Nintendo really does listen to the fanb-

Miyamoto and Tanabe just want to spite Paper Mario fans for some reason.
They saw people having fun with the partner characters in 64 and TTYD and it sent them both into an autism fit.
Now we'll get nothing but Toads until the end of time
That's Iwata's Nintendo, not Kimishima's. You will understand.
You wanna know why? Because paper Mario is a spinoff and a low ranking one too. Mario kart gets love with new games and ports because it's a high selling franchise. Paper Mario isn't.
>Paper Mario Sticker Star exists because we want every Paper Mario game to be a different genre!
>so here is Sticker Star 2
I have never been happier that a game bombed.
What makes you think Kimishima will give us a proper Paper Mario?
If that's true then why can't they just let it die with some dignity, instead of giving us literal garbage like Color Splash?
nintendo listen mostly to the JAPANESE fanbase.
like all japanese corp, they have a severe distaste for foreign opinions. also, japan is all about form over function. if its badly done but look good, its good.
Iwata gave you Other M and Fedration Force
Kimishima is giving you Prime 4 and Samus Returns
You will understand
I dunno man, I want to believe you but I refuse to get my hopes up just to have another Color Trash
Mainline Mario =/- SPinoff Mario
Mainline will always be allowed to be creative because Miyamoto can directly oversee it. Even shitpiles like 3D Land had new enemies instead of just recycling everything. Spinoff Mario (Aka anything not directly made by Nintendo like Alphadream, NDcube, Intelligent Systems etc) is always doomed to have to pick up the scraps from the main series now, because that's how this shit works with Safe Nutendo.
I liked color splash.
Nice gameplay you got there
Whatever, if you like the Wii U's Knack then you just have shit taste
At this point I'm willing to accept a complete rehash of TTYD.
Thanks.
Me too.
Nintendo already did HD remasters of TP and WW, and Superstar Saga is getting a remaster too. Tanabe just needs to swallow his pride and accept that the fans would rather have a remaster of TTYD than anything his garbage team can shit out.
>Iwata gave you Other M and Fedration Force
Federation Force was released a year after Iwata's death/a year into Kimishima's reign.
The way marios head bends on jump bothers me
>the backtracking is now much simpler, something even TTYD couldn't accomplished, where in most cases you can go back to a level and get right to the place where you haven't been before and use whatever new thing you may have to get through it
>the cards are nothing like stickers, there's more strategy based around how much paint you want to add to increase damage
>limited supply of paint that grows with EXPERIENCE POINTS and LEVELS UP
>Huey isn't as annoying as Kersti
>the Bowser fight is good and not bogged down by stages involving use of gimmicks against him and some rando regular enemies
>legitimately witty dialogue
>good mix of jazz orchestra from SS and other instruments add to the sound
>>the cards are nothing like stickers
stopped reading there
I think the problem lies with Paper Mario fans wanting another RPG Paper Mario. Unfortunately, Nintendo sees Mario & Luigi as the RPG Mario franchise, and Paper Mario as more of a Mario franchise where they can experiment with different playstyles and try new things. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the next Paper Mario is just a Mario 2D platformer with some of the Super Paper Mario gimmicks. Developed by WayForward.
I can't really recall but didn't they base the last two games around the opinions of people that did the surveys and most said they didn't like the rpg elements?
I like sticker star
How bad did color splash bomb? I fucking hate that game.
I smell Cody's bald spot.
ase. Finish your shit my dude
Nintendo is too retarded to know when to remake their games. Before it was released on the 3DS virtual console in 2011, Metroid II was last playable on a system released in 2003. It was made for portable hardware that was released before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
SPM was good. Never understood why everyone shits on it.
>Miyamoto and Tanabe just want to spite Paper Mario fans for some reason. A blah blah blah blah blah
Why do people write fanfiction posts like these? Posts they know they're pulling out of their ass as if Miyamoto himself is browsing their posts?
What is it about Sup Forums specifically that does this kind of shit day in and day out?
relax, there's no sign that he's here (yet).
>Passionate programmer gone CEO is worse than the man who has never played a video game in his life
I hate everything about your opinion
There's a reason they got butthurt and made the "no partners" rule.
Yeah, and it was the
>Miyamoto and Tanabe just want to spite Paper Mario fans
reason, right?
Yeah, they hate seeing people have fun with characters they didn't make themselves.
...
but they do. it's the fans that are the problem. for example, Skyward Sword was built almost entirely on the back of Club Nintendo suggestions from other zelda game feedback
>muh i hate different things
Poetic justice my friend.
now you know how we felt when they ditched SMRPG in favor of paper mario.
you're dumb
...
You will understand.
Iwata was passionate but Kimishima is probably a better businessman, which is what Nintendo needs.
Man.
I may be the cancer killing this industry, but fuck it; all I want is a remake of Paper Mario 64. Use Color Splash or TTYD or whatever. Just remake PM64 and make it pretty.
Hell, it's already a pretty game. Going back and playing it, it's aged amazingly well. Maybe just tidy things up and make it widescreen format.
I would unironically buy a shit ton of classic Nintendo games remastered if they were done with care and not half assed. I really doubt we are getting another traditional RPG Paper Mario ever; just do this instead.
I'm not a shareholder faggot.
And that somehow implies he'll make a proper Paper Mario because....?
go fuck yourself, kid. Don't lump me with you. Yes I was upset Paper Mario was literally SMRPG2. Yeah I'd never get the visual style or characters back, but it was hard to be as upset as you're trying to make it when Paper Mario was itself a fantastic game, followed by an even better sequel. At least they properly acknowledged their RPG roots. The shit afterwards is a disgrace everything done before it and it's not even remotely comparable.
You're just a bitch. A whiny bitch.
>traditional controls+gyro for the prime trilogy
Sign me the fuck up.
People might actually buy it
the game was announced before iwata died you dumb sperg, and games generally have been worked on for a while before they get announced. it was an iwata game. they're not gonna just not release a finished game because of backlash. huge waste of money you fucking idiot.
What? Elaborate
>Paper Mario was itself a fantastic game
no it wasn't. It was an ugly looking N64 game that never even got close to the memorability of the SNES title.
Now the second paper mario was actually good since the gamecube had the power to handle it, but a proper SMRPG would have been infinitely better.
My only request is to please neck yourself.
This is really conflicting to me because Color Splash is trying so hard to fix Stick Star's mistakes, like "Hey, I know what went wrong, let me try to fix it!"
It's like Miyamoto really does like this idea but also is trying to help this idea appeal to the audience as well.
It's so close to becoming grand, but it still needs a bit more.
>Color Splash is trying so hard to fix Stick Star's mistakes, like "Hey, I know what went wrong, let me try to fix it!"
You can polish a turd all you want, its still a fucking turd.
Sticker Star's formula is inherently shit.
>>the backtracking is now much simpler, something even TTYD couldn't accomplished, where in most cases you can go back to a level and get right to the place where you haven't been before and use whatever new thing you may have to get through it
Completely incorrect, it's on-tier with TTYD. You have multiple occasions of just replaying a whole level just for another Paint Star that's in the same room as the first one you got.
>>the cards are nothing like stickers, there's more strategy based around how much paint you want to add to increase damage
>>limited supply of paint that grows with EXPERIENCE POINTS and LEVELS UP
They tried making these work but it all falls flat. You get plenty of money for the Battle Spinner which gives fully painted cards, getting rid of strategy with paint-usage & level ups. Even if these weren't the case, the lack of knowing how much HP an attack deals really damages the tactical part of things since you'll always be guessing how much an attack deals. Also a lot of cards don't take that much paint outside of Fire/Ice Flower cards, but even then you can use other cards such as the Thing replicas from the Battle Spinner like the Teapot which effectively does the same thing as the Flowers.
>>Huey isn't as annoying as Kersti
Agreed
>>the Bowser fight is good and not bogged down by stages involving use of gimmicks against him and some rando regular enemies
It's certainly the best fight in the game since it does away with what the rest of the game tries to force you to do. I do dislike how it makes all Jump cards beyond Iron Jump cards useless though.
>>legitimately witty dialogue
It's hit or miss I feel, but yeah, it has it's great moments.
>>good mix of jazz orchestra from SS and other instruments add to the sound
The OSTs are agreed to be great still in both games.
>no it wasn't. It was an ugly looking N64 game that never even got close to the memorability of the SNES title.
Yes it was. It is easily one of the best looking N64 games aesthetically and it surpasses the memorability of SMRPG in certain chapters like the entire section with the Boo Mansion and Tubba Blubba. Your taste is just supremely shit, and all you have is garbage nostalgia instead of a genuine appreciation for video games.
My request is for you to eat my asshole. Faggot.
>facelift Mario Party 1/2 with traditional gameplay and no weird gimmick stuff like the new ones
>Sunshine with glorious Odyssey updated graphics
>F Zero GX in stunning HD
I hate defending remasters. Gaming should strive to reinvent and wow us again. But, if things lean more this way then the only company I would really be excited to see this from is Nintendo.
please tell me this isn't how retarded and bitter i look to M&L fags
i really want to replay paper mario/ttyd this summer but i'm still holding out for a switch remake/remaster or at fucking least a virtual console announcement
where the FUCK is the virtual console on this fucking thing
there is literally nothing wrong with taking an old game and updating it. just becuase you're redoing something doesn't mean you can't continue to move forward simultaneously.
see: metroid 2 remake + prime 4 being announced last week on the same day
Paper Mario was an insult to the immaculate world set up by SMRPG. And I'm glad you have been insulted by Color Splash so you know exactly how it feels.
I kindly invite you to eat my shit.
...
Color Splash bombed, people might buy an actual Paper Mario game
paper mario was better than that shit ugly menu sim though
I agree. But the moving forward part actually has to happen. A few game studios seem to be falling on the, "We just released a game 5 to 7 years ago?? Well, let's just licence a shitty remaster job to a Chinese company to make a quick buck!"
I don't want that.
He's a businessman. He knows if you give the customers the thing they want, they'll buy it. Therefore if they make a paper Mario based on what the consumer wants to buy rather than what gimmick the developer wants to try out this week, then it'll actually sell well. It's not that hard.
SMRPG was better, deal with it
And you're an insult to the human race you whiny jaded cunt.
>HURR GOOD THING THERES MORE SHIT VIDYA, NOW MORE PEOPLE CAN SUFFER XDDXDXD
Kill yourself.
Tanabe would just convince him it bombed because it was on Wii U, not because it was pure shit
I don't think he's aware of what PM fans want
TTYD was a garish mish-mash. PM64 and Color Splash have the best visual design in the series.
They're both great though, it's all up to preference on who likes what. SMRPG is a more traditional RPG while Paper Mario 64 is more tactical and focuses a lot how you attack enemies with the action commands. It also has a 3D space to explore outside of fights where as SMRPG had a isometric view with no partners/abilities outside of jumping to explore/progress.
>He knows if you give the customers the thing they want
any business man in gaming just goes "fuck it just make them THINK youre giving them what they want but dont actually put effort forward"
Color Splash was a great game. Sorry you require a bunch of lickspittle Donutsteels to follow Mario about to like a game.
Skyward Sword was built on the back of motion control swordplay, and then it wasn't because they couldn't figure it out, and then Wii Sports Resort came out and it was again, resulting in development constantly being scrapped and restarted with the culmination being a product that only spent about 9-12 months in development in the form that it would be released, despite having a production period of 3+ years.
Everything about Skyward Sword could be written in a book titled "How Not to Make the Next Installment in Your Multi-Million Dollar Franchise." That you would somehow pin its problems on the fans is the most Nintendo dicksucking retardation I've ever seen.
>Color Splash was a great game.
This is what contrarians actually believe
I honestly liked Color Splash. It was Sticker Star but not terrible.
>reading comprehension
that was the argument they used against the backlash against Sticker Star. They lied right through their teeth in making Color Splash. I wouldn't have minded a completely different genre like what SPM did, what I'm mad about is Sticker Star 2 is a thing
The Mario & Luigi series is better than both anyway
It's better than Sticker Star with it's world, dialogue and charm but it's still far from great. That gameplay is total ass and in some ways worse than Sticker Star due to menuing, slow animations & it not telling the player how much damage something deals. You also have the whole insta-deaths in boss fights for lacking the Thing card.
No it was still terrible
>Tanabe would just convince him it bombed because it was on Wii U, not because it was pure shit
but see he's not retarded and he can just say "but hang on now in comparison to these other wii u games it still sold like shit" because he's not like, 9
>hey guys, you know how Paper Mario is loved because of its witty story, unique characters, and great battle mechanics?
>let's only use Toads
>let's give the player limited use of every move
>let's make Bowser not talk at all
>let's make a slot machine an integral battle mechanic
>let's make it so you can't change targets and can only attack the target in the front so if it's one of those enemies with spears that change position each turn and you only have jump stickers, even if the one in the back has its spear down and you could attack it safely, you have to attack the one in the front which would result in you getting hurt aaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Fuck Sticker Star.
im aware of the differences between the games
like
???
If you say so, user. You aren't gonna change my opinion.
I get that a lot of people though 1:1 sword fighting would be a good idea, but they basically made the fights puzzles instead of fun. Enemies with electric weapons made you want to cheese them instead of actually fighting them because you had to bait their weapons so that you could get a decent hit in. And they didn't have to shoehorn motion controls into everything, flying being one of the worst examples. Having it be a button to flap and still controlling the bird's angle would've been fine.
Japan loved Sticker Star
Fuck no
I think Tanabe has too much of a grip on Paper Mario for us to ever actually receive a proper one again, but maybe you're right.
Tanabe was only assigned to Paper Mario, it was never his franchise.
really good game
What a great game is Color Splash
youtube.com
It's still a shit game to me but I heard that's been patched actually.
Japan is stupid
>Let's have a final boss designed purely to waste every sticker you have unless you figure out the "secret" way to beat each enemy wave so you literally run out of moves and have to reset
This is the only game I can think of where not making the fights unwinnable is an actual gameplay mechanic.
That's not an oversight, it's doing that to fuck with you, and I can guarantee that if this was in TTYD everyone would say it was 'based'.
wouldn't be surprised if they let the fucker keep making games till it's completely dead
>I can guarantee that if this was in TTYD everyone would say it was 'based'.
I can guarantee you have some weird victim complex about TTYD fans
Sorry that the actually good game is far more popular than Color Trash
Too bad that didn't happen in TTYD so you can't prove your point
And if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle. Whats your point?
Calm the fuck down nigger, I'm not even the guy that was bitching about that. This whole CEO pissing contest is fucking retarded anyway, I guarantee there's going to be some duds under Kimishima just like there were under Iwata.
>have to do three different fucking motion stylus control gestures just to do a basic fucking attack on a dumb mook enemy that you're going to fight 1000+ times over the course of the game
