I'm about half way through and so far i might like this a little bit more than Zelda BOTW.

Got my platinum last night. Spent about 60 hours with it and enjoyed most of it a lot. I enjoyed BOTW more even though Horizon has better writing and combat.

The story actually gets a lot better at the halfway point. I was invested in it by the time it was over. Do all the side quests! Some of them are pretty in depth and can actually change the ending a bit.

I havent played it, when I see one of these generic open world games that all follow the same design trends, be it this or Mad max, my brain just turns off and I have less than no interest. Seeing the combat go into slow motion just so the player can hit weak points alone was enough for me to steer clear.

The graphics are beautiful but ive been so overexposed to screenshots and people telling me how good it looks that i've grown numb to it.

Depends on what you like. It's got the monster hunting and mostly good writing of Witcher 3 and the skill/XP system of Far Cry 3/4 combined.

When I finally got to that bit of the game I couldn't believe it. Sup Forums had me expecting some in your face SJW propaganda but it was just a girl in a hijab giving some people their orientation. I did kek when Aloy assumed some lady's sexual orientation in one of the side quests. The devs must have thought they were sticking it to someone or being really progressive but I could see someone getting offended over it.

If the enemy isn't half dead before you knock a second arrow you've done it wrong

There's stealth, elemental weaknesses, frenzying the robots, traps, overrides, the rope gun, removing components etc

The whole "who am I and why am I here?" is overdone but near the end there's a good two hours worth of quests that are mostly just Aloy finally getting answers about why the world was almost destroyed.
You get to see what the team that was trying to save the world was experiencing and why/how things failed.
You find out why you're being hunted and what's hunting you.
You can do a series of quality side quests that I was amazed were left optional. A few of them felt like major points in the main campaign of a game.

I'm not gonna tell you the story. It's all out there if you want to look it up. Just my opinions.

I haven't bought too many weapons/tools because I figured the progression would be more gradual after how slow the intro was. As far as stealth there are a number of forced encounters where that isn't an option and those were the most annoying to me. The tripcaster seems practically useless because half the time enemies will dance around or jump over it. Also all the status inducing stuff takes like two or three good hits to induce any effects, which jumps closer to five when I can only get in a hit or two at a time before I have to dodge and run around some more, which causes the threshold gauge to deplete. I dunno maybe I just need to experiment more, or maybe it's just not my thing.

Making Aloy attractive would require venturing beyond makeup and into prosthetics, perhaps even surgery

I don't know why but the realistic girl next door look really gets me hard. Online you see so many really hot girls that you become desensitized to it and then suddenly the average girl you see on the street becomes a lot more appealing.

I'm actually playing Horizon Zero Dawn right now and I agree, OP. For some reason I think Aloy is really cute. There's something about her.

I'm loving it, not as much as BotW but it's really good. I'm on my second playthrough and I've just been doing stuff around Meridian for the last few hours though, I need to progress the story though before that new expansion.
To those who are thinking of playing but the SJW thing is a turnoff don't listen to that, it's actually very much the opposite.

The better versions of weapons are way way more effective. I had your problem for a while until I realized my weapons were shitty.

There are some moral choices you can make that affect things in the game but nothing too major. There are quite a few long side quests that are fun and interesting.

I guess I'm just used to games throwing a bunch of useless shit at you that you only use once(and only dubiously need in the first place). Plus I tend to adopt a save and splurge strategy where I skip a lot of early game upgrades to go straight for the higher level stuff. I'm a pretty conservative player.

That's because her flaws that make her a person are more visible.
