The gameplay is dope, but christ was this game a shitshow on the story and characters we've groin to love.

The only solace I got was seeing Heihachi just set up show and take over, only to somehow lose to not-devil kazuya, which saddens me.

king is still really good. i believe it's only the regular grabs that have been nerfed (as in you can press either 1 or 2 to break) anyway. command grabs still need to be broken as per normal

Like the other user said most of his grabs are command grabs and they need to be broken with 1+2 and until higher level most people won't know how to break it. Plus he hits like a truck.

well, i don't think people being able to break throws affects how he will play too much anyway

he just needs to learn to mix up his throws and not keep using the ones that are all broken with the same button or something. people aren't robots and can't break throws with 100% consistency, even at super high level

If you're playing a grab heavy character it all depends on how the opponent reacts to it. There's really no way to play around it other than hoping they don't break it 100% of the time.

Nobody has 100% throw break rate. And if you succeed in getting the first throw, the followup is a 50/50 or even 33/33/33

Knowing when to throw, knowing when to act like you're about to throw but not throwing, knowing which ones to use (which has been said already) -- all of these are important with high level players, but not as important with lower level players, but mixing moves up between throws and regular hits and playing throw mind games should be learned and employed ASAP. Higher level players will be able to read how he reads throw openings and react accordingly. It's definitely not just about "hoping"; there are always ways to play a grab heavy character and still throw your high level opponents off with your grab moves.

Devil Jin and normal Jin have different movesets. Devil has the classic movesets and regular has his "I don't want to be a mishima" moveset

Fucking this, it was his best design.

Paul is easiest character in the game by far, followed by King. Don't play Katarina, you'll just learn bad habits. You can get damage off just mashing 4 all day, but you're not going to learn the game that way.

also, reminder about learning king: you don't actually have to remember all those chain grabs. just do the first input and mash all 4 buttons and it will go through the whole chain automatically.

Remember, I don't know about others, but whenever I see a King player in my matchup, I immediately assume avoidant behaviour (lots of KBD and crouching and trying to maintain my distance) before the match even starts. I'm scared of playing any other way against King. People are afraid of grabs and aren't as used to trading hits with grabbers. Use that to your advantage.

There are no bad habit characters, every single one will hit a strategy brick wall and force you to diversify. You can't keep playing this game without having to learn Tekken.
