there's a dragon hidden on the cover
>playing games out of release sequence
It's MMO style padding: the game
That's what makes it so bad regardless of any other issues it has
No, but it continued to spit on DA:O after 2 came out and everybody complained about that disaster.
It's a mediocre game.
hey hollywood makes prequels, why not. each DA story is self contained to each game anyway
Yes. Its essentially a singleplayer mmo. The enviorments were pretty though.
/thread
i dont understand how bioware sometimes manages to make good games like ME2 or DA:O, its like the stars aligned and they made good game for once.
The game is only fun if you ignore the side quests and focus just on the main story. That is how bad the quests are.
Yes, it's fetch quests galore.
Difference is, prequels always have actually better effects and all the progress from making the previous films.
Playing games in reverse order is a downgrade each time.
DA2 had actual fucking quests too. I will take real questing in repeated environments over assassins creed collectable shit any day.
No point saving the best for last. Origins is the best rpg of the bunch
go play DA:O
That always drives me crazy. Studios should try and keep the aesthetic of the series. Otherwise it always ends up with prequels looking more high tech than the source material.
this
its this sometimes being predictable isnt that bad when everybody is expecting and want it
>isnt rape if she wants it
I liked it a lot. Open world game play and together mechanics arepretty much just like TW3 except this game has teammates and tactical class based combat. So if you liked TW3s gameplay there's no reason you wouldn't like DAI
It's a bad game, becomes bearable if you roleplay as a modded female elf mage, gets decent endgame, sets up the sequel nicely, side quests are useless, not enough activities as inquisitor, crafting is ok with mods and cheats.
That was back before EA snatched them up. DAO was in development for like 8 years while they built up all the lore and everything.
Yes, it's worse than DA2 in almost all aspects besides varied scenery.
Really? But i feel like i'll be missing out.
Gameplay wise how is the difficulty and skill choices? Can I go out and make something fun or is it pretty dull and boring?
It's kinda fun for early parts when you are experimenting during battles and getting used to the system but then once you figure out the best strategies it becomes rinse and repeat the game.
I stopped playing after an hour. shallow and shitty AI
Sup Forums is literally one of the only places that actually thinks this game is bad. Everyone else legit praises this shit to no end.
Can we stop acting like it isn't one of the greats when it comes to modern RPGs?
All the Dragon Age games are shit for different reasons.
>DA:O has boring, outdated combat with a barely-existent main story.
>DA2 is a rushed job where enemies are on crack and environments are C&P.
>DA:I forces the player to do shitty side-quests in order the progress through the game.
most people here REALLY thought it was gonna be another andromeda (before the game even came out) and are still currently trying to save face
poor that
One of the few redeeming features of DA:O is that we can kill off the Warden so that shit like never comes to pass.
