I haven't beat the game yet so that hasn't been a problem for me. I've clocked over 200 hours into it already so whether or not there is a postgame won't make much of a difference to me.

I refuse to be hype unless I see actual reasons to buy them. Platinum and B2/W2 were fucking great, but so far they haven't actually specified anything new outside of what I assume are new Z moves.

Fuck it, I've fallen for it, too. I loved S/M, but the lack of a National Dex, utter disincentive to start a new file, and painful postgame grind left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm cautiously optimistic, though I'll wait a few days for people outside Sup Forums to deliver a verdict.

Because despite S/M being mediocre games they still brought the fandom to peak levels of activity more than any other Pokemon game in recent years.

This is the thing that gets me, I've replayed almost all of the main series games more than once but S/M is just such a slog, once US/UM is released I don't think I'll ever touch S/M again unless US/UM is somehow worse but surely GF can't screw up that bad

I share the feeling, as I loved the designs of the new Pokemon and the change in how the singleplayer went (since I can play older titles for that style of play), but it was a mite short. I try to complete as much of each island's dex before moving on to the next one. there's actually an npc on the bottom of the third island (near the ghost trial) who says that they do this same exact thing which was funny to me.

As much as it hurts to admit, SM was riding the coat tails of Pokemon Go back into the mainstream. I know they've always had a core audience and sold gangbusters though.
