Does anyone else miss instruction books?

Does anyone else miss instruction books?

Did anyone else read them and get hyped while waiting for the game to install as kids playing their slow as shit Windows 2000 PCs and thinking how magical the game would be?

I wish they still included them but they aren't needed anymore.

I do wish Switch games included soundtracks in the cases in the form of mini-CDs.

As a matter of fact, yes.

I read the glover handbook while my dad tried to get that piece of shot installed for me for hours

I read them on the way home from the game store, but yeah, same idea.

>parents buy you a game
>You read the instruction manual on the ride home
I've never knew such hype since

>staying at grandparents for christmas in 2003
>get gamecube and smash bros for christmas
>holyfuckholyfuckholyfuckholyfuckholyfuckholyfuckholyfuckholyfuck
>would not put down the manual the whole ride home afterward

That made my childhood.

Evil Within is the only game I can think of in in almost a decade where they cared enough to have an instruction manual that wasnt just a two page pamphlet with legal info on it. Say what you will about that game, but it had heart

i miss when i enjoyed life and it didnt feel like such work

Hell yes motherfucker. Best car rides home.

The Starcraft manual and WC3 manual were the hypest shit. Tons of interesting lore.

>Don't open that in the car!

The instruction book for Halo:CE was fucking God tier. I read that shit on the toilet as a kid.

Im really glad the ps1 games you can get digitally made sure to keep the instruction manuals ready for your reading pleasure tucked away in their own special menu

Yeah, it was neat to look at the art printed in them sometimes.

All this time I thought Strider was a cyborg.

>stealth fapping to the cute girls in a jrpg's manual during the car ride home

Barely played retail games on my PC as a kid but I remember when we went multiple times to visit the US and got tons of games because they were cheaper and then my brother and I would stare at the instruction manuals for hours wondering what the game would be like before we got back home.

do something you love for work

i think he is in the new one actually

i dont seem to enjoy anything anymore, but thanks for asking

Easier said than done

Shut your trap, Dad!

I remember fondly reading through the Caesar 3 and pharaoh instruction books while sitting on the can. Also got a good read out of icewind dale 2 and all the listed spells effects and monsters. The Diablo 2 manual was good for some backstory as well. Alot of them had some nice artwork too, shame they don't have manuals anymore and just depend on players to create a wiki for everything.

Ni no Kuni had an awesome instruction manual.

>used to jack off to girls in video game instruction manuals in the bathroom because I had no other wank material available
no regrets

Manuals, no.

The little fluff books that had story, lore, spell grimoires, monster compendiums, etc, yes.

This

Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator has a decent one as well.
