Is that Haseo's new form?
>be me
>religiously play specifically .hack infection as a kid, none of the other ones
>current time
>hear .hack//gu is getting remastered
>get sad because i want to beat the original 4 before playing //gu
>have a mac so i cant emulate the original 4
>get even sadder because i find out theres even more besides the main 7 games, like psp spinoffs and animes that contribute to the overall story
fuck
and inb4 "just watch playthroughs on youtube", i am one of those autists who has to play the game, cant settle with watching a playthrough
same user
>even sadder because i am seeing what //gu looks like for the first time and it looks amazing
Steam release is also announced at the end of the PV and on the website. I'm kinda sad about that since I was hoping for a physical special edition for PC.
The new Haseo outfit looks nice, but it also seems like a step back from X-th form, it's too edgy.
y did u buy a mac tho
and how is it autistic to want to play. wouldn't it be autistic to watch instead
>cc2.co.jp
An online novel about Kite has also been released, and for the first time we get a glimpse of Kite's player.
So does this count as one of the eight games?
They better revealed his real name
The PSP games are absolute garbage. All I can think of when I see what they did with pic related in //link is that episode of spongebob where squidward has that gigantic barbed Q.
versus is okay but it's just a shit versus game, nothing you're missing out on.
The fuck was that last bit?
CAPTAIN HASEO
Haseo's getting new form or something.
Looks like he's getting access to Blademaster weapons
oh, excuse me. Blade Brandier.
Fucking stupid name
I FUCKING CALLED IT
Knowing what the ps2 cutscenes look like, i'm pretty hype. Really liked the story of the 3 games as a whole, but Vol.1 Haseo is a pretentious cunt.
Haseo goes from white to black again
...
The PS2 graphics were insane for the console. You could tell the devs were on fucking point.
I'm hoping they're just as good this time around.
Considering this game's status as a Remaster 2 generations later, and with all 3 games being shoved into 1, it's possible that this will get inserted somewhere in the middle before Xth form
inb4 it's a dlc
>RL Kite isn't a sassy fat balck woman
Dropped
They were good, but these look 60FPS and new animations, especially the forced logout they showed at the beginning of disk 2.
Man I just want first-person mode back. That shit was great in IMOQ.
The original release's assets were STUPID high quality. Just throw it into an emulator and up the resolution, game is fucking gorgeous
Got any screenshots?
...
Looks like the kid from Heroman, but a bit spikier
NONONONONO
This is my monkey's paw moment anons, I've wished for this for far too long, I'm scared, they're going to pull a conker on this or fucking .hack//nuts&bolts.
Been forever, so no, sorry.
Replaying the games again in preparation for GU remaster
Right now at Theta Quiet Eternal White Devil
Not him, but someone uploaded some screenshots in an older thread. I only saved this edit of one unfortunately
it's a fucking remaster. There's no interest in making a new one, the series is definitely too dead for that.
These games were complete boring shit, I dont know how people can have nostalgia boner for ths
The remaster is looking pretty great and the changes they've made to the gameplay are actual good ones.
You couldn't be more incorrect sir.
Jesus, they had models like that that on a PSfucking2? Aside from the clipping, that looks PS4 quality.
Show me any sort of interest in making a new .hack game. As in, proof of them saying "yes we're pursuing it/actively considering it". versus was an enormous failure commercially.
Yeah but you only saw them once or twice per game. Then you had these models interacting with the polygonal as fuck Shopkeeper NPC's (Though it feels kind of intentionally creepy)
They stated in one of the interviews that they're working on more .hack projects actually. Chances are that the G.U remaster is made to revitalize interest in the franchise, and apparently is serving as a reboot.
>rpgsite.net
>Uchiyama: By letting our customers (read: players) at that time [of the original PS2 releases] to remember once more with this game, and by also letting the current customers know about .hack, we want to plan for the next expansion. That’s why we’re thinking to heighten the presence of .hack series once more with this game.
>Famitsu: By the way, to match with the commemoration of the 15th anniversary, are there any projects in motion other than this game?
>Matsuyama: They’re in motion at our company’s side (CyberConnect2). We are making a number of projects. After that, it’s up to this boss (referring to Uchiyama) on whether he would stamp the seal or not.
.hack projects like games? Cause they're still shitting out awful LNs and manga and the occasional series. I haven't heard of a game since they made that mobile abortion they had to re-brand because the lack of interest in the .hack brand
That just seems like more .hack multimedia entries, not necessarily games. I don't know man I would figure they would try to make more games in the last decade if they were actually worth making. But they haven't been here.
>Use GU
>Not the original games where you could just use the HD models outside of cutscenes and it would look great.
Except Lios. he can just stay 64 grafix
siliconera.com
>2017 is the 15th anniversary since the release of .hack, and 10 years since the conclusion of G.U., and it also happens to be the year G.U. takes place. That said, it was decided that this year must be one for a reboot.
>The reason they’re going with a remaster instead of a brand new title is because it’s been a while but more importantly to introduce a younger generation of fans to the .hack series.
Forgot to mention, the confuse magic is very annoying
Mimics are my most hated enemies right now because of confuse
That's also explained in the interview:
>.hack// had a protagonist that was caught up [in a plot], and I think it was to be played with a sense that “Kite = Yourself” (as in Kite is really the player’s own character). That’s why the frontage was also wide.
>But in the next series G.U., we wanted to make it a title where fans would get deeply attached to the protagonist and other characters, so we made it with high heat like a shonen manga. It didn’t sell as much as .hack//, but the fans’ enthusiasm towards the characters and storyline is the highest in the series. That’s why if we are to do a reboot from among the series, G.U. ought to be the most suitable.
>Furthermore, there are also some parts in G.U. that we wanted to do but still haven’t yet. Since we also wanted to put those into shape, we decided on it.
It was also probably easier to remaster, and the battle system is easier to get into.
The battle system in G.U. was fantastic for .hack
Pretty OK by other series' standards.
They understand
I remember being really into .Hack when it was new, I played all 4 of the originals and watched the anime. However, for some reason I can't remember jack shit about it. Something about computer viruses and comas.
Yes, good goyim, the comas are caused by computer viruses and are certainly not the fault of our software.
the dev was a huge cocksnuggler and developed a headset that sent people into a coma.
then sword art online shamelessly ripped it off, accompanying it with shit porn and 2 years worth of glopping semen
It should be before xth form considering it would be dumb to go from a completely unique weapon type to the most common weapon type among party members.
>going back to wearing black
NO HASEO NO
And dear god, with that outfit we will drown in Kirito jokes
It might have been a very original concept at the time, but honestly it was something bound to come up in media regardless. SAO was bad but it didn't exactly rip off .hack. With the growht in popularity of MMOs, I'm sure many have thought of "what if everyone got stuck inside the game" or "what if you died in the game and then died in real life" without ever having heard of .hack.
I'm just seriously hoping they leave the lore as is since it's already pretty advanced, I agree the gameplay has much space to improve, reading most of these articles is actually giving me hope, the monkey paw won't work this time.
Some guy wanted to meet his waifu, create god and pay the bills at his dead end game programmer job. So he did all three At the same time
>looks fucking fantastic
>they still decided not to show it off at E3
I agree, there were bound to be similar concepts.
Something copying it down to the VR headset, the players going into a coma and being stuck in the game even if they take off the headset, the endboss being the key to ending the curse, the developer-made AI daughter being capable of total annihilation and encryption/decryption of elements throughout the game, and lastly, of course, who could forget, the real world crossover connotations.
SAO directly, deliberately, and shamelessly ripped off .hack in many many ways.
I wonder if this means that Blade Brandier will get an overhaul simmilar to Twin Blades and Edge Punisher did. Maybe Flick Reaper and Dual gunner will as well.
I really didn't think about that at all. It was pretty long ago since I watched SAO since I only watched the first season when it aired.
Monster Hunter Worlds, and Shadow of the Colossus were already too much Japanese games for Sony
Now that you mention it. It does look similar to Kirito...
I know Sony tricked us into paying attention, but if you want the weeb games, watch PSX instead
I can't shake the image of Haseo as a pirate in that outfit for some reason. He would fit right in as a Sky Pirate or something in Final Fantasy, all he needs is a moustache and an eyepatch.
Yeah I went back and watched it recently with a girl who wanted to watch it after I read epitaph of twilight to her and noticed just how much of a fucking knockoff it is. It's pretty god damned blatant. The only thing it's missing is the superior friend, but in a sense, Kirito is just orca, balmung, and kite all in one, which is gay for a variety of reasons that aren't worth sperging out over here.
But trust me, yes, SAO ripped off .hack pretty fucking blatantly. I don't say that lightly either, but it's far past just inspiration.
Clearly the biggest and best feature they could implement would be character customization
HATS will make this game sell millions
Hakuru Kaito
They probably won't add character customization since the entire reason they chose Haseo is that he's a character rather than player stand-in, but I can see them adding accessories and stuff.
Wasn't SAO also originally from 2002 though? Or did the story change much from the webnovel to the light novel?
Considering the hair it would be weird if it came before 3rd form, on the other if they make this come after Xth then it'll just feel like a downgrade due to how dark and edgy it looks
I hope they change some of the character classes. The original GU had seven sword users. They could spread the love over to Piros, Zelkova, Yata, and Kuhn's classes. They didn't have extra people using those. Maybe let Matsu use his swords with his guns too.
It was a short story without any of the key similarities, it was just about a guy trapped in a game after a contest granted him entry I think. It was pretty unrefined.
And more importantly, his entry wasn't put in when he said it was for the dengeki novel prize, (well, he said he didn't put it in, but the contest was entries from january to march of 2002), and he only put it up in like may/june of 2002 as a webnovel, almost 2 months after sign had begun airing. Meaning even if he put up the entire thing then (he didn't, he expanded upon it over time, and put up several chapters till it was a relatively complete story throughout 2002) there's entirely good reason to believe he copied from //sign.
Accel world which he wrote in 2006 for dengeki novel prize competition (which won by the way) is a much better series and shows off what good inspiration can do. Just compare the two and it's like they're from two entirely different people. SAO is just a straight up fucking knockoff of .hack, some cheapass chinese bootleg shit.
2008 for accel world, not 06 my mistake.
They get interest in the multimedia entries, those take off, and then they return to the games. It's a three step plan. Remaster > Anime > New Game.
Then they repeat with other parts of the franchise. And by the time they're done with that cycle, they can 'remaster' or expand on, the previous new game.
And we have ZERO Edge Punisher at the end of vol. 3. That's why I wanted them to add some Edge Punisher to the party (Gabi, Midori etc. Maybe also add Asta as permanent bonus non-canon party member or something).
They've always understood. We just never knew.
you're a fucking noob
It's beautiful.
Haseo is Sora, I'm Sora.
Hi!
I'm not seeing all the manga and novels there
Considering the outfit it's probably between 2nd and 3rd form. 3rd form to xth form is too important since it shows Haseo Growing Up from being an edge lord. It couldn't be obtained after xth form since it would minimalize the importance of that form.
Is it time to play "who has the bigger .hack dick" now? let me get all my shit together.
I'd just be happy if they made some of the current Blade Brandiers Edge Punishers instead. Like Atares and Silabus.
>bought I and M
>never could find O or Q for purchase
>stores wouldn't let me preorder them since I live in bumfuck nowhere
I never got to try GU either cause of that. It was just never in stock.
Since you can summon both Saku or Bo now they should at least give bitchtits a unique weapon.
so how are they going to justify Haseo going over the Adept Rogue point limit prior to shota-helba hacking his character data?
or are they gonna raise the point limit by one so that the other adept rogues can get a third weapon?
He cheats himself an extra point, I wouldn't put it past Haseo
I'm guessing the latter if they do decide to make it the 3rd form.
1/3
2/3
The CONTAGION box is partially cut off at the top
I want Aina and Ovan as party members. Aina is pretty involved in things after Vol.2, and has an uncommon class. Ovan you would get pretty late, but at least you could use him in post-clear content, and he's a Steam Gunner.
3/3
Not Pictured:
>inside the big ROOTS box has all 6 DVDs of ROOTS
>3 promo ENEMY cards
>all 4 Liminality disks from IMOQ
>comments are disabled
y tho?
>it's silabus
Greatest plot twist in universe
ROOTS was legitimately enjoyable
AIDA is enough webcancer as it is
>Ovan becomes playable
>absolutely no one ever uses Kuhn ever again except for completion purposes
I wonder if this means that they'll finally release that fucking Skeith and Haseo figure.
That's pretty damn impressive, good job user.
>There are people here that hate Tabby because they didn't understand she's typical gurll gamer
You have the demo disc!?
Anyway, great collection, user.
I hate Tabby because she was the most annoying thing in Roots ever. Intentionally annoying does not make her less annoying, especially when they waste half the show following her when she's doing literally nothing instead of actually progressing the plot.
