Why is it wrong for Modders to want to get paid for sinking days/weeks/months into making content?
>But muh donations
Lmao literally no one donates shit unless you make porn

Because that doesn't even make them modders, but rather actual developers.
So it's not really modding at all.
it literally just turns it into DLC, you raging autist

If you put that donation button right in the workshop, but Valve does not get a cut, you'll see a massive spike in donations. I guarantee it.
If you want to get paid for working on a game then make your own fucking game or join a development team.
Mods are for hobbyists.
Because the devs can deliberately release nonfunctional games and then earn even more money from the mods to fix it. I don't give money to Toyota for the privilege of fixing my ride.
I believe that modders should be paid, but get 100% of the money.
>Hobbyists shouldn't get paid!
>Thousands of internet artists and musicians get paid
Do the musicians that get paid have the lion's share taken from them by the company that made their instruments/music software? Do the artists have their pay docked by Wacom? It's not a question of me not wanting good modders to get paid it's the fact that Bethesda are using this as a way to make money for doing fucking nothing.
I don't think it's wrong for them to want money.
I just don't want to pay anything. I like free stuff. And if mods get gated behind a paywall I'll stop being able to enjoy them.
It instantly turns modding into a business and as such modding must now be profitable because the creator wants to gain money not lose it.
Lower the cost of creation, increase to selling price and all that and suddenly you're devising ways to work less and earn more. Not because you're an ass but because that's how you run a business.
"work less" for a mod. Think about it.
