Smash, mario kart, pokemon, basic mario games all shit on it on the regular.

I don't understand the appeal to Splatoon. The artstyle is nice and unique I guess, but the gameplay is really boring. Though there are far more popular games that I don't see the appeal in either, like Skyrim, so whatever.

Yeah, Zelda is an important pillar of Nintendo but its status as one of the big three is basically honorary. Like Wonder Woman in DC's Trinity. Though I guess that analogy doesn't work as well after her movie.

Why would they hold back production on their main console? SHit, they even had to employ air freight shipping and that's super expensive. They were blindsighted by demand + their own conservative estimates + production problems due to other companies needing those same parts but are much more higher priority (like, again, Apple)

Mario Kart is a derivative IP from Super Mario the way Mario derived from Donkey Kong. At this point it's its own separate IP. Or do you think Super Mario Bros is a Donkey Kong game?

I definitely see Splatoon getting bigger in Japan now that it's not on a dead system, but in the West, I dunno what potential Splatoon has since there are so many choices in shooters over here.

I directly described what it was like getting product from them during the wii. They build expectation of stock, which retailers pass on to customers, then shortship creating a frenzy.

A brand image of your product being the hottest shit that flies off the shelves is an insanely powerful marketing tool, and that image of desirability sustains well past when you return stock flow to regular levels.

Because its a new genre that Nintendo hasn't had a real series for in a while, and with characters that are likable and appealing.

Honestly, Mario + Rabbids is looking to head in this direction as well, a new genre that Nintendo really hasn't been keeping up with. I fully expect it to sell great, and probably get a sequel.
