>game
>literally early concept with just CGI video
>no game exist
kekies
Concept looks a little generic. I've never been a fan of the whole sci-fi pirate thing, to which other games have done it better conceptually than what they showed in the trailer. More importantly, if that's supposed to give us a feel for the humor/characterization they'll be going for, then I have little interest. The monkey is outright obnoxious, while the human chick was given maybe one full sentence of dialogue.
Either way, isn't the game just starting development? Like, they really only have the idea for the game? And it's a prequel, so any plot people wanted continued from the first game won't be touched upon. Honestly, I can't say I'm interested in the concept and the fact that it's not even started development really means I won't be able to care for years, if it doesn't get cancelled.
Some people are hyped because they trust Ancel, he has never failed so far and saved Rayman from cancer rabbids.
I'm not even mad that this is a prequel, i'm more mad that it seems to fell into the open-world meme and Ubi triple A game format. Expect shitton of space Ubisoft towers and map markers with bland gameplay.
this
monkey was annoying and the trailer doesn't seem to fit the tone of the original
meant to say this... whoops
Cinematic trailers aren't games though.
don't mind me just dropping some fucking info
>game
where?
I'm just happy it's actually happening. I trust Ancel to make a good game. Also gimmie that music
>gameplay video is going up today or tomorrow
>no game exists
umm...
Is it even going to be made?
It wouldn't be the first time a teaser about it was released
Rememeber this? youtube.com
also this youtube.com
overall I'm not feeling it, the teaser was devoid of any charm being a prequel is just a big FUCK YOu to people who waited over 10 years to know what happens to Pey'j and I'm not sure if this will suffer of ubisoft open world formula. I trust Ancel but I don't trust Ubisoft to avoid meddling and ruining everything.
This is a big project, this ain't no 2D platformer.
sure thing
Doesn't look like BGE
They fucked up the atmosphere and characters seem to be written by old guys trying to be hip
What I hate about this shit is that none of this info may actually be relevant to the finished product. Games go through constant changes, revisions, cuts, and even complete story/gameplay overhauls. They do it multiple times throughout development and shift as time passes. That's why I hate the idea of throwing a cinematic trailer out as a concept, because what we actually play (if it's not outright delayed into oblivion) may have nothing to do with what we see/are promised.
It's nice they have all these concepts developed and thought through, but by the end of a multi-year development cycle we could see none of it play out. I can't think of many games that start and finish in the same way. Dropping a cinematic trailer that promises certain ideas anc characters just sets people up for something they won't likely get.
uhh, looks like shit.
The tone is completely different than the original and the charaters are completely unlikeable. It's basically Jak II all over again.
I think this game needs some good old fashioned P R O P A G A N D A
I didn't see the trailer, but I've heard the words "multiplayer" and "procedurally generated" so I have no reason to watch it.
/thread
Doesn't seem to have the same heart and soul of the original.
...
from what i've heard, it's more like optional co-op but yes any procedural generation is a red flag to me, it only works well for 2D games like Terraria and Spelunky
procedural generation is limited to 1 solar system and the multiplayer only goes up to 15 players.
>"procedurally generated"
You are fucking kidding
I think it'll be canned and never come out, from what I hear development has barely even started and with the Vivendi shit coming up they'll be on the chopping block. So no point in getting happy or angry at the game since it's pretty much dead already.
>game
What fucking game? They made a CGI trailer for a thing that just started development. All they have is a fucking engine prototype and some assets. It's fucking Cyberpunk 2077 all over again. See you in 4~7 years
I'm not here to have an argument, but I've also heard things resembling "open world" which, like either of the previous two, is enough to put me off on its own.
I thought the first game was lighthearted and whimsical? Did they just make it fucking edgy because that's what kids want now? I'm fucking pissed. Why can't I get a game that isn't trying to be edgy?
BGE1 was open world though...
My thoughts are that if it looks like it'll be worth playing when it releases I'll play it. Until then I ain't worrying about it.
>Open world
>Invisible and Visible walls everywhere
...
I'm replaying BG&E1 since it's been fucking forever and i don't remember shit. It sure as hell isn't open world
Modern day Ubisoft has a whole new connotation to "open world", yeah.
Will this suffer of the AssCreed formula? If yes I'm fucking out. I can't even watch gameplay of AssCreed 8353523523 and Far Cry 2392396236 without nearly slipping into a coma.
It's true that BGE had some open world elements, and many linear sections, but we don't know exactly how will the open world be.
Some people point to Rayman Origins and Legends but this project is much bigger than that, and with bigger projects and more money involved, Ubisoft's influence will not be the same compared to a budget, 2D title.
Rayman Origins almost didn't happen, it was almost like a tech demo for the Ancel & Co developed UbiArt engine.
Remember that Michel Ancel is a fucking diva and he does what he wants at Ubisoft
>Rayman Origins almost didn't happen, it was almost like a tech demo for the Ancel & Co developed UbiArt engine.
And then UbiArt was used for a bunch of other games, all well-recieved
It's going to take a big ol' shit on your childhood.
Open world done right you mean?
You start and are able to move only in small area and unlock more and more parts of the map and ways to travel as the story progresses instead shitty map markers and Ubi towers.
Gothic 2.
So can I only be a goody two shoes in this game or can I be an opportunistic amoral bastard?
It's semi-open world due to PS2 shit tier tech.
Ancel always said he wanted to make BGE 2 open world with multiple planets but couldn't because of consoles at the time.
>Modern day Ubisoft has a whole new connotation to "open world", yeah.
Ubisoft Montpellier has nothing to do with Ubisoft Montreal.
And Michel Ancel is the guy who the most freedom and trust do to what he wants at Ubisoft.
If the companyu has grown this much, it's also because of the success of Rayman back in the 90's.
Vivendi would fuck everything up tho.
the game is barely in development.
the trailer they showed no gameplay because there is none to show. there is no game. hopefully they'll scrap it before their idiotic ideas for this prequel ever turn into anything. nobody wants bge2 to be "gta in space" like the dev is describing their vision.
it's like you all forgot the last two times they released a trailer for this game. years of silence, some teaser that shows nothing and reveals nothing, then years of silence again. it's never coming out and frankly if this is what they're doing with the series, i'm fine with that.
Almost literally everything about this reveal has been a massive disappointed. A prequel? Multiplayer? Gameplay is nothing like the original? All that cursing? Those characters? If they can make it not awful despite all of this (and more) I'll be damned.
The first game is light hearted and whimsical. You spend half the game photographing bugs and shit to make money. First game is similar to R&C 1 in atmosphere.
And I think Ancel was saved from himself when he couldn't make it open world.
>discrimination against hybrids
Oh so it's going to be one of those.
>online elements are compared to Destiny
>flying sections are like Star Fox
I don't know, this sounds overambitious to me, along with possibly garbage.
Maybe.
Maybe but that's the project of his life so I'm sure it's will be at least decent open world if it ever release.
Also his team has top tier engineers, UbiArt was very impressive.
I know it sounds like a meme but I like developers who try to make the industry evolve instead of releasing good but risk-free games.
this honestly seems like they are being way too ambitious, I understand that there has to be a vast amount of shit in a space type game but most of the time they just end up relying on randomly generated assets and procedural generation. people want a sequel to BGE with beloved characters not fucking gta in space with zero loading between "planets"
>discrimination against hybrids
How is that problematic?
>he does what he wants
lol is that why he wanted to make BGE2 for 15 years and couldn't? Of course he has bosses he has to report to, yea he said he needed better technology in order to make BGE2 it, it's called making excuses for his bosses not wanting a sequel due to how the original sold poorly.
Stop making excuses for Ubisoft, who milked Rayman with the shitty rabids games for a long time and is back to milk some more of that fucking trash. Ancel has always said he wanted to make a sequel to BGE, it was intended to be a trilogy, why couldn't he do it? Because the original sold like crap. Montpellier has still to report to Ubisoft. He also wanted to make a new 3D Rayman, there's concept art around of a 3D world that looked a lot like the worlds of Rayman 1, and he was denied.
Yeah let's blame Vivendi for all the franchises of Ubisoft being fucking garbage as well, save face as much as they can right?
Michel Ancel is based, fuck you Sup Forums.
shitty racism parallels/cultural marxist agenda shoved down the players' throats
>Why can't I get a game that isn't trying to be edgy?
Because when a game like that is made, you get the Ratchet and Clank 2016 remake that has absolutely NO edge and therefore no appeal whatsoever.
You just can't win.
Sup Forums you need to leave
You're retarded.
Slavery has been a thing since 2000 years and it has nothing to do with racism.
You must be 18 or something.
As for BGE1, it was already very political and anti-Irak war with all the propaganda layer.
I never said UbiArt is bad though, i'm sauing Rayman Origins was like a quick side project, so it wouldn't have as much publisher overhead compared to a fully fledged big production such as Beyond Good & Evil 2. The latter is a big project, you'll need shitloads of voice acting, 3D modeling animations, lots of planets and locals and so on. Both Origins and Legends were very small, humble games in comparison to the scope of a game like BGE2.
Maybe even BGE1 costed more to be made than Rayman Origins, it's not really a baseline to say "hey Ancel will have full control over everything people, don't worry!"
No.
Aaaand it was fucking excellent and the fastest selling R&C game
No, you do. If you are really ok with this shit you don't belong here.
I don't want to play as a black man that steals stuff, shoots at the police and steals flying cars which his pet female monkey.
Also zero gameplay.
Where was the anti-Iraq war message? All I got was that they were smuggling people off the planet for slave labour.
>I don't want to play as a black man that steals stuff, shoots at the police and steals flying cars which his pet female monkey.
They're not the MC.
I agree, tell this to the writers of Montpellier shoving this left wing cancer into BGE2.
>discrimination has nothing to do with racism
Are you retarded?
I've already seen how this shit works with the Mankind Divided wonky parallels to racism. Hybrids are gonna be the new refugees and all that. Just no, thank you very much.
>I don't want to play as a black man that steals stuff
there's going to be a character creator so you can be a white man that steals stuff :^)
It was related to the pro-Irak war propaganda from the medias back in 2001/2002. And France was very anti-Irak war at the time.
Michel Ancel said so himself.
According to the plot, hybrids were created by China and India after they became galactic corporations and used them as slaves on harsh planets where they could survive.
their mistake was making them sentient
>games with no edge don't sell
bull fucking shit
Nintendo has an entire business built around lighthearted games.
Minecraft is lighthearted and is a phenom of sales worldwide.
While they're uncommon compared to the CoDs and GTAs of the world, you can still make money with them. Maybe even market it as a grand adventure, which is something most games today are lacking, which BG&E1 delivered in spades.
The trailer made it seem like a different game just set in the same universe. I am minimally hyped for the ""GTA Clone"" aspect because most of the clones are better imo.
I'm really happy. That being said, one of the main reasons people wanted a BG&E2 is because the first game ended on a FUCKING CLIFFHANGER.
Also them confirming gameplay aspects from the first game doesn't reassure me in the slightest, because you could totally make an Assassin's Creed-esque generic open world game with all of that stuff.
Also also if Vivendi really gets its hands on Ubisoft the game might be doomed.
Basically it's like the FFVII remake. It's shocking that it's actually happening, but I don't trust Square Enix (or Ubisoft) to satisfyingly deliver.
About diversity/feminism, here is what Ancel said:
>There'll be a real parity in the game. Sexy women, not so sexy women, sexy men, not so sexy men, sexy pigs, not so sexy pigs.
source? I really want to believe that he said this
>sexy pigs
sign me up boys
nice
>planned trilogy
>the game is, best case scenario, 10% complete
>the first game flopped so hard that almost nobody played it when it came out
Seems legit
>sexy pigs
>you can explore planets together
stopped reading right there, it's going to be, what, 4 planets maybe?
>""""explore""""" ""planets""
fucking faggots
>reddit humor that reminds me of these movies with little kids that act like they're cool but it's just incredibly cringy
>prequel to a game that ended with a cliffhanger
>MULTIETHNIC AND MULTICULTURAL
>MULTIETHNIC AND MULTICULTURAL
I sure do love video games and HATE dumfy drolpmf, you can expect me to pre-order Beyond Good and Evil 2™.
Ancel's view of feminism is not too retarded.
Here is what he said about Jade:
>Yeah. When we started the project the first thing we said was, If this project is different it’s because it’s a female character who is driving the story. She’s not like other characters who look like women but act like men. I’m not saying women don’t shoot guns or defend themselves; it’s just that most women in games are clichés. They are just one vision of the woman. We wanted to create this character and respect her. We said, This is our character. This is how she is. We are not going to modify her with our male fantasies. We tried as much as possible to make Jade her own entity and her own personality. It was one of the challenges of development.
BGE has always been multiethnic and multicultural, half of the people were animals
this shit is going to get canned just like the last ancel game
and that game was almost done, this shit is just a trailer
Most of the Sup Forums faggots are underage who never played the first game
Which game are you talking about?
It's the problem that she had to point it out, like >Look at how progressive we are
Maybe Wild? I don't know if it was cancelled though.
>What a game that featured a nonwhite female protagonist is doing it again
>OUTRAGEOUS
I can't wait until inherently sociopathic autistic white males become extinct
It's not canceled.
but jade is white
>I have to find an issue where there is none
Maybe in Argentina
The french pulled off having sexy pandas, I believe they can do such a thing.
Don't see any reason to be excited. It looked nothing like BG&E1, it's a prequel when the reason why everyone was so hung up on never getting a BG&E sequel was because of the cliffhanger tease at the end of the first one, the gratuitous swearing was poorly done and made the characters seem more retarded than endearing, wacky, gritty, or whatever the fuck they were going for, development for the game hasn't even started yet, AND they're aiming for No Man's Sky's stupid gameplay promises at the same time. And it's not like we haven't gotten a BG&E2 trailer at E3 before, either. That led to nothing, and with no actual progress made on the game thus far why should I expect this one to actually produce anything? Plus, it's fucking Ubisoft.
The people that are so vocal about their excitement for this game seem like a bunch of bandwagoning hipster faggots that are only getting behind it because they know BG&E was a cult hit and they want to be trendy.
>I have to make an important point about something that's minor and that everyone knows
Basically.
I enjoyed the first and i'll enjoy this one.
I don't even care if it's a prequal.
I think everyone should wait until some actual gameplay before bashing it.
Oh also Jade wasn't white either.
I don't remember associating the Alpha Sector with the United States, it was just an evil empire thing, while burgerclaps live in a place that isn't a dictatorship.
It was pretty much the quasi Empire from Star Wars. I guess people who are left of center can say the USA is just like the Empire, but that view doesn't match the reality.
BGE is my favorite game but I don't give a shit about the story or Jade or Pey'j.
I loved the world and from the trailer, the world still seem very interesting and original so I'm excited fuck you.
Just compare it with the bland art direction of Anthem.
Just because you think she "made an important point" of it doesn't mean she did.
That's isn't his view of feminism, it's his view on female characters/protagonists.
he's right to do Jade as they did though, she's like a real human being, and not some broad that does backflips and wipes out and entire SEAL team. She's very feminine, the whole taking care of orphaned kids is a quite feminine thing to it, motherly aspect.
aftercredits tease ≠ cliffhanger
