Some characters are obviously a good deal stronger than others, but most units are usable if you like them enough to invest in them. Playing with your favorites is the smart way to play.

There are units that are stronger than others but you'll do just fine if you just use characters you like.

There are always better units. In this game, Reinhardt, Hector, Ryoma and Linde, for example, are very goof units that can fit almost every team, but units like Nino, Eirika, Julia or Kagero can find good uses because of their great ability to dish huge damage, support teams or counter common threats.

If you're starting, reroll until you get at least two 5 stars, also have in mind they all have IVs, so use the IV calculator to make sure your units are not being hindered by a bad spread.
