How would you react if Nintendo officially confirmed the 2D Metroid games and Metroid Prime to be set in different universes?

Also, Metroid thread.

I wouldn't give a shit, since I play Metroid for the gameplay, not the storyline.

Relieved

I don't give a fuck about Prime.

I would tumble over in my chair at the staggering implications for metroid's deep and engaging storyline, because the only reason anyone plays those games is for the amazing narrative weaved through each installment

I would be kinda happy, both series honestly feel very different, specially on aesthetics.

...

What would it ultimately do though?
The difference between this and Nintendo doing it with Mario is that nobody liked the "bad" Mario universe games, it's why Nintendo did it in the first place.
If anything they would do what they did with Zelda and release a timeline where all the games fit together. Pretty sure there's a solid timeframe anyway.

Prime are just filler

i wouldnt really care. 2D metroids story is terrible

>Prime is no longer beholden to Sakamoto's insane vision of crybaby Samus with a mole and heels

Honestly sounds pretty great, but even having said that I still want them to be one, which they currently are.
