Usually comes down to dmc3 or ngb. Personally dmc3 for me. MGR is dumb fun but kind of shallow.

The definitive cuh-rayzee game is probably DMC4 or Ninja Gaiden 2.

The hardest looks like a unanimous vote for God Hand, although I think other games are harder.

cuh-rayzee is supposed to be character action with a certain amount of abridged freedom in both combat and mobility.

it's fun but it also requires some technical prowess in order to do the crazy stuff you see in demo videos/intro videos of the game.

I didn't like Bayo2 as much as 1. Even worse bosses and enemy encounters aren't as well designed.

I think it started as a meme and then became a genre. When DMC3 came out there was a demo video you got showing off all the cool stuff you could do with the styles. In most character action games, there's a sort of spectator video or showcase like that showing all the cool stuff you might have missed or didn't think about trying.

It's in DMC4, I think it's in Bayonetta and I know it's in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I don't think there's a demonstration kind of video in Ninja Gaiden but I could be wrong.

Bayo 2 is one of the most disappointing sequels I've ever played, making Witch Time required for most enemies made combat incredibly boring and repetitive and Umbran Climax completely fucks up the game balance and makes magic irrelevant since there's no reason to ever use it for anything other than Umbran Climax.
The Masked Lumen Sage fights are also awful.

I have been shilling the shit out of Ninja Gaiden games lately and a couple of people seemed to show interest. Did any new players actually pick up these games or was it all talk?

It's true but at least they sort of referenced it with Chad and Ichigo's mask. Every other shounen manga like Hajime no Ippo and Naruto just say it's a counterculture movement with no real influence.

I can get behind this. I got into God Hand after other stylish action games and it still gave me a run for my money on normal. I can only imagine how much of a struggle Hard would have been.

if you think i'm going to read that you're insane. i've beaten both, and bayo 2 is way better. it improved upon bayo1 immensely, which wasn't that hard to do with bayo 1's pseudo platforming and hamfisted QTEs. bayo 2 has far more refined combat and a lot more leaner, better environments, more varied weapons and more varied enemies and better boss battles.

i'm not arguing past this point since you won't change the objective truth i hold

That's pretty good. I never use Barrel Roll kick because it takes so long to use, but I didn't know you could abuse the bounce to get some extra damage.

Hard mode is just permanent level DIE. It's actually easier than Normal mode. If you played Normal on level DIE then you don't have to worry about the difficulty fluctuating all the time, and all the attack patterns are the same.

I never thought about it as a cuhrayzee game, but it is super fast and you get to smack robots with a giant pole. And dat vector cannon.

I did not, I stayed at level 3 and 2 almost 50/50 once I got the hang of the game. Every time I'd reach Die I'd get my ass whooped and have to restart.

Oh yeah if you use the God hand at all or the God Roulettes it's kind of easy. Level die just kills you in a couple of hits and the chances of demons appearing is raised so it has a margin of difficulty that creates some semblance of challenge.

If you don't use the God Hand or God Roulettes then you would probably die a lot. I've beaten it on both Hard and Normal and I would have to say normal on Level Die is harder. When you die on normal or get hit and your rank goes down, you get used to being on level two and then you get back to die and immediately have to deal with demons spawning back to back. Where on Hard mode you'll just deal with the game categorizing each demon encounter on the same difficulty basis.

You can build up your rank almost instantly just by dodging, and even if you don't do that it just takes an enemy or two to build it back up again, hardly any time to get used to the lower difficulty modes. The dropped rank can also help you clear difficult sections easily which isn't possible on hard mode. I will say that level 3 and die feel like different games compared to 1-2 though, most of the effective strategies of lower levels become useless.

Yeah I know, it just becomes a problem when the game spawns a level one demon on level 2 and then you rank up to DIE, accidentally kill another baddie, and it spawns a level 3 demon, and then you have to fight the both of them without using God Reels or God Hand.

I think Sigma on the PS3 still has some dismemberment, but I heard the second remaster was toned down slightly.

Sigma 2 is the only censored game. It still has dismemberment and blood, just less blood. When you cut a piece of in Sigma 2 instead of a torrent of red blood there is a demonic purple mist effect, it actually looks good but of course gore is better. The gore in the cutscenes is censored though, no dismemberments there.

It's not a big deal bu it is a flaw.

I heard that Sigma 1 is censored in Europe. You can't buy the game there digitally anymore but i can't confirm the gore as i bought the burger version which does have decapitations.

Best of luck to you with this one, i bought all these games on sale and it was the only time i have only seen them with a discount. I had to buy Sigma 1 from the burger store "full" price.

level 3 demons and level 2 demons are the worst.

The rolling attack is the absolute worst. And level 3's have the spikes that have no sort of indication as to when they'll do it so you just have to backflip on reaction. I like killing them with Haymaker of God and God Jab. I know it's cheap but it's so relieving.

that reminds me, i've been god hand like a dozen times now but never actually did a NG+. Just found out about the god moves like a month ago, wild shit.

I remember wanting to do a NG+ immediately the first time I played it thinking you'd get to fuck around the whole game with the two hands and double buddha but when I found you didn't keep that shit I just moved on immediately. Every time I've played since has been with my saves gone for various reasons or just popping in to fight azel because I tend to keep a save right before that fight because I'm a fag who loves to replay it all the time
