Absolver

Will it be shit?

ASK AGAIN LATER

Its neat enough

>he fell for the NDA meme
lol

Looks pretty boring. Like Tekkem but shittier and more boring.

It's literally nothing like tekken

Playing the beta right now it's pretty fun, complaints so far
>Intense motion blur that makes me want to vomit. Only way to turn it off is to turn down post processing which also seems to turn off the sun itself, makes the game very dark
>Lock on is finicky, really hard to lock on to people some reason. Should be a simple press of RB but instead you have to hold it sometimes, changing between multiple opponents is very hard.
>Stance switching is awkward as fuck, at least to begin with while you have a small selection of moves, I find myself creating a setup where I only really make use of my top 2 stances and the other two are useless because I don't have any moves that don't force me into another stance instantly

The lock on used to be like super intuitive and didn't fuck you over in group fights but for some retarded reason they downgraded it

also you should never switch stances, it very much is a punishment for not having a moveset that incorporates everything

>you should never switch stances
Not in the middle of combos, but setting up certain stances to do certain opening moves is a really good way to do mix-ups in PvP.

Is the beta hard to get into or what?
Been looking forward to this and didn't even know there was going to be one.

In the beta. I would say if they have good servers and when we see more areas. I love it a lot. I can see AAA devs copying this open world/multiplayer game type in the future. Also making your own style and combos, especially when you learn new moves. Shows a crazy amount of player expression. I hope this game goes well.

everyone is in the beta that tried to get in

Last day to sign up was last Friday and I'm pretty sure they gave a key out to everyone that signed up.

No idea how I missed that, kinda mad desu

its actually for honor with fists
>online focused
year RIP

Yeah I really dig how freeform the combat is, it goes beyond just dressing up your character and going "yeah this can represent me" into shaping the whole combat system into something that exactly you enjoy

it's dark souls with fists

anyone comparing it to for honor took a 0.5 second glance and thought that's sufficient knowledge

The elevator pitch I would give is "Dark Souls meets God Hand." You're exploring open areas and dealing with AI and the occasional player that crosses your path, and you have God Hand's combat customization.

It's like they took all the good things from Dark Souls and For Honor but mostly Souls and added combo customization.

Also it's not really online focused, it's like Dark Souls but instead of summoning it's seamless player world interaction.

It's sorta kinda multiplayer focused

I don't know if the beta represents exactly how it will all pan out in the release, but there was always someone in the area and they were beating up mobs before you get there, so there was always interaction with people whether you wanted it or not.

It gets pretty retarded because for learning sword moves you need to separate off enemies and drop them a shank to train you with, and then you have xXxRetardMcGeexXx come by and kill the NPC you're trying to learn from, thinking he's helping

not true

sorry, what I meant to say was

*everyone who applied will be in by the end of today

The idea is that you explore the open world, and at any time, up to two other players will just randomly show up in your world. They're not like red phantoms or white phantoms; they're just other players whom you can interact with however you want. You can leave them alone, you can team up with them to clear an area, or you can kick them in the head and get in a fight.

There's also dedicated 1v1 and 3v3 arenas you can queue at from any altar (read: bonfire).

I getcha, but the fact that there usually is two players really fucks with the experience gain as at least the 3 beta areas were really small and so before you started kicking everyone's shit in half the NPCs are gone

I do hope there's a way to limit or turn off the seamless multiplayer so I can at least consistently fight bosses alone, sucks to remove the fun of it by having two people repeatedly axe kick the boss to death

>multiplayer
When will people drop this shitty meme?

...

>I have no friends

it's closer to dark souls with fists
it's not a fighting game

I love the Kingdom Hearts-esque weapon system in this game. Pulling shit out of the aether as always been a fetish of mine.

I's a shittier version of For Honor with clunkier combat. So yes.

When it stops being a better source of income for companies
good way of avoiding your weapon from clipping all over the place on your characters back

>Like Tekkem
There is no high/low attacks, blocks, or movement speed.
Half the reason Tekken is Tekken, is that the speed and precision is extreme.

Are you referring to tekken or absolver in that statement

cus absolver has all of those

it has nothing in comon with for honor
i've played both beta

I've played both and it really is.

Where do you think you are

Is there a way to get this game to work with a ps2 controller on PC?

Probably pretty easily using a 3rd party keybinder, doubt it supports it immediately

I was just wondering because I tried asking it run using x360ce and it would work. it would recognize the emulator because controller buttons would show up when the game booted through steam but then the game wouldn't respond to any button presses.

like what then ?
dont be shy

Either you don't know how to play For Honor or you don't know how to play this.

I think the way everyone seems to be rebinding their shit is through steam big picture mode

overgrowth meet dark souls

meets god hand meets knuckles

Overgrowth/Lugaru doesn't have a build-a-combo system.

Doesn't look remotely like Overgrowth

It's rather physicy in an overgrowth sort of way

The way corpses behave when you roundhouse their face is probably the best aspect of this game, feels so fucking good

Is it Free to Play? Looks like it should be.

It's not entirely physics. They have specific death animations if they die to certain attacks and from what direction. Take a jab to the face, and you just crumple on the spot. Take a knee to the gut, and you're thrown backwards holding your stomach before landing face first.

It will be a B2P title with free updates and DLC. There is no price yet specified (preorders aren't active yet, either), but it will definitely not be less than $20.

either way it tricked me

Hope they get a decent amount of players it looks cool.

YOU ARENT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT THIS

ITS UNDER NDA YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW

Practically everything in the thread is what's already publically available.

DELETE THIS THREAD

My brother downloaded and signed it, not me. Checkmate, Devolver.

I hope it does well, its really fun. Also the impact of your punches sounds nice and meaty. I love it.

>start reving up the heymaker punch
>my opponent becomes confused as the punch takes a year to take off
>starts pressing buttons in a wild attempt at interrupting the inevitable blue doom
>the punch has finally arrived on his left cheek, sending the target backwards about 50 feet and making it do about 5 flips on the way

>sign up for the beta
>get an email telling me i've been accepted
>no key

when did you sign the NDA, takes like a bunch of time afterwards

>it's a player chains his stance combos to be a never ending string of quick lights episode

Bip picture didn't work for me. Thanks, but oh well.

light punches do fuckall for damage, at least

you gotta land 1 hit for every one of their 50

I'd rather just play an actual fighting game.

Better than For Honor?

It's not really aiming for the same kind of progression loop, but sure it's pretty good, and lends itself to a lot more creativity

Reminds of Remember Me's combat.

Nope.

Remember Me had build-a-combo too, but those required specific chains or enders for various benefits like health regen, stun, whatever. Absolver's combat doesn't have those sorts of effects, but it's a bit more freeform.

doesn't take much to be better than that trash

I'm interested enough in this to key an eye on it, but not enough to put money into it yet.

For Honor is a really good game though. It's only real issue is that it heavily leans more toward defensive play and high level matches are just a turtle fest.

Thats a pretty big fuckin complaint for a game that only takes regular people one day to reach "high level play"
