C'mon now.
Arms and pokken are not going to end well
>tfw Hungrybox's autism about winning EVO ruined Melee's chances of not getting relegated to a side game
>sfv
>no kof
nah
might watch dbz
maybe arms if it turns out to actually have depth
>rising thunder
>melee finally off the main lineup
Jesus christ, finally. I love melee to death, but you can only watch so much of the same autismos playing the same shit and the same combos and the fake hype from the shit commentators.
Not to say Sm4sh is any better, infact it's worse. But it's a start for EVO.
I agree with everything you're saying, but there's an obvious problem here.
>same combos
What the fuck are you watching user? I'm getting sick of melee at evo too, but I'm not asinine enough to say some stupid shit like that. You wanna be sick of seeing the same combos over and over, watch MAHVEL or whatever NRS turd is currently being played.
Pretty fucking hype desu, I used to watch EVO for Smash only, but there's 6-8 games I'd watch on this list.
>ARMS
Why the fuck are people so excited over this. Its going to die as fast as fucking Pokken.
>watching other people play video games
ill never understand this
WHOOOOOOOOOOOA HE SHINE SPIKED?
WHOOAAAAAAAAAAA HUNGRYBOX BACK AIRED!

Fake!
Actual 2017 line up for people that at least want to bitch about the real thing
go to bed dad
>ARMS
Pokken never died, so that is a pretty positive outlook.
>Marlel over Injustice 2
Nice try cucky!
What a fucking awful lineup
I may watch smash 4. keyword: may. nintendo dropped support for the game fast.
>Rising thunder
Didnt that die???
Its fake
2/9 ain't bad
>ARMS
I don't see that happening. I may be wrong, as I haven't actually played the game, but it seems to me that it's even more casual than Smash 4.
Another year of nintentoddlers degrading Evo once again.
On the contrary I believe it might have a lot more depth and potential to be a more interesting game overall. I haven't played it too much yet, but from the time I've spent with it it definitely seems to have a lot more "esports" potential from both perspectives, playing and watching.
>Another year of capcbros degrading Evo once again.
Fixed your typo lad no need to thank me
Watching Tekken, airdashers and KoF there. Might check out how mahvel's going to do in its final year.
We all know where the real show is desu
>Arms before Melee
ARMS is further away from being a fighting game than Shrek Super Spam.
Arms is not going to be at EVO.
>GameCube humping melee fag who doesn't own a switch and has never played Arms
Ok bud. Both games are really great in their own way, and they both have fgc appeal
>no melee
If you think Melee will be dead by 2018, I've got bad news for you.
>I love melee to death
I hear you, my man.
>Pokken
>Smash Wii U
I doubt Nintendo's gonna pay them in another year. Both will be replaced by ARMS instead.
Can't wait for FighterZ though, that shit is built for EVO greatness although Capcom will probably relegate it to Saturday grand fnals so it doesn't overshadow Infinite.
Catherine is legit the hypest shit every year.
Neither are very good, but I'll take cap bros over smelly and stinky Nintendo players anyday.
ARMS is extremely boring to watch and coming from the testpunch also extremely boring to play.
I find it really addicting and fun personally. What don't you like about it? Just generally or is there something specific about it
Most of the matches I've seen and played boils down to spam dash and shield. Some people may like extremely defensive games but I'm not one of them.
The only super defensive matches I've played were against master mummy, otherwise they've been pretty offensive. I hope the meta favors being really aggressive; games where you have to be defensive to win like ssb4 are definitely no fun
With skill Arms becomes significantly better to watch.
Even as someone who enjoys Arms, it's a very defensively oriented game. Just because you aren't holding your guard up doesn't mean you aren't being defensive. Playing well involves making sure you are never in an unsafe position, which is easy to do because mobility is high and arms can only curve so much, and the opponent can only throw out a certain measure of aggression before they've left themselves too open. It's a non-stop game of neutral because you can't do much off of a connected hit unless you've got your rush or you're on a specific stage. Playing well against a good player in Arms usually involves the clock running out. Evasive options are just too strong and there isn't enough incentive to take risks.
I'd like it if they could fix this with balance adjustments, but I think it's probably too deeply rooted to be solved like that. I hope it's something they take into consideration if they make a sequel.
Yabuki's little combo there is incredibly situational. You need to be on the right stage, You need to have your rush, and you can't actually control which direction you throw a person. You can see in the gameplay that it's all about throwing out one arm at a time and dodging whatever comes at you. This looked impressive because it was someone much better at the game fighting someone without much familiarity. Two Yabuki's fighting one another would probably land a scarce few hits on one another, and impressive things wouldn't happen because they'd both be too smart to let the other person do it.
Watch more of the video, he keeps skillfully dodging rush attacks and cockblocking Zerg, with high level play it still has potential to be great to watch.
Nintendo really need to take their games, money and support and make their own official tournaments
>Smash
>Pokken
>Splatoon 2
>ARMS
>and impressive things wouldn't happen because they'd both be too smart to let the other person do it.
That has not been the case for any competitive game/sport ever
>This looked impressive because it was someone much better at the game fighting someone without much familiarity
Which is different than in most games
They kind of do but I'd love to see them put them out annually, the Nintendo World Champiionship apart from faggy e-celebs was legitimately the most fun I'd had watching a gaming related competition
>evo
>ever removing melee
LMAO
competitive brawl
>Nintendo
>supporting their games
FUCKIN LOL!!!!!!!1!!!
Replace Pokken with melee and Rising Thunder with Injustice 2 and it's accurate. And a much better roster than this year.
does smash 4 even get the viewership to be invited back?
>Nintendo Vs basically confirms they have a budget for competitive play
>FUCKIN LOL!!!!!!!1!!!
God damn, I'd love if the Nintendo World Championship became a real thing.
I watched it live, user. Skillful dodging only goes so far. Like I said, against someone of the same caliber, both players would be dodging rushes and nobody would get anywhere. Or worse, both players would keep themselves in situation in which the other person can't use their rush safely, and the person with the rush knows this, so they don't use it because there's no opening, and nothing happens. That tension can only build for so long so many times before people realize that's always going to be how it happens and the move might not even come out.
Obviously the games are played by people, so people will make mistakes and more things can happen than literally nothing, but it doesn't inspire a lot of hope in the competitive future of the game. Which is fine, by the way. Arms is fun on a casual and pseudo-competitive level because it's easy to enjoy matches where you weave in and out of punches. I've had a bunch of Spring Man vs. Ribbon Girl fights that were very fun and thrilling even though the win was decided by time out. But people can only watch that for so long, and there isn't a lot of depth to it.
Because in other games there are ways to confirm into things and incentives for taking risks, as well as fewer ways to avoid attacks because they're, with fighting games at least, usually 2D. Even a lot of 3D fighters have less freedom of movement than in Arms. Arms has ways to attack while keeping yourself completely safe and you don't get anything for doing things that leave you more open. Off the top of my head, I think they should rework how you charge your arms in a sequel, because as good as holding a side dash to power up feels, tying offense to being defensive like that only exacerbates the issue.
It does better than everything except sf5 and melee all year round for the most part, despite being painfully boring. It annoys me that the fgc doesn't support legit good games like tekken and GG yet slurps up whatever capcom shits out. Watching people shill for MvCI was disgusting
The same people who shit on KoF XIV for bad graphics now defend Infinite saying graphics don't matter, only gameplay.
Not me though, I shit on both for having bad graphics :)
When was the last good EVO? 2012?
KOF is at Evo.
Last good EVO was Nevr.
2014 was good
2015 had some great moments.
>despite being painfully boring
Smash fans are weird.
I might watch Tekken.
I don't know how people watch anime shit like GG and MvC, shit gives me a headache.
>puyo puyo tetris
yeah because melee is gonna pull those same numbers again this yeah
oh wait no it isn't cause it's not on the final day and smash 4 is, boy i can't wait to see how that plays out
