pretty good

looks interesting, what is it about?

Pretty much gave up since I work full time now. I probably never could have done it myself anyway.

You know how you're in that phase where you're coming up with all these interesting concepts and planning but nothing is actually moving anywhere in terms of actual work because of fear/laziness/responsibilities getting in the way? Yeah. I legit wanna start but we keep putting it off. We haven't moved anywhere from basic story outline and concept art in months.

Been making some animations for battles and changing some small stuff here and there
Made the HUD move according to feedback I got back from the demo, so now you know which character you are using

Been thinking about making a city builder where you have to build and manage a town in the old west.

Back to this after finishing Space Hunter. Nearly finished with this new skeleton bastard, it's hard to see but the arcing shots they fire travel through other revenants.

>His game requires concept art and story

You're doing it wrong user, just make a shit comic or something.

working on the forest area. not sure if the trees are too samey

>3d modeling anime girls is a bitch to accomplish right
>want pokegirl breeding adventure too badly to quit
On another note, Blender is quite nice once you get used to a simple workflow.
Maya is still superior.

Oh and I brought back the boomerang from an older version and buffed it

you should rotate the tree model

lmao

10/10 send me the game

and here's the sword tech for the boomerang. Thanks Postal 2

>Paper mario RPG with bugs

Color me intrigued.

that looks super cute, user
i like it

clearly those tree textures look mirrored, which makes it far too samey

I'll tell you more, it's a story-focused point-n-click so story and art are literally everything it has going for it. That and the fact that it's C Y B E R P U N K

me too
i got hired by a studio

too bad I can't post it here or on AGDG for obvious reasons, but my passion project has also fallen derelict beause i have no time

a spooky horror game?
a house with a spooky monster?
NO YOU ARE THE MONSTER NOW PUNCH SOME NIGGAS

nice

yeah it would've been too niche anyway
if you are going for a story focused minigame, you should just make porn

If I was hypothetically making a Soulsborne that takes places in a huge underground city, with no-nonsense, gory monsters, and a constant feeling of loneliness and despair, would you buy it? At what price? (let's say the game would be around 25 hours long)

I'd buy it for thirty bucks because AAA games are way too expensive for me to buy most of the time.

Fine.

depends on the art style.
2D with good artstyle: $15~$20
3D with good artstlye: $15~$40

Eh, I might. I don't mind selling my integrity to make some cash on the side. I actually want it to be 2-3 hours long, main inspirations are Gemini Rue and Primordia.

to be fair, a soulsgame with no invasion mechanic is no soulsgame to me
also an underground city is kind of boring, dark souls had a fucking crystal cave with invisible pathways, a land of lava, ominous forest, a completely dark tombcave, a library prison filled with crystal enemies and an endless ocean filled with enormous trees that reach far past the skies, which you can see from the lava lands and the tomb.

cool concept

become the western JSK and you'll be golden, especially if you shill around here and aco

wouldn't call that an rpg, it's more like pong with planetary explosions
honestly, it'd be a waste of time to make such a thing, only high schoolers would play that type of game and most of them are free.

tbqh looks like a typical planet defense sim, doesn't look like it has anything going for it

it's ultra violent version of zeno clash, you get phone calls and then you visit gangs and kill them with your bare hands
sent :^)

how do i increase my design skills? srsly i've got 0(zero) character design abilities

Trump's Space Wall Simulator 3k17

hire someone

Legit advice - draw, draw, draw. First point - imagine. Do studies of characters you like, then try to re-imagine them. Use all your favorite designs as inspiration for yours. Read books (not movies or comics) and IMAGINE what the characters look like. Try to draw them. Another point: to make interesting designs, you have to build a visual library. Sounds like a bullshit term, but it's true. So take some character designs you like and try to figure out what makes them cool. Note some interesting details about everyday objects, and try to replicate them. Do quick drawings of people when you're able. Focus on getting the "gist" of them quickly, this will make you pay attention to the most important features of a person. This will have a huge impact on your drawings down the line. It will take a ton of time and practice, but you will absolutely be able to make creative designs. To reiterate: imagine, build your visual library, and practice. You don't have to have any talent or abilities to start drawing, it only matters how much imagination, time and effort you put into it. I'm saying this as a person who started out fairly recently with zero talent. Good luck, user.

P.S. For the drawing essentials, I recommend "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain". You'll find it in any bookstore for fairly cheap, and it provides a great head start on all the three aspects I outlined.

I need an idea first. Anyone got one they don't mind me stealing?

looks great

Nice rip off

I never made a video game before, but I want to learn how to make one. What do I do?

glad you like it

got keep those filthy aliens away
yeah but all the planetary defense games are you shoting the ships or the meteors with guns, my idea is you having to reflect the meteors into the ships because your weapons are mostly usuless. other than the black hole one there.
they are more for cleaning upp the screen or helping you deflect the asteroids

Ok, I've got one for ya. It's kind of a Castlevania-style sidescroller with a twist. You play as a team of mercenaries, each with unique abilities, and shoot wave after wave of goons in a cyberpunk city. The twist is that the combat is stop-motion, where in the 1st phase time stops and you (and your enemy) aim your shots and abilities at each other and plan your movements, and the 2nd phase shows the execution of everyone's actions. Could be fun with multiplayer.

>because your weapons are mostly useless
user why, why would you make irrelevant content from the very start

i'm poor fag
what does this do exactly besides picking colors?
thanks for the info, i'll seek your footsteps

So like Frozen Cortex in a Cyberpunk setting with more abilities?

go make a 2d Recettear

They are usuless against the aliens because of the lore.
They are made to take the meteors out if the aliens spawn too many.

>poorfag
>wants to be an artist
>start from 0

dude what the fuck are you doing

As a platformer or just a beat-em-up? Sounds interesting, I'll start designing qt anime girls and monsters.

Yeah. I imagined it would be a lot more vertical, since it would be 2D unlike Frozen Cortex.

>make planetary defence pong game
>prioritize lore>gameplay
wew lad what the fuck are you doing, how about instead of making irrelevant shit make it so that the "proper" weapons deal critical damage and the other weapons still do normal damage

Can i shill my game here or is this thread for dev progress only?

trying, something you don't

Sure, go for it.

how the fuck i going to make a upgrade system if the weapons dont start irrelevant?

i'd put my bets on beat-em-up, mainly because it would be similiar.
But it'd say do whatever you are most comfortable with, as long as you can put in findable treasures on the adventure/dungeon maps

we all know your kickstarter man

So any modellers here? What do you think of the new Zbrush features?

>How's that game coming along, Sup Forums?

It isn't. I have zero relevant skills towards making a game and don't know where to start. Unity tutorials? Learning C++? Shitposting about my ideas until someone steals it and makes a hit game out of it, making me eternally butthurt about another chance I've passed up on?

sure, go ahead and try to insult me.
just take care of your future properly user, don't end up a fucking starving artist like 99% of them.

So Worms+Frozen Cortex? How does a ridiculously edgy plot with some really dumb unrealistic weapons mixed in sound?

>Cordyceps Ant
Nope.jpg
Would rather flee the fight straight away than try to take on those.

That sounds good, I'll need to come up with items and upgrades etc. so this will take a while, how often do these threads usually happen?

just nerf the enemy health so all weapons become viable
hell fucking warframe does it that way so people have a reason to spend money on as many weapons as possible

Sounds like something I'd play. Make everything neon and have a sniper character with an edgy trench coat and a laser sight and you'll have completed my vision.

>really want to make a game
>have 0 (zero) new ideas
>can't program
I have so much free time and i got nothing to do

why nerf the enemy health if you can make other enemies that will be taken down by your weapons?

Like those are the bosses that will only be taken down by your pong skills

Oh no, no kickstarter! My games are free because they are not good enough for money.

selfish-dream.itch.io

A laser sight on the gun or is one of his eyes robotic because it was taken by the man who killed his parents who he is now seeking revenge on?

>first 3 are platformers
I've had that itch lately, I'll try them.

Nigga. You have the entire fucking internet at your hands. There are countless game development guides and tutorials out there, even fucking Unity has one. Stop being a lazy twat and go make your game.

it's unsatisfying when you can't kill every enemy, it makes you feel as if you made the wrong upgrade decisions and makes you consider to just restart from the beginning.
But most people would just quit instead of restarting

wew

Started revamping a bunch of overworld tiles because I was growing unhappy with the current ones.

I also have a small demo ready to release on Saturday.
I also posted the wrong pic.

This game will be so fucking edgy, you have no idea.

>tfw you almost finished writing a game called "Transcendence" with basically the same concept

Well, it's more about one's acceptance of their own mortality, but still.

why are the colors of the new one so washed out, just ends up looking uglier, also while the new mountains looks better, they don't mesh well with the green grass

right is a much better improvement, nice

GameMaker Pro or Unity?

will you buy my game?

what game

I was told by someone that the brighter green was way too much so I kinda toned it down a bit.
Honestly I'm not sure which I prefer.

no you looks like a kuei jin

Thanks. Still got a lot of work to do.

maybe take the middle road and make it slightly brighter
or have some kind of shading or lightning effect

Should I even bother making an RPGMaker game? Does anyone even try those anymore?

Depends on what you're trying to do. I am but I'm just going for a simple Dragon Quest clone.

the new version definitely needs better shading, it's as if all colors just became weaker in terms of light and shadow

Chugging along.
Not satisfied with how some of the enemies are turning out in this section (the fireball guys look like monster hunter hammers) but I've been too long without posting more gameplay.

Just download GM and make a thing as you go along, that's how I started out.

>Want play a porn game that cathers to my fetish
>Can program, college degree in computer science
>I have made at least 2 small games. Platforme and a shmup style. Patreon VN style shouldn't require much effort.
>Can into music, took guitar courses for 10 years.
>Recently created some "videogamey" tunes in onlinesequencer
>Can draw, took 3 years of drawing in high school
>Can't create original poses but my copy abilities are above average
>Can write, took a creative writing course during college
>Have 1 book finished, self printed. Have another in draft.
I just don't find the urge to create. I just want to play incest games, not create them.
Plus, I wouldn't want anyone i know to know to what I fap too.

Maybe tell a decent story, probably try for a little more gameplay than To the Moon.

Assuming I keep my graphics to pixelshit 2D, how good is GameMaker 2 for an autistically complex game? Like an RPG with massive amounts of move/item/enemy variations, or some XCOM-like game with lots of calculations per turn.

I don't wanna post updates for every little hue shift but maybe something a bit more like this?

Go for it

you realy like games ending with NCE dont you?

Gamemaker isn't free. What do you think?

Should I?
Asked on Sup Forums and got no response ;_;

That looks better to me.
