Playing Persona 4 again after P5 makes me realize these guys don't really like each other much as friends at all
This. At least in persona 3 the group vibe of no one feeling like actual friends is intentional and plays to the story
They only love chad-kun
>implying the characters in 5 are any more well written than 4
The fuck do you mean they are a fucking Scooby Doo tier group in a good way.
Look at Iogr's old picture to the new one, freaked me out when I went back to 4 from 5
No one hated each other quite as much as everyone hated Ryuji though.
I loved Ryuji, second only to Yusuke and Makoto.
Ann was my least favorite, she was boring as hell.
After Yusuke joined the team Ann never was in my lineup for the entirety of the rest of the game.
I got that feeling too, it hit especially close to home. My group of friends weren't tight as a whole, we were more all friends with one guy in the circle. None of us ever hung out without that one guy present. After high school his family moved and that was the end of that.
This is exactly what I imagine happened to the P4 cast, they would have all drifted apart.
I think one of P3's strengths was that there were more moments of the characters seeing each other outside of just hanging out with the main character.
Gave more of a sense that they had their own lives and relationships.
Pretty much.
The girls hated the boys because ewwww boys.
Yosuke hated Kanji because ewwww gays.
Teddie saw Yosuke and Kanji as competition in his quest for booty.
Chie and Yukiko seemed to distrust Rise for being a celebrity and thus "not like them".
No one liked Naoto, she just barged in on their business and got to stay because ace detective.
The whole group revolved entirely around Brotag. Which I assume was the intention.
In P5 your Confidants aren't quite the same as the SLinks from P4. Your confidants are definitely friends, but they are, at the end of the day, give and take relationships. You are making deals.
In P4, however, that's not the case. The links aren't about making a good deal, they're about forging bonds.
This is even evident when you max them out in P5. You've made a strong bond, and receive the greatest deal they have, their ultimate confidant skill. They'll be good friends, sure, but several years down the line, you and your friends might just grow a bit distant.
In P4 though? You forge an unbreakable bond with them. No matter what happens, you and this person's fates have been forever intertwined. Everything from the image of the card slowly manifesting itself, from the musical score, to the text, in P4 is signifies the greatest conclusion of that Arcana in your journey.
Except Chie and Yukiko maybe
Yukiko and Chie had a decent bond going on.
>No one liked Naoto
Their bond ends up breaking apart when exposed to Brotag magic. Eventually they're reduced to standing in the street with a ! over their heads waiting for Chad to talk to them.
Yeah, Yosuke was a cunt to Kanji most of the times they interacted and Rise called him Moronji.
This. One of P5's biggest flaws is that some characters (especially Yusuke and Ann) lose all agency in the main plot after the first few months. If there were scenes like this it would really give more depth to the characters as well as just giving them something to do.
He gets a crush on her as part of his character arc but eventually drops it because Naoto needs to remain available for the player. He stops talking to her entirely outside of group scenes, and only about either the investigation or Brotag.
>They'll be good friends, sure, but several years down the line, you and your friends might just grow a bit distant.
Yeah but the blood oath part implies that should they ever catch wind that you're in need of help, they'll drop everything to aid you. Which is what they do when you get locked up. Sure they have their own lives beyond you but they'll always have your back if the need arises.
Chie and Yukiko will always stick with each other, and Kanji actually has frequent dealings with Yukiko's Inn, so he'll also probably stick quite close with them. Yosuke and Teddie are basically shackled together forever, the only rogue agent would be Naoto, going off to pursue cases elsewhere.
You forgot Rise.
Of course not. Because P4 is better
Shit you're right, Rise and Naoto are the ones who will basically piss off for ever. Well, Rise probably still goes back to Inaba on her off season to chill with the tofu and the guys. And it's not unreasonable to think Naoto might also drop by her grandpapi's estate as a retreat to think difficult cases or unwind.
I'm not sure why the later Personas have shied away from moments like that.
Giving the entire party social links is fine and all, but protagonist-kun is always dull as dishwater. It's the interactions and relationships that the party has outside of him that really gives them their chance to shine.
Also replaying Persona 4 and realize how scarce and difficult it is to utilize garu skills in one persona because the fucking wheel of fortune SL is only available on the last week of the game making all wheel of fortune personas completely fucking useless and a waste of time to invest so your only option is to use this closeted faggot
>Chie's well known at the police academy
>Rise made it big as an idol
>Yukiko successfully took over the family business
Did P5 reference what happened to any of the guys?
"Bakanji" is actually affectionate and really cute, if anything Rise was the one whom didn't treat Kanji like complete shit.
>Want to replay Persona 4 because I want that comfy vibe it has
>remember everything else
P4 was my first Persona game and I had this exact problem too.
